Chapter Six: Inner Power

"Man, why can't the school day just end? It feels like forever since I saw the robot." Spyder whined.

"We just saw it this morning." Harris told him.

"Wait, this morning? That's even worse!" Spyder exaggerated.

Harris shook his head.

"So, did you guys text Desmond or what?" Veracity queried.

"Seriously, when did he change his name? And how come he never said anything about it." Spyder questioned back.

"He didn't, and no, I don't think he wants to talk after the fight." Harris replied to both of them.

"Come on, everyone knows that Wade's a butthead and Tedd's his right hand man. Course they would start shit." Spyder mentioned.

"Bingo genius, Bay City High kids are hated around here. That's why they can get away with it." Veracity told him.

Harris nodded.

"And anyway, it's only third period-"

"Hey!"

The trio turned around to see a young, peppy cheerleader approach them. She brought smiles to anybody she encountered.

"Hi Paige." Veracity greeted.

"So, what was that whole fight about? Someone just posted it on YouTube. My friend showed it to me. Who was Ryan fighting?" Paige questioned.

Spyder rolled his eyes and told her, "Tedd. He was mad because I called him a groupie and that we didn't stand down." He told her.

"Why did you call him a groupie?" Paige asked.

"Because him and the other guys just decided to come over and mess with us." Harris answered.

"I should've gotten in there, man Tedd wouldn't have any teeth left. He would of had to get some fake ones at the store." Spyder added.

The group chuckled.

"Well, I'm glad you didn't. I don't want you getting hurt, Spidey. Besides, it looked pretty brutal. I've never seen Ryan in a fight before." Paige stated.

"What about the first day of school?" Spyder asked.

"Mmm, that was Mark and Wade. Ryan and Harris were just trying to break it up while you were too busy punching Rico." Paige responded.

Spyder thought about it for a second before nodding.

"But I haven't seen any of you one on one, except for Spyder and Veracity." Paige continued what she had previously said.

The boys looked at their new team member in shock.

"You were in a fight?! With who?" Spyder inquired with pure interest.

Veracity rolled her eyes and explained, "this girl tried to push me on the floor because she was mad that I beat her in a spelling bee when we were like 13. It apparently ruined her chance at straight A's. She hated my guts after that day. Long story short, we fought and I won."

Spyder looked at Harris, who was still surprised at the fact that his rival had beaten someone up effortlessly.

"But yeah, Ryan got it done though. Freshman can't fight my ass. Tedd was on the floor crying for his friends to come and help him, such a baby." Spyder dished out.

"They need to stop this and leave the football and sports rivalry aside. We're all going to the same school until Bay City High is finish rebuilding, so their gonna have to live with it instead of bullying every Bay City High kid they see." Paige spoke positively.

"Preach." Harris agreed.

The cheerleader giggled.

The day continued to drag on for everyone. Time seemed to go by at a moderate speed for most. As for the others, they just wanted the day to end. The young, now suspended, technopath was laying comfortably in his bed. He had fallen asleep rather quickly. Part of him however knew that his brother would be suspicious about him. He had to drop said suspicion fast so no one would find out. That was no easy task, especially when this kicked in.
As exhausted as he was, he had only rested for about an hour or two. The way he woke up wasn't pleasant. A electric type jolt put him in a state of wakefulness. He was hyperventilating as he sat up. It took him a bit to calm down. Once he did, the fifteen year old pulled out his device. He was about to text his friends. But before he could, the reflection he saw of himself through his phone scared him. He quickly went to his camera. Though he wasn't taking a picture, it was something else that caught his attention. And when he found out what it was, it both puzzled and worried him.
Technopathy controls all kinds of tech and machines. Depending on your DNA, a certain color will represent said power. The young pilot's eyes usually shine blue. So, why has it changed to purple? He guessed it was another thing that came with what he did over the last three days. To be honest, it looked cool on him. A little creepy, but cool. Question was, what did it mean?

"Ryan?"

The young man heard his door open. He turned to see who it was.

"Hi mom." Ryan replied still tired.

Grace walked in and sat beside her son.

"Look, you're in trouble, but I know you're a good kid. However, you need to-"

"I know." Ryan cut her off, aware of what she was going to say.

Grace smiled.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

Ryan nodded.

"Yeah. I'm fine." He reassured her.

Grace nodded.

"Alright good, cause your grounded." She told him.

Ryan gave her an astonished look.

"I'm grounded?" He quizzed.

His mom smirked.

"For three days." She clarified.

Ryan raised an eyebrow.

"I thought I was in trouble." He replied.

"Yes you are, but I'm fully aware of what those jock kids are like. And you're already suspended, unless you want more punishment-"

"No!" Ryan immediately protested.

Grace giggled.

"I thought so." She responded.

The technopath's mother walked out of his room and shut the door. He waited for it to be completely shut. The click from the door gave him his answer. The fifteen year old faced forward. A long sigh escaped his mouth. Along with it, his eyes had started to glow again. The new purple light from them flashed several times. Much like how his powers did before when they were growing. Hmm, maybe that's why the color had been modified. Then again, it wasn't really clear.
Within his body, the blood cells had turned to dusk. His white veins had made a return as well. The bloodstream was normal as of right now. It flowed the same way, but the usual blood red insides were fully taken over by the alerted version of his abilities. The young pilot was only told of what was done a while ago. This was all recently developed. And although he couldn't see it, he could feel it. Feel the new version of his capabilities coursing through him. For once, it wasn't like ice shooting in his organs. Metaphorically, waves of warm electricity traveled within his veins. It soothed the young freshman, causing a smile to appear in his face.
It was the warm sun in May inside of him. That's why he took the covers off. His smile grew as he laid back. The purple tint in his eyes showed a lightning storm. The young man lifted up his hands. They were beginning to glow. Quickly, the male technopath faced them outwards. Just in time too, since the first thing that happened was the electric blast that sent Tragear back. It hit the wall in his room, causing smoke to appear. This left the fifteen year old in shock for a bit. The sound must've echoed in the house as well, considering the former jock came running up the stairs and banged the door open. That gave the technology controlling child something else to focus on.

"Are you okay?!" Mark asked frantically.

His little brother nodded.

"I'm okay. How did you-"

"I heard it from my room and it sounded close. Are you hurt?" Mark questioned.

He sat down next to his sibling.

"No Mark I'm fine." Ryan reassured him, though not even believing himself.

His older brother nodded. His attention moved to the wall in front of them. His eyes widened.

"How the?! Did you do that?" Mark wondered in shock.

Ryan bit his lip, deciding if he should lie or not.

"Uh...maybe it was the wind?" Ryan suggested.

His older sibling stared at him in disbelief.

"The wind did that?" Mark asked while glancing to the wall.

The younger Walker brother shrugged.

"The world is a mysterious place." Ryan pointed out.

Mark rolled his eyes.

"Dude, what's going on?" He inquired.

Ryan propped his knees up and rested his arms on top. The side of his face laid across them. He was looking down at his sheets. The egotistical young teen put his hand on his brother's back and rubbed it in a circular motion.

"Why-"

"Just....stop asking questions. Okay? Just stop." Ryan urged.

"Bro I-"

"Please?" Ryan asked.

The young handy man sighed and nodded. He continued to be by his brother's side. His odd behavior was something the sixteen year old wasn't getting. What did he do? What was wrong? Is it really big? It was best that he didn't question it. For now, he just let his younger sibling have silence in his corner.
That silence wasn't doing him any good by the way. The only thing that crossed his mind was reimagining what had just took place. Why? Why does it feel like everything is about to change? Not that things haven't already. Ever since that weekend in the Arctic, it's been nothing but a new set of answerless questions about himself. The solid moment that had destroyed Tragear's plan was also the moment that had affected the young pilot. Whether it was meant to occur or not, it meant something. He didn't know what it could be, but part of him did wish that he had mentioned it. The chance for that could be in fact right now. But instead, he chooses to keep this a secret until the right time is upon everyone. Will this cause suspicion? Yes. Is it worth it? He thought so. And until there's a clear sign for him to tell them, that choice was one he was going to stick with for a while.
