Chapter 59
Later that night, after Eijirou had passed out and Hitoshi and I were back home, I noticed Hitoshi acting off. It wasn't like that morning when he made excuses and danced around my questions, his whole vibe was off. It was like he was lost in his own head, which fair enough, happened to everyone. It just seemed like there was something... more to it.
"Okay," I said eventually, shattering the silence in our room. "What're you thinking about?" I was sitting cross-legged on my bed, trying my best to not sound like I thought something was up.
Hitoshi was at his dresser switching his shirt. He sighed while pulling the new one on, sounding like he'd been waiting for me to say something. "Iz, I know you had a lot of fun getting Kirishima high today-"
I cut him off with a laugh because what an understatement. "Please, toasted Eijirou is hilarious. Plus, it was nice to see him actually relax. He's always acting chill and stuff, but that guy is stressing," I said with a shrug, not understanding what point Hitoshi was trying to make. Despite how bitchy he was over touchy Eijirou, I knew he had a lot of fun too.
"Which is exactly why it probably shouldn't happen again any time soon," Hitoshi said slowly, trying to hit the message home.
"Please, if anyone needs weed, it's him."
I grabbed my pillow and brought it to my lap so I could pull at the loose string on the case. There was a pull in my gut that told me I was probably about to get lectured.
"Iz," Hitoshi's hand went up to his face, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Remember what happened when you had a terrible parent experience and then given access to drugs unrestricted?" His words were said in a tone that made it clear he couldn't believe I hadn't connected the dots myself. It almost made me feel bad.
"That won't happen with Ei," I hissed at him, gripping the pillow with white knuckles at the suggestion. "It won't happen. He's not- He's not me, okay?"
Hitoshi leveled me with an unimpressed look. "Love, he's you if you were a foot taller and less of a bitch."
"Ouch," I shouted at him, leaning in the opposite direction even though we were on opposite sides of the room. "That was just fucking rude to everyone involved."
"We would get so much further if you didn't think you're the scum of the earth and he's infallible," he said with a resigned sigh.
I silently debated throwing my pillow at him, but then I'd have to retrieve it before I could go to sleep. "I'm just saying that he's not a fucking addict," I said instead.
"Izuku."
Oh wow, he used my full first name.
"He openly admits to having an addictive personality," he continued, not even stumbling when I tried to interject. "Before today, I've never seen him high because he doesn't trust himself with it. Are you really going to sit there and claim he isn't an addict?"
I didn't respond for a moment, my thoughts spinning faster than my brain could comprehend. "Fine," I said finally, setting my pillow in its spot too aggressively and lying down with my back to him. "He's an addict and you don't have to worry about the other addict feeding him drugs behind your back."
Was I being unbelievably petty? Yes. Did I care? No.
Hey, at least I can admit it.
"You can pretend to be offended all you want, but we both know you would have if we didn't talk about it."
"Jesus fucking Christ!" I yelled while sitting up to glare daggers at him. To my credit, he seemed genuinely surprised by my outburst. "Do you seriously think I'm so stupid I wouldn't have figured it out on my own? I've been around addicts my whole life and I fucking am one, do you think I would have ignored the signs if I was watching him destroy himself?"
I took a deep breath, running my hands down my face. "Do you think I don't care about him more than I care about myself? I wouldn't let him do that to himself and I'm offended that you thought I would."
"That's not what I was saying," Hitoshi said in a much calmer tone. "The problem with letting you figure it out on your own is that by the time you catch on, he'll have a different dealer on speed dial. I'm not saying you're a bad person, love, I've just been where you're standing."
Well, now I feel like a jackass.
It started as weed with me, too. Once it got bad and my friends realized I had a problem, I didn't need to go through them to get what I wanted and they had zero way to cut me off. After that, everything got messy.
Hitoshi actually had a really good point and I was being a little bitch about it.
"Okay," I mumbled, pulling my knees to my chest and wrapping my arms around them. "You're right."
I heard shuffling from his bed and then he was standing at the side of mine. "Scoot," he instructed. I rolled my eyes, but complied and gave in to the cuddles I was pulled into. "What'd you wanna talk about?"
"Why do we have to talk?" I asked back instead of answering him.
"Because we're not just going to bed after that. It's like sleeping right after a horror movie, it's just stupid."
I laughed quietly at his reasoning, letting my head rest on his chest. "You scared of horror movies, Toshi?"
"No," he said matter-of-factly. "But I know you are. You won't be able to sleep if I don't distract you."
"Hm, fine, but only because I know you're the one who secretly needs to be distracted," I teased, even though he was right and we both knew it. He let me win anyway.

"So, who's all coming with tomorrow? Like finally head count?" Kaminari asked the next day at lunch. The whole group was already settled into their own conversations, but he'd spoken loud enough to catch all of our attention.
"Where're you going tomorrow?" I asked with a small tilt of my head. I didn't remember anyone making plans.
"Club!" Uraraka cheered from her spot next to Ashido.
Of course. Is she ever not excited about partying?
"Which is why you didn't know," Katsuki said with a shrug. He was sitting on the other side of Eijirou, who was sitting next to me. Hitoshi was on my other side.
I waved my hands in front of me, scrunching my eyes closed. "Okay, I get that you're worried I'll spazz, but you can't just not tell me where you're going on a Friday night."
The blond looked contemplative for a moment before shrugging again. "Noted."
I groaned, but I knew it was the best I would get from him. "I'm going with."
"Whoa," Kaminari said in awe.
"You're willingly going back to the club?" Sero asked with a raised brow.
I glanced over at Hitoshi in disbelief. "I'm literally not the one with trauma in that place, I feel like this shouldn't be such a huge deal."
"You got trauma there, don't worry," Hitoshi said, bumping our shoulders together. I had honestly thought he'd checked out of the conversation.
"You're the one who said you didn't want to go back," Eijirou pointed out. His chin was resting in his palm while his elbow was propped up on the table, most of his upper body with it.
I furrowed my brows at him and the fact he was nearly lying on the table. "Yeah, but I also know your setlist. I'm going."
Eijirou chuckled at my reaction, ruffling my hair like a dog. I really wished people would stop doing that. "You're so cute when you're possessive."
CODE RED CODE RED CODE RED!
I narrowed my eyes as I scanned every inch of his face. The lidded eyes and lopsided smile were really the only clues I needed.
Looking over the redhead at Katsuki, I gave him a very pointed look. He elected to ignore it and pretend he couldn't see me. I was two feet away from him and he was doing a horrible job.
"Ei, my love," I said in a quiet voice, catching Eijirou's attention instantly. "Are you high right now?"
"A little."
"Motherfucker." That was actually Hitoshi.
"Katsuki, you have a singular minute to explain." That was me.
"He took an edible before I even woke up, do not yell at me for this," the blond said instantly, lifting his hands in surrender.
Someone at the table let out a low whistle, but I wasn't in the mood to entertain it.
"How about we hide the edibles next time?" I asked with a tired sigh. This wasn't a big deal. Eijirou was a teenager who got stoned before school, that was it. It happened all the time and was completely harmless. It was fine.
Eijirou groaned loudly and turned his head so his forehead rested on the table. "I get why you hated this now."
"Hated what, Ei?" I asked, focusing on him once again.
"Everyone talking about you like you're not there."
I slipped my hand into his and gave it a small squeeze. "Welcome to the club, let's make sure it's a one-time visit."
"Why does everyone get to be a stoner but me?" he whined, but he didn't move his hand. I counted it as a win.
Katsuki snorted, crossing his arms on the table as he looked down at our boyfriend. "Because you hate being stoned."
"I've changed my mind."
"You told me you weren't allowed to."
"I'm changing the rules."
"Said you couldn't do that either."
"Fuck, I know myself too well," the redhead grumbled. "Whatever, guess I'll be sober tomorrow."
"Easiest detox I've ever seen," Hitoshi said with a shake of his head.
I turned a sickly sweet smile to him in return. "Shut up."
"And he doesn't bite anyone?" Todoroki, the fucking bastard, asked. "Dori, quick. Take notes."
"You bite two people while coked up and you never fucking live it down," I griped, crossing my arms and glaring at the half-and-half teen. Instead of his usually bored look, he was actually smiling while meeting my eyes.
I was happy he was comfortable enough to show his emotions, but now really wasn't the fucking time.
"Two nickels," Uraraka mumbled under her breath while poking at her food. "It's not a lot but it's weird it happened twice."
This fic really has no right being this long.
