Songs That Fit Legea

Songs that fit Legea.

Or more specifically, songs that fit characters/scenes/chapters in the Ceristen series and Sorrow and Song.

Because I'm slowly degenerating into an utter nerd who does things like this.

Warning: minor spoilers for books leak through. Pretty minor though.

Mordred and Lethira: For the Dancing and the Dreaming – Peter & Evynne Hollens cover

https://youtu.be/HDJNv_T6u4U

First off, can I briefly say how amazing Peter and Evynne Hollens are. I've listened to this cover a million times(maybe not quite that much, but seriously) and never get tired of it. Second, this song captures Mordred and Lethira's relationship so perfectly it's like it was made for them. Mordred wants to do all the daring deeds, all the gifts, all the kisses and the poetry to show his ardent love, and Lethira's response is, "I just want you."

So much perfection. *listens to song again*

Falling action/Ceristen, Chapter 39 of The War: Journey's End –Adrian von Ziegler

https://youtu.be/29EuEolofQI

THIS. MUSIC. From the first gentle, swelling burst of notes, I always get this intense shiver of beauty and then a sense of utter serenity and well-being that warms my whole soul. And the picture that flashes into my mind's eye is the beginning of Chapter 39 of The War. Can't you just see Inspector Dickson waking in that quiet dawn, Mordred fast asleep with his tall frame rumpling up the covers, all that pain and struggle still lingering on the edge of the picture, but fading slowly out. And then at 1:45, where the first melody picks up again, is to me like Fred and Fiona entering Ceristen again, hand in hand, still exhausted, still healing, but so content in one another and ready to start their lives anew.

Battle in the quarry, Chapters 14-15 of The Claw Part 2:Herald of Justice – Brunuhville

https://youtu.be/TpxKvy5T9Uo

It was during my writing of those last intense chapters of The Claw, Part 2, that I discovered this piece, and as it was pretty epic stuff, I found myself playing it often to assist my mindset. It might be the sheer number of times I played it that gave it that association in my head to this particular scene, but the more I listen the more I'm convinced it's the song for the battle. The eerie edginess of those organ chords, the full-scale intensity, the high-pitched tempo surfacing occasionally and adding to the tension, the middle interlude that fits so well with Jared's moment in the cave. And then the final fade, never quite letting go of that eerie note.

Mordred, Chapter 1 of The Claw Part 2: Forsaken – Vindsvept

https://youtu.be/IaUMDxYtBpw

This is the scene on which Part 2 of The Claw opens: where Mordred is lying on the floor in *spoiler deleted*, utterly alone, utterly hopeless, swamped in emotional upheaval and anguish -- in a word, forsaken. The mood of the music, plus the title, make it a near-perfect fit.

Jedediah Crayes: As We March – Vindsvept

https://youtu.be/5QBKYvNr_og

The wild, spinning grace of this tune is unequivocally perfect for Jedediah Crayes. Jedediah Crayes in his element, dodging death, sparring with friends, reigning supreme in battles of wits, words, or swords. Of course, now I have to find music for Jeddy boy flustered... but that might not be very... musical.

He Comes, the Werevulture King AND Travel/Edivernel, unspecified points in Path of the Tempest – Verity Buchanan

https://youtu.be/56J1mMu3zbk

Mwahaha... you didn't think I would do this without sneaking some of my own music in here, did you? This is a video that I made as a kind of semi-trailer thing for Path of the Tempest, book 2 of Sorrow and Song. It's comprised of two pieces. The first one is the tune for He Comes, the Werevulture King, which is a poem that my sister composed several years ago. The second is a half-improvisation on an old theme of mine, and as it relates to scenes which are not posted or even written yet, I'll only clarify that the bold, happy part of the tune relates to "travel", and the creepy, minor section to "Edivernel".

Well, that's a peek at a few of the songs I've found that fit Legea. If you've ever come across a song that reminded you of something I wrote, please share it with me! I would looooove to see it, and add it to my list. (I know CelticWarriorQueen17 has ;) )
