Shiro X Reader (Pt. 1)
⚠️No Warning!⚠️
"This is useless," you muttered, yanking at the chains one my time. They were keeping you attached to the wall in your cell. Now you weren't always chained to the wall. There was a time when you were allowed to pace freely and ponder on why the universe sent you to space, only to get captured by aliens.
Just. Perfect.
The only reason you were stuck to the wall is because of your failed jail break. You were five feet away from that escape pod. Five feet. Then Haggar came and zapped you with her magic or... whatever. The last thing you remember before nodding off was Haggar's voice, saying, 'don't worry, we have special plans for you'.
Not exactly he most comforting thing to hear from a lady who looks well too high.
You were here because of the first Kerberos mission. Your team crashed and they sent a rescue team, but covered it up as the team was going for ice samples. While your team was waiting you were abducted by the Galra Empire. Your crew mates were executed, but they kept you for an unknown reason.
You heard from other prisoners about gladiator fights, but you'd never been in one. You had never even gone close to one.
You sighed angrily, pulling on the chains. "Help!" You screamed, trying harder to rip the chains off. No one responded.
The last you heard from your family was when your dad and Matt were heading to Kerberos to rescue you. You heard they were abducted too, but hadn't seen either of them. The Holt's weren't exactly the luckiest when it came to space travel apparently.
"Hello?" A hushed voice called. "Is there anyone down here?"
"HELLO!?" You yelled, feeling excited. Maybe this was your chance! You heard a thud against the door.
"Pidge, can you open it up?" The voice said again.
"Sure thing." A younger voice replied. It was so familiar it made your brain hurt, but you couldn't remember who it belonged to. The door slid open and two boys walked in. A tall man in black and white armor, and a young boy with green, white, and black armor. You couldn't see much else, it was dark, but it didn't matter who they were. You knew this could finally be your escape. "Don't be afraid. We're here to help. We're Paladins of Voltron."
You'd heard of Voltron. Just the name, but you assumed it was good due to the foul way the guards spoke of it. "Can you help me get these chains off?" You held up your wrists and the man stepped forward, you noticed his arm started to flow and realized it was Galra tech. You shrieked away and he held his hands out.
"I'm going to cut you out. Okay?" You nodded and he sliced part of the chains off. You still had the manacles and chains on your wrist, but you looked at them and grinned a bit. You could use that. "Thanks, don't worry about the rest. What are you doing here? Who are you?"
"We can explain more. C'mon." The man grabbed your forearm and you all sprinted down the halls. The man quickly pulled you behind a pillar, you peaked out to see a lone drone marching.
"I've got this." You whispered. You charged your prosthetic leg, like the mans arms and sprinted towards the drone, and kicked it's head off. "Let's go!"
They caught up and led the way to an escape pod. The man pushed you inside and the doors closed, then a few moments later the pod shot off the ship and headed towards a large worm hole. As you went through you closed your eyes and covered your face from the bright flash.

"C'mon, Pidge. Let's get back to our lions." Shiro said and they both sprinted back down the halls. They hadn't experienced any sort of drone except the one, you killed. They made it to the lions safely and quickly made it back to the castle a docked.
"Shiro. I think I knew that person." Pidge sighed, rubbing her head as they walked out of the bridge to make sure you'd gotten to the healing pods okay.
"Who is it?"
"Can't be sure unless I ask." Pidge nodded as they walked into the room to see everyone else crowded around the pod.
"Oh, they got in okay." Shiro smiled. "How long will it take for the healing process, Princess?"
"About a day. There were detections of head injuries, broken ribs, and infected wounds."
"Fights pretty good with a broken ribs. Loved to see the full potential." Shiro grinned.
"You know they look like someone I know." Lance mumbled. "Don't know who though."
"I get the same feeling." Pidge sighed.
"I guess we'll just have to wait." Keith piped in.
"Yeah... anyone hungry?" Hunk asked. "I'm going to go make some food."
~*~
You gasped as your eyes snapped open and you were greeted by a cool breeze. You gripped the sides of whatever you were in and looked around. A man approached you, one you didn't quite recognize. "Hey, it's okay. I'm Shiro. I helped you escape the Galra ship yesterday."
"Where am I?" You gulped.
"You're in Princess Allura's castle. Here let me help you sit down." He lead you out of the thing you were in and helped you sit on a step. "Do you want something? Water? Food?"
"I'm not hungry." You shook your head, and stared at your hands. A door slid open to your right and you watched as a younger looking Matt walked in. "Matt? Is that you?" You asked.
"No. It's Katie." That's when it hit you. Your eyes teared up and you stood up slowly.
"It's me, (Y/N)." Her eyes widened and she attacked you with a hug and you fell over, hugging her back.
"Where Matt, and Dad?"
"I don't know, Kate. I'm sorry." You squeezed her tightly and sat up, groaning a bit. You felt sore and it drove you a little insane.
"Pidge, maybe you'd like to let your them sleep?" Shiro suggested. "I'd imagine they're tired. Or you can catch up, but it might be best to go somewhere more private, so they're not overwhelmed by everyone else... and by that I mean, Lance."
"Sure. Here, I'll take you to my room." Katie stood up and helped you to your feet and she lead you to a small room and you both sat on the bed, facing each other.
"How'd you end up here, Katie?"
"Lance, and I go by Pidge."
"Sorry, Pidge, and who's this, Lance?"
"You don't wanna meet him. Where have you been?"
"Abducted. By aliens." You smiled softly and raked your finger through your ever growing hair. It was almost eight inches longer since you left Earth. "Is mom okay?"
"I don't know. She's had everything taken away. I hope she's okay... do you want to help me find Matt, and Dad?"
"I've been trying. I catch news from the guards every now and then... last I heard there was a prison break. One human escaped. I know it's not anyone from my crew. They were all executed. It's either dad or-"
"It's Matt. I caught footage off a Galra ship."
"You little genius," you laughed, tapping her with your foot. You yawned and slumped over a bit.
"Maybe you should get some rest. Just try and find someone when you wake up if I'm not here. Or find something to do." You nodded and laid down, your head next to Pidge. She ruffled your hair. "Good to have you back."
~*~
"Hello, (Y/N)."
"What do you want, Haggar!?" You snapped. It was just you and her, standing in an empty space, but you knew this was more than just a dream. You could feel it, like a string attached to your mind, gently pulling, then yanking as hard as possible.
"I want you to grow close to one of the Paladins. Any of them. If you report to me useful information we'll set you and your father free."
"You have my dad!?"
"Give us the information."
~*~
You sat up in the bed, your ragged shirt soaked in sweat, your hair beaded with it too. That wasn't just a dream. It was a chance to get part of your family back to Earth. All you had to do was betray one of these "Paladins". Whatever that meant.
You found a fresh pair of clothes sitting at the end of the bed. You changed into them and walked out of the room. The halls were empty and you didn't worry about it. You walked down the right hall keeping to right until you came to a large door. You presumed it would have to be a control room or something, but when you walked in you found it was empty.
There was a broadsword leaning against the wall with a note attached to it. Curiously, you decided to investigate. You picked up the sword, it had good weight to it and the grip fit perfectly to your hands. You picked the note off he blade and read it.
'If you want to practice just say, start training level 1. You can progress as you go.'
"Start training level one?" A panel in the ceiling opened an Altean drone fell from the ceiling. You gripped the sword and stepped forward, slowly, circling the drone. It watched you carefully, then pointed it's sword at you and charged. It swung and you blocked, swing, block, swing, block. The drone tried to bring the sword down on your head, but you jumped back. Once it's sword hit the ground you lunged forward and stabbed the drone through the chest.
It disappeared and you grinned. "I like this training."
~*~
Hours had passed, most likely, and you were on training level forty three. You were quick on you feet, heavy with your swings, and ferocious with you blocks. You disarmed the drone you were currently fighting and stabbed it. You pulled back and sat down for a minute.
You were drenched in sweat, but felt alive and ready to kill anything in your way. Out of nowhere you heard clapping from the corner of the room. You turned to the door and saw a tall boy, with tan skin, grinning. "Great job!"
"Who are you?" You asked, pushing yourself to your feet.
"The name's Lance." He winked, leaning against the wall. "What's yours?"
"Don't let the door hit you on the way out." You waved him off. "My sister told me I didn't want to meet you. I'm beginning to understand why."
"Sister?"
"Ka... Pidge. You didn't know she was my sister?"
"So that makes you (Y/N) Holt," he grinned again.
"Go away I'm training."
"I'd like to see you in an expert level." Five panels opened up from the ceiling and you were suddenly surrounded by five, expert level, drones. "Oh no!"
"Look, I don't know how to turn this off, but I'm going to kill you once I take these out!" You growled.
The first drone charged at you, heading for the first and final strike. You blocked the hit with your sword and saw another one swing, you moved your sword to block again, but another drone was moving with a hit. You ducked and the sword went through another drone. You slid under some drones legs and turned to assess the situation.
Four drones left. That's more than you could probably handle.
You turned to see, Lance had left. You scolded in his absence and turned back just in time to see a drone cutting down, you blocked with your sword and the drone kicked you, you flew into the wall. You quickly bounced to your feet and realized you were cornered. They moved closer around you and you charged your leg and leg swept them. They fell and you quickly stabbed one.
Three.
Two of them pounced on you and knocked your sword out of your hands and held you up. The third prepared to stab through your skull, right as it plunged the sword towards your face you turned your head, only grazing your cheek. You used your leg to knock off one of the drones holding you down. It disappeared and that left you with two.
You reached back and grabbed the one holding you and threw it towards the other, and they both clattered to the ground. You quickly grabbed your sword and turned in time to be kicked back into the wall. You pushed off the wall with your feet and kicked the head off of one.
You landed on your knees and used the sword to push yourself up. You slowly turned and saw the sword coming down, you covered yourself with your arm, but the hit never came. You turned to see Shiro standing over you, with his arm up, holding the sword back. "Do something!" He exclaimed.
He pushed the drone back and you threw your sword right through it's head. You fell over and sighed. "Thanks, Shiro."
"Are you alright?" He held his hand out and you took it. He pulled you to your feet and you grinned.
"I've been better." He smiled and you two walked out into the hall and saw six people standing there, looking concerned. Among them were Lance, Pidge, a tall boy with a bandana or something in his hair, a boy with a mullet, a man with a mustache, and girl with really long hair. "Uh... I feel sorta... awkward. I'm (Y/N)."
"We know. I'm Allura." The girl stepped forward and you shook her hand. "This is Coran, Keith, and Hunk. You already know Pidge and Shiro it seems... and we all know you met Lance."
"Yes. Our conversation you brief." You smiled, angrily.
"Are you alright?" Pidge stepped forward, grabbing your wrist, looking you up and down.
"I'm fine sis, just got a little cut. It can heal."
"Well since we've all met, why not have someone give you a tour? Shiro," would you mind showing (Y/N) around?"
"Not at all, Princess."
