Daniel James Howell, just an ordinary person enjoying life . . . is what I'd like to say; it was actually the complete opposite. He isn't normal, seeing as he has voodoo doll abilities, and certainly doesn't enjoy living with a giant perpetrator named Richard Croning, who mishandles Dan's ability. Dan never calls Rich by his name, he always called him Sir. I guess I should explain in further detail:

By 'voodoo doll abilities' I mean he's like a human voodoo doll. If his 'owner' started to resent someone, he - somehow - get ahold of their DNA and uses Dan's ability to torture them into insanity. It's not like Dan wants that to happen, he hates it so much. If he even tries to protest, but then he would be the one being tortured. He is beaten black and blue if he even tries to express an opinion. It is always something new; always unexpected. Over and over he is whipped, stabbed, raped. His back torn apart, old wounds reopened.

The worst part is the fact that he has to witness all their deaths. His master, has complete control over him and he can't look away. Dan has never wanted to hurt anyone, instead of a person who hurts others, he became the person who gets hurt. He found it okay if he lost because he always granted love and kindness. Dan, a kind person, only ever needed those things in order to be happy.he never wanted to cause grief among anyone's family, he could never do such a thing but as soon as he ran into Richard, it all started to happen.

I should probably tell you how he got into Richard's grasp. One day Dan was messing around with a few of his friends, controlling animals - they weren't going to harm it, only get it to walk about - when Richard walked by. The odd ability sparked his interest, like it would any other person, but his heart was black and he only thought of the terrible things he could do to people. He kidnapped Dan and took him to his house, trapped him in the basement and locked him away.

Dan tried to escape many times primarily, but the chance wasn't worth the cost of failure. Richard is an indisposed man, he's fucked up in the head. But Dan doesn't realise this, he thinks he is meant for a world of pain.
