Chapter 2
Days went by and she only went through the motions. She felt numb for a while as she went about her daily life. When someone would brush up against her for the first few days she felt her skin crawl. She found herself feeling as I'd she was back in that situation. She would feel disgusting all over again and take a shower and scrub her skin raw in scalding hot water. The only thing she found that brought her a little comfort was the man's jacket.
By now the scent had begun to fade but the faint scent was still able to help her relax. She couldn't describe why or make logic of it. Eventually everything went back to normal for her, she was back to normal being the overconfident loud mouth she usually was. Not that anyone had noticed in the first place that anything was wrong. She was good at masking. She was good at pretending nothing bothered her. That's how she had found herself being called cold and a bitch. But she was who she was. Often disinterested and distracted, with what could only be described as a god complex. Something that made her feel invincible and make stupid decisions. Maybe that was why she always found herself in situations others didn't.
Truth of the matter was she didn't like others seeing her as weak. She didn't like to seem vulnerable, so when she was attacked as she had just been a few days prior she didn't ask for help. She dealt with it on her own. She always handled difficult situations on her own, even from a young age.
Pushing the door open to her house she was meet with the sound of breaking glass and screaming. Lovely she thought as she let out a sigh and tiptoed up the stairs to her room. Closing the door to her room she locked it and slid the chair she kept under the door handle in place. The last thing she needed right now was some quality ' family bonding'. She knew she wouldn't be able to handle the sharp words and brutal fists of her mother and father in her current condition. She was barley healing up as it was.
Dropping her bag on her bed she made her way to her desk before crawling on top of it and out her window, onto the roof that was there. It was her favorite place to smoke, and smoke she did. The chemical inhale burned her lungs and made her head rush but it felt nice. Here she could think, think about what bothered her and how she could get out of her shitty situation. Or she could just sit there without a thought in the world. Just be numb and present in the moment. That's why she liked it there. She found herself falling asleep up there, under the warm evening sun. She felt like she was in a fantasy world, the soft sound of music floating out from her room and the confortable temperature outside.
Unfortunately that sleep did not last long, she found herself waking up to small droplets of rain on her skin and banging at her bedroom door. Shit she thought as she flicked the reminds of what she was smoking into the dirt below before quickly moving back into her room. She closed her window, and quickly turned her music off before letting out a sigh. Might as well face the music now rather than later. She moved the chair out of in front of her door and unlocked it. She wasn't even able to twist the knob before the door came flying open and hit her in the nose, causing her to let out a small groan as a small amount of blood dribbled out of her nose.
And then all hell broke lose. Her father pushed into the room and began screaming, and she screamed back. She never was very good at deescalating a situation or making things easier for herself. The screams soon turned one sides as she was berated with blows. Even when the pain became unbearable she still yelled back, kicking and screaming trying to fight back. That was how it was for her, not only her father but her mother would let their frustrations out on her, after they let it out on each other.
Eventually her father grew tiered and bored of the exchange and left her room. Her only thought was how it ended quicker than usual. Not that it was unfair or how that didn't happen to others. Just that today was a lucky day since it ended so quick. She sniffled as she closed her door and blocked it again. God did that hurt. Her nose, her eyes, her face, her whole body. Everything hurt but she wouldn't let herself cry. She didn't like giving them that power, to know that it actually hurt her. She just grit her teeth and dug her nails into her palms.
Her next move was to grab a bag from under her bed and throw some clothes and essentials into it. She needed a few days away, and it's not like they would notice her disappear. They only came to her room once or twice a week. And they had filled there quota for now. So with that she slipped out her window before throwing her bag to the ground and falling softly to the ground. An escape rout she was familiar with. She made her way down the street before pulling her phone out of her pocket. Hitting dial she brought the phone to her ear
" hello?"
