"Lyn wait up!"

I stop in my tracks to turn around and see Raymond running up to me, his longish, wind-blown red hair in his face.

"Ready?" His cheeks were flushed from running.

"Why not?" I said, giving him the big smile I only give on special occasions.

Though really, who is ever ready for school?

Raymond seemed to read my mind, for he laughed joyfully, his bright green eyes twinkling and unrealistically white teeth showing then said, "How about not, 'cause we both know school sucks."
I smile again and nod.

There was an empty silence than he said, "You should smile more often," He looked sincerely in my gray eyes, "It looks good on you."

I just look down, pretending to be very interested in the sidewalk and we walked the rest of the way to school in an awkward and full silence.
