Chapter 4-Bumping into Anusha

After lunch, I enter Arjun sir's cabin to remind him about the upcoming meeting.

"Hello sir, your meeting for tomorrow is scheduled so let me know if any changes, "I say while keeping the documents on his table.

I look at him; he is just starting the window.

"Sir", I call louder.

"Yes, Vasuda did you just say something?" Arjun sir looks at me puzzled.

"Sir, you're not yourself today, should I come later?"

"No wait, can I ask you something?" Arjun sir questions me.

"Sure sir" I reply.

"The shares of the company are going down, and we want to make it big, so we are in the process of a tie with a company, but doubtful should I go ahead with this? This person whom I'm thinking about the tie-up is considered as one of the best businessmen in the country but ruthless one and will this decision will be good for the company?" Arjun sir says sounding serious.

"Sir If you say he is a ruthless businessman, then you need to tie up with him, he may do wonders for the company and hopefully the shares will rise again, if he is like you then maybe we will go in profit by leaps, just my suggestion sir" I reply to him.

"Yup thinking the same, by the way, thank you Vasuda," Arjun sir says smiling.

"No problem sir and Preeti ma'am had called and asked for you?" I reply.

"Oh shit Vasuda I forgot about the date with Preeti, she is going to kill me one day "Arjun sir panics.

"She calls for you every single day and I give her the same replies so don't keep the poor girl waiting" I give him an assuring smile.

"Thank you and you may go now Vasuda, "Arjun sir says dialing hopefully to Preeti.

Later Evening I come home tired, to see my bundle of energy dancing around.

Pari is picking the toys scattered around the home, "Thank you Pari for babysitting my daughter",

"No problem Vasuda," Pari says while grabbing her bag and moving out.

"Hey my girl, missed mummy?" I kiss Zia on her cute nose and she makes faces.

"Yes mummy", she comes and hugs my legs.

Picking her and placing her on my hip, I carry her to the kitchen.

"So my munchkin what's the menu?" I ask her while placing her on the kitchen counter. We decide on Aloo paratha, which is her favorite.

"Mummy, I'm taking part in a dance competition" She speaks while munching on her paratha.

"Of course baby you are taking part", I answer her while wiping her mouth.

"Mummy this is the list of things we need to get for the dance" Zia replies while handing me the list.

As I go through the list, 4000/- is the budget. A tear rolls down my eyes. Even for a small amount, I need to think about how to manage the budget for the month but seeing my baby's happiness, all worries fade away. And maybe next month I will purchase a mobile which was planned for this month, whatever money I have set aside, will use for Zia's competition.

"Yes Munchkin we are going shopping and we will get all the things" I reply while cleaning the dining area.

"Thank you, mummy, you are the best" I smile at her declaration, and watch her beam with happiness which is all I want from my daughter. We wind up for the day, wash the utensils, my baby is a non-stop talker, I don't require mobile, nor television set, nor Instagram or any other social media to pass my time, Zia is my Nonstop Stressbuster.

The next day, while going through the mails, I think Arjun sir is now emerging with one of the most popular brands of India, everyone is very much excited about it, the new collaboration will be good for the company and the employees, yes the workload will increase but everyone is super excited as we will be getting a hike in salary, that means I can quit my job at café, and spend more time with my darling. I look at the photo of my daughter placed on my office table, lucky to have her, maybe god finally thought of blessing me with something. I smile and continue working for the day.

The whole day goes in checking emails, sending replies, working on new projects, preparing the PowerPoint presentation, scheduling the meetings, calling the clients that are the most tiresome job, nobody knows but I'm an engineer by degree graduate but here doing clerical work, as my documents are at the home place where I left everything behind me. This job provides my bread and butter with no reason to complain. Brushing off the thoughts I remind myself, "Don't think negatively you now have a purpose in life".

"Hello ma'am", I see a young employee extending her hand towards me, smiling.

"Hello there, new joinee?" I reply to her arranging the table.

"Yes ma'am", she says "I'm Anusha rai".

"Hello, I'm Vasuda Arora" I extend my hand.

"I joined last week, wanted to introduce myself to you, but you were busy," Anusha tells me.

"Oh yeah a bit busy, by the way, welcome to the Khanna's" I reply with a genuine smile.

"Ma'am you're the first lady to give me a warm welcome, otherwise nobody is willing to talk to me. I'm not the ideal girl around here, but we work here, come on, here girls are so mean and rude" She speaks in a sad tone

"It's okay Anusha; you can come and talk to me whenever you feel alone"

"Thanks, ma'am," Anusha says and we continue to work for the day.
