'What if the voice in your head is your soulmate's?'
'That's such a bullshit Mingi' Yunho smacked his friend's head and smiled. They just loved to tease each other constantly much to their friend's enjoyment. They were sitting in the cafeteria at school during lunch break. Mingi and Yunho next to each other, Seonghwa right across them, beside him Hongjoong and Wooyoung squished between Yunho and Seonghwa. Wooyoung basically disappeared next to his friends due to them being so damn tall compared to him and Hongjoong.
'No it isn't you asshole! It's possible! Listen, everyone hears voices in their head, right? Like when you have an internal conversation with yourself. But what if the voice isn't actually yours? I don't see why this would be dumb tho' Mingi explained only to earn another round of laughter from his friends. Mingi wasn't the smartest kid in the class to begin with and he constantly rambled about his new theories whenever he got a chance but he was the sweetest and kindest person you could ever meet. Even though he looked intimidating because of his height and bright red hair he was a soft, gentle giant as they usually called him.
'Mingi, I get that this sounds reasonable to you, but soulmates don't exist, especially not in your head bro' Seoghwa spoke up but before Mingi could say anything else to defend his point, the bell rang indicating that it was time to leave for class.

Math was always something Wooyoung hated and he wasn't even good at it anyway. He usually just spent his time by drawing in his textbook or listening to music. Luckily his hair was long enough to hide his wireless earbuds so no one knew he didn't pay attention. If they knew, they never said anything and the teacher already gave up on him long ago. On that day he quickly put his earbuds in as the lesson started and listened to his favourite songs.
Twenty minutes into Math class his earbuds gave up due to the battery running low. He shuffled around in his backpack to find his case to charge them in but he couldn't find it so after a good five minutes of searching he gave up.
'What the fuck am I supposed to do now?' he asked himself mentally, suddenly remembering that he gave the case to Hongjoong so he would decorate it at his art class that day.
'What do you mean?' a voice so low, barely audible, reached Wooyoung. He instantly looked around, confused on where the voice came from. Around him sat a few girls so it couldn't be them and Seonghwa was way too far for Wooyoung to hear him and he -as being the class president- sat at the front seat.
'I must be trippin. I should've slept last night instead of playing games'
'No you're not. I can hear you'
'I...what the fuck?' Wooyoung panicked, his eyes scanning the room constantly to catch the one who played with him.
'As I said, I can hear you. I'm here' the voice stated, the tone got a bit softer with every word.Wooyoung hesitated for a moment, debating if he was just imagining the whole or if it was actually real.
'Wh..where?' he asked, already regretting his decision when the voice replied.
'In your head'
The next minutes passed with Wooyoung uncomfortably shuffling in his seat and his mind going crazy with all the thoughts and questions. To say he was panicking was an understatement. His heart was beating faster he feared someone would hear it as it punded loudly in his ribcage.
'Uhm...Mr.Kim' he held up uis hand so the teacher would notice him better.
'What is it Wooyoung?' The man asked his voice so loud it made Wooyoung even more nervous.
He had no plans on what to say. He couldn't say he heard a stranger's voice in his head cause everyone would think he's gone insane so he said the first thing that came to his mind.
'I need to use the bathroom'
'How basic of you Wooyoung ohmygod you're so dumb' he thought while the teacher looked at him as if he said something rude.
'No' he firmly stated 'You're not a five year old so I'm sure you can keep it in for a little more' the teacher turned around and continued writing on the board.
'Wooyoung? is that your name?' the voice asked again making Wooyoung jump in his seat and accidentally knocking his backpack onto the floor.
He decided it was better to get detention than freaking out in the middle of the class where everyone could see him so he quickly gathered his things and ran out of the classroom. As soon as he was in the bathroom he closed the door, making sure no one could come in. He locked himself into one of the bathroom stalls and sat down to the floor.
'Wooyoung?' the voice asked sounding a bit concerned.
'Am I crazy?' he thought still not believeing what was happening to him. Also the fact that Mingi just mentioned his crazy theory at lunch and then all of a sudden it became reality made his head hurt.
'You're not crazy. In fact you're special'
'What?'
'We're soulmates. Isn't that enough?' the owner of the voice was seemingly entertained cause a deep chuckle sounded in Wooyoung's head. 'Did I scare you?'
'I... Who are you?' he asked internally screaming cause he was sure he had gone crazy.
'My name is Yeosang' he said calmly as if everything was natural and normal instead of it being mindblowingly crazy and weird and unbelieveable. 'I'm just dreaming. I have to. Soulmates don't fucking exist, Seonghwa said it! This is just a stupid dream' Wooyoung tried to calm himself down as much as possible but it didn't seem to work.
'I am real. You're not dreaming' Yeosang's voice echoed in Wooyoung's head but he couldn't believe it.
'NO!' he screamed, the loud voice earning a knock on the stall's door.
'Wooyoung? Are you okay?' Seonghwa's concerned voice sounded from outside the bathroom stall. 'I saw you leave the classroom earlier in a hurry I thought something happened' he knocked again, trying to get Wooyoung open the door.
'I'm.. I'm fine .. no worries. Just a little stomachache' he tried to convince his friend but there was no use.
'I know when you lie Woo... you can tell me anything'
Silence filled the bathroom and Wooyoung didn't know what to do. There was no way what happened was real, right? It made no sense at all and he felt like his head could explode at any moment.
'Wooyoung?' Seonghwa questioned again but this time a little harsher. 'Are you high or something? Please tell me you're not taking drugs now I can't get you out of that trouble if anyone notices' he started to sound more and more worried as the silence remained.
'You wouldn't believe it anyway...' Wooyoung mumbled scared to be louder in case anyone else came in.
'You won't know until you tried. I'm your friend I can deal with anything just tell me' Seonghwa waited for any reponse but instead Wooyoung opened the door.
'I... I'm scared..' he stepped out going straight into Seonghwa's arms.
'Honey..there's no need to be scared I'm here' he started rubbing small circles on Wooyoung's back trying to calm him.
It took Wooyoung long minutes to finally find the courage to speak up. He was scared and utterly confused it still felt too unreal.
'I...I hear voices...' he whispered against Seonghwa's muscular chest 'I hear someone..talk to me...'
In a milisecond Seonghwa grabbed onto his shoulders and looked straight into his eyes looking for anything to prove that Wooyoung was just playing with him but the other's deep brown eyes were uncertain and scared.
'Voices? What voices?' he asked his pupils growing a bit as he focused all his attention to Wooyoung.
'A voice.. that's my soulmate's...'
