"After everything he's done to you y/n, why? Why him?" Megumi asked, fatigue in his words.

All I could say was, "I wish I knew the answer myself..."

He just gazed at me with tired eyes, like he was begging for a better answer.

That's when Gojo came up to us from behind, "Maybe we shouldn't talk about this right now ah? You two brats just go to bed. Things will be clearer in the morning." He suggested, even though it was more of an order.

Megumi sighed and headed off into the living room.

"Give him some time." Gojo said beside me with a hand on my shoulder.

"I don't think he'll ever look at me the same."

"Oh don't be ridiculous. Your friendship must be weak if you think this little scuffle will ruin it forever."

I nodded dolefully and went off to bed, laying alone with my thoughts for a while before passing into sleep. That night, I dreamt about Sukuna. A vivid image of being in his arms while we laid together. The sound of his breaths, the way his chest would sink and rise as I rested my head on it. His hand stroking my back every now and then. It was less of a dream and more of a memory, this was how our nights were back at his house.

I missed him...

I just wanted to be with him...

The fact that I couldn't was starting to set in. I had to kill Sukuna soon, if I didn't, then this situation would never end. The higher ups would never stop chasing after us, they'd probably start going after people I loved like my friends or my father.

In order to protect everyone, I had to prepare to let Sukuna go. No matter how selfish I wanted to be, no matter how much I longed to run away with him and fall deeper in love. I had to sacrifice our relationship.

I woke up the next morning, with tears in my eyes...

"Oi, y/n get dressed and come to the kitchen." Gojo said from the bedroom door. I was barely awake but still nodded my head.

I cleaned myself up and headed for the kitchen where I say Gojo and Megumi standing by the counter. They paused their conversation as soon as I showed up.

"What is it Gojo?" I said.

"Megumi's gonna help us too, the three of us will go to the school tonight. We need all the help we can get."

I looked at Megumi, there was something serious in his eyes. He was focused on the objective at hand, putting his feelings to the side.

I had to do the same.

"Alright, then let's go over the plan." I insisted.

"Okay, so we'll arrive at the school at midnight, the only people that should be awake are the janitors and cleaning staff. Most faculty live off campus so this lessons our chances of getting caught. We'll make our way inside from the garage and proceed to the basement floors. Y/n will go into the cell and free Sukuna while Megumi and I keep watch for any attackers. We'll make sure to keep y/n safe while she's in the cell room." Gojo explained.

"Do you think you can handle this y/n? If not, Megumi and I can free Sukuna ourselves. This might get dangerous." He added.

"I can handle it, I want to be the one to free him, I need to be..."

"I see..." Gojo said.

"Y/n." Megumi chimed in.

"Hm?"

"I know you can do this. Good luck."

A light smile brushed across my face, "Thank you."

"Also one more thing y/n." Gojo added, "Despite your feelings for him... Ryomen Sukuna is a dangerous man. If he puts you in harms way at all, I'll handle him."

Gojo gave me a pensive glare.

"I trust him." I said quietly.

"You trust Sukuna?"

"Yes, he won't hurt me... Throughout this whole situation, he hasn't harmed me physically at all. So I trust him..."

"Well no matter what, if worst comes to worst, I'm prepared to fight."

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that."

The three of us spent the rest of the day preparing for our task at midnight. When the time came, there was a strange seriousness between us all. We got quieter and quieter with each other.

Even though it was late at night, I was wide awake and ready. We approached the school and left the car in the lowest parking garage, making our way to the elevator which led us down to the basement.

"Y/n." Megumi said as we descended in the tiny elevator.

"Yeah?"

"Be careful once you get inside the cell room, Ryomen Sukuna is strong... If he hurts you..."

"He won't. I promise."

Megumi nodded, but I could tell by his disapproval that he didn't believe me. I didn't care though, I knew in my heart that Sukuna wouldn't hurt me.

We started down a long quiet hallway as our footsteps echoed. Every now and then I'd turn around to make sure no one was following us. My heart was beating fast. We reached an iron door that was bolted shut with a lock. Gojo put his hand on the door and immediately it started to bend and buckle, he then kicked it down with his foot.

I just looked at him in surprise, that man was so powerful it was almost unfair.

The door led to a narrow staircase which descended us deeper into the basement. The stairway was strangely long, I felt like we were walking down it for far too long. When we reached the next floor, Gojo led us down one more passage way until we stopped at the foot of a tall door. It was padlocked shut with a security camera at the top of it.

Gojo sarcastically waved at the camera lense with a smile before using some cursed energy to knock it down.

"You really had to say hi to the camera?" Megumi grimaced.

"Why not?" Gojo chuckled.

I let out a laugh.

"Anyways, this is the door that leads to the cell, Sukuna is most likely in here. Y/n, are you sure you're okay with this?" Gojo asked.

"Yes."

The two boys glanced at each other before looking back at me.

"Okay... Then I'll trust in your decision." He said.

Gojo cracked open the padlock and the door opened. I gave him one last look before going inside.

"I'm going to shut the door, just to keep you safe while you're in there." He added.

I nodded, now it was just me alone. I was in a dimly lit hallway that led to a downward stairwell. The lights had a greenish tint, it was almost hard to see where I was going.

The staircase was wide and led down to a dungeon-like room. I noticed that's where the lights were coming from. Sitting in the center of the room in a chair, locked down with chains, was Sukuna...

He was surrounded by lanterns as his head dangled in pure exhaustion. I walked down the stairs, my footsteps echoed and he looked up, a half lidded gaze.

"Y-.... Y/n?" He mumbled
