Chapter 25- Hidden Past

*cough*💙❤ *cough*

Third POV

"Nya? Are you sure about this?" Kai said, a troubled look on his face. "Just because they helped us, that doesn't mean we should just ask them for something this huge." He continued, placing the metal swords on the back of his gi.

"Yes Kai, I am." She said, an annoyed yet determined look on her face. "Besides, we can't just quit. This is our last hope and I'm not wasting it."

Kai let out a content sigh. "I guess you're not my baby sister anymore, huh?"

Nya turned around to face her brother, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I'm still your sister. Just not a baby sister." She chuckled, giving Kai a short yet tight hug. "Come on now. Once we finish, we're visiting mom and dad. And Skylor." A smirk formed on her lips in the last sentence, as she nudged Kai's shoulder.

"Let's just go.." He groaned, ignoring his sister's comment. Nya giggled at the hint of pink on his cheeks, following him outside.

Everyone was waiting on the stables, as they had already mounted on their dragons. Wu, being the only one who always stayed behind, did the same this time. He wanted to 'do some research', as he told them.

"Is everyone ready?" Zane enquired, as he watched Kai and Nya mount on their dragons. The siblings nodded, pulling up their mask along with the rest of the ninja. They signaled for their dragons to fly up, keeping their distance from one another. Kai and Nya's dragons were flying in front of the rest, as they were the only ones who knew the way.

"Where exactly is that place?" Cole shouted through the wind, soon catching up with Kai.

"It should be near Stiix. Maybe even further." He shrugged his shoulders.

"Then we better speed up if we want to arrive there by noon." Cole said. Even though you couldn't see it, he smirked under his mask. And Kai knew exactly what he was thinking. "Race you to there?"

"Bring it on, Boulderhead."

The two softly kicked their dragons' sides, signaling them to go faster. They both couldn't hear each other through the wind, though they could tell what each other was saying, which was most likely friendly insults.

"Wait up!" Nya groaned, extending her arm towards the two.

"Should we follow them?" Jay asked.

"It seems quite fun." Zane added, a smile plastered across his face.

"Fine.. Let's go catch up to them!" She exclaimed, gesturing towards the two, who were way ahead by now.

The three remaining ninjas did the same as Kai and Cole did before, ordering for the dragons to move faster. To their surprise, the dragons seemed to like it, even doing some tricks, causing the three to almost fall.

They had already passed Jamanakai Village by now and were towards the end of the desert that separated it from Stiix.

A few minutes later, they had finally arrived. They were now flying above Stiix, but something seemed different. Something was a lot different. The last time they had been there, it looked relatively tame, with lots of small houses next to the nearby harbor. Now, it looked like a radioactive wasteland. Well, not exactly. The water had become polluted, with lots of litter scattered around the place. Even its general atmosphere was polluted.

"Okay, tell us if you find a pirate ship." Kai said.

"A pirate ship? We're visiting pirates?!" Jay exclaimed. "Are they the ones you told me and Lloyd a couple of months ago?"

"Yup." Kai answered. "Now, let's go."

"Any progress?" Nya shouted towards the others.

"Nothing over here!" Kai exclaimed.

"I don't see anything either."

Nya thought. 'Great.. nothing so far. Not even Zane could find anything..' Then it suddenly struck her. "Wait, Zane!"

"Yes?" He turned around, still on Shard.

"How far can your scanner reach?" She asked. Zane froze for a second, checking something in his code, as Nya assumed.

"My scanner works up to a 50-mile radius. Why are you asking?" He wondered, raising a brow.

"Do you think you can scan the area? They're somewhere here, I'm sure of it!"

Zane nodded as he once again froze, only moving his head left and right. A small beam of light exited out of his right eye, as he scanned the area.

"I don't see anything apart from workers." He said. He blinked once, causing his scanner to close. Nya, disappointed, thanked him for his help and started to go towards the others.

"I didn't finish." He stopped her, causing her to turn towards him. The others had noticed the two as well by now, approaching them. Nya's eyes peeked with curiosity, waiting for Zane to continue.

"I have found a strange structure on a nearby island. It's not far from here, in fact, I think it will only take us a few minutes."

"That's great! Let's try our luck there, right guys?" Nya flashed him a smile, turning to the others.

"Sis, I don't know.. If they aren't here then what are the possibilities of them being on an island?"

"We'll never find out if we don't try." Cole said, sighing.

They all started flying even faster, this time Zane leading the way. When they got to the end of the city and out to the open sea, everything was a lot clearer without the city's constant fog.
Indeed, there was a small island in the distance. It seemed to be rather close, so they flew there in no time.

The ninja flew around the island, once again looking around for clues as to where they might be. But even with Zane's scanner, it was rather hard to locate anything or anyone because of the trees that covered its entire area.

Suddenly, Kai's face lit up. "Nya!" He called her over, waving his hands to draw attention towards him.

Reef flew towards him without Nya having to tell him, as she looked at her brother. "What is it?" She said.

Kai facepalmed. "Well, don't you see this?" He said, pointing over to a cave near the sea.

"See what? It's just a cave." She said, confused.

"A cave that contains a pirate ship inside of it! Come with me." Kai and Nya flew over to the entrance of the cave. Since it was near the coast, the dragons landed on soft sand, which was good considering the sudden landing they did.

The others soon noticed them and landed next to them as well. They decided it was a good idea to leave their dragons here, since they obviously couldn't fit into the cave.

As they entered, Kai lit up a small fire above his hand, thus lighting a small portion of the cave up.

Their sight was dim, but they could clearly see a huge pirate ship in front of them. They stared at it in awe, seeing its enormous size.

Nya hugged her brother from behind. "The Misfortune's Keep! Kai, you found it!" She exclaimed.

"See? I told you I saw something-" Kai started, before Zane pushed him over, making them both land on the ground.

"What was that for?!" Kai said, still on the ground.

Zane pointed to the cave's stone wall behind Kai. Everyone gasped at the arrow that was just shot at them. "I think that someone is watching us. I can feel it."

The others slightly shivered, hearing strange noises echoing between the cave's walls.

"Did you guys hear that too..?" Cole asked.

"It sounded like hissing.." Jay trembled.

Before they could react they saw a figure jumping from the ship, landing in front of them.

"Who are you?!" Kai pulled one of his swords, putting the fire he held on his other hand closer.

The figure hissed once again, walking towards the light.

They weren't surprised to see a serpentine come out of the shadows, although it looked different from the rest they had seen. It was standing on two legs- or rather one leg and one wooden leg, with light green skin. It was also wearing pirate clothes and held a mop in its hands.

"Sstay back! Y-You don't want to make me use thiss!" It hissed, yet its voice sounded scared.

Everybody except for Kai and Nya, although not intimidated, backed away.

Kai and Nya's face lit up. "Clancee?!" Nya exclaimed, being the first one to give him a tight hug. "We missed you so much!" She said.

"W-Wait.. I know these voicess. Kai, Nya, isss that you?" He stuttered, a tone of hapiness in his voice.

Kai nodded, turning towards the others. "Guys, this is Clancee. He's a member of Nadakhan's crew." He said.

"What are you all doing here?" Clancee enquired.

"Well, we came here to see Nadakhan, we've got some.. Questions for him." Cole stepped up, now facing the Serpentine.

"Come then! He's inssside along with the otherss!"

Kai and Nya looked back to the others and gave them a thumbs up. They all smiled, following Clancee inside of the ship.

He led them to the inside of the ship and down into some sort of basement. He opened the door, revealing familiar figures. Kai and Nya remembered every single one of them. From Flintolocke and Dogshank to Doubloon and Monkey Wretch. And then there was Nadakhan and his wife, Delara.

"Captain!" Clancee exclaimed. "Look!"

Nadakhan sighed. "What is it now Clancee?" He turned towards him, only to gasp, attracting his crew's attention. There stood Kai and Nya, with three other people he didn't know behind them.

"Kai? Nya?" Delara said, her eyes widening. Their presence wasn't the only thing she was surprised about though. Nya looked relatively different when she was young, but now, the two looked extremely alike despite the big age gap between them.

Kai and Nya smiled before Zane spoke up. "Hello. We have some questions for you if you don't mind." He said.

Nadakhan, still in shock with the rest of his crew, ordered for Flintlocke to bring them some chairs to sit on. "Please, take a seat." He said.

So yeah! The Jaya subplot shall begin on my birthday! I wanted to write a bit more, but I didn't have the time. Oh well..

C ya!
