#66

" What's your problem?!"

"What's my problem?" Dean replied with disbelief. "I tried speaking to you many times now, why are you ignoring me?"

"Oh, forgive me your highness, I didn't realize it was normal to hear your annoying voice in my head." I said irritated while standing up from the ground.

"Look, I'm not here to fight you. Can't we just have a peaceful conversation at least for now?"

"Huh? You want to have a peaceful conversation with me?"

Does he think I'm stupid or something? Tsk, I wouldn't believe him even in a thousand years to come.

"Yes."

I stared at him some more and he stared back unblinking.

"Oh... okay, so what is it you want to say?"

I couldn't think of any reason why he would suddenly want peace, and I didn't trust him at all, but I couldn't help being curious. What did he want?

"You can't tell anyone about that night." He finally said.

"Night? What night?"

"Night with the dream and me helping you. Does it ring any bell? " He spoke in my head which more than annoyed me.

"Why do you suddenly mind link, can't you just speak normally like a normal person? And how is it even possible that we can mind link or whatever it's called."

He scrunched his face as if irritated, then took three deep breaths before speaking.

"If you haven't noticed, I don't want anyone to hear what I'm saying that's the reason for the mind link."

"But no one is in a hearing distance psycho!"

I could see how much I aggravated him, it was a surprise to see him hold himself back from yelling. But I couldn't say he held himself from almost tearing his hair off. Did I anger him that much?

"Are you that dumb banshee?" He paused to breathe in before speaking. "If you had been taking your lessons a little serious, you would know that the distance between us and the others right now wouldn't stop them from listening in."

"Oh... I, uh... Remember that now"

Of course, how did I forget so soon, Valkyries had the ability to hear a lot further than the distance humans could. I didn't realize it was this much distance though.

"Alright, but how about my second question? As far as I know, except Meg and the headmaster no one else can mind link."

" Well, my ability to mind link isn't exactly a well known fact. Back to why you are here."

"Wait, pause first, let me get this straight. Apart from fire and teek, you can also mind control?"

On my question, he rested his back on a tree bark, crossed his hands and smirked.

"Not exactly mind control, but I can do a lot of things."

Really? how much bigger could his head be.

"Tsk, I suddenly don't want to know what a lot of things mean. Now, can we go back to the problem at hand? " I indicated by waving my hands around to direct his attention to our surrounding which was not where I wanted to be.

"As I was saying. About the attacks you encounter in your dreams, I believe its best you keep it a secret for now."

"Why? I think its too late for that, all the captains know of my nightmares already."

Instead of a reply from him, all I got was a blank stare so as usual, I stared back.

"You do realize that you have to reply me, right?" Dean asked aloud.

"I just did."

He stared at me some more until his eyes widened in realization.

"Oh, I didn't tell you, you have to reply outwardly. You can't mind link and I can't listen to your thoughts."

"What? But Meg..."

"Yeah, yeah. I told you it wasn't exactly mind control, I can only speak not hear."

Shaking my head in disappointment I replied him. " And for a second I believed you were outstanding. Such a shame, it's really lame if you ask me."

"Oh, shut up, and no one asked you. So what was your reply? By the way, you have to come up with a closed off reply were no one but me will be able to understand. Let's see how good your brain is."

"Uh, let's see. Uh... They" I started, pointing in the direction of the captain's. "Know already."

"I doubt they know anything. They might know that you usually have nightmares, but they don't know the details of the nightmares."

"That's spot on."

"Good, it's best it remains like that."

"Why exactly? You can't really expect me to believe you without an explanation."

"The less you know, the safer you'll be. You just have to trust me."

"How? And why do I do that? What do you even mean by that statement? "

"It's either you blindly trust me or..." then he made a gesture of his tom crossing his neck in a show of slow death and walked away.

Oh my God! That bastard. Why the hell did he do that, was that a threat? Or a warning? Gosh, I have so much on my hands, I don't need more problems.

I followed him slowly back to the camp, and on getting there, I was instantly hit with several curious looks from the captain's.

"Wow JJ, you never told us of 'that night' with Dean. " Ro said making sure to stress the word that night.

"What nigh? Oh... oh, I assure you, It's not what you think. " Woah... Dean was right, they heard everything. And of course, Ro would only remember the words 'that night. '

"Really?" It was Jody this time with a wide smile on her face. "I think we exactly know what is on everyone's mind right now. "

"I can't believe you guys right now, of everything you heard, you are more interested in 'that night'?"

"Of course KK, " we want to know what happened that night. " Jobber said with a giggle.

I turned to Dean to find him sitting smugly without a care in the world.

Damn that bastard, I had to face their questions while he sat satisfied with himself.

Just as I was about to give an excuse, Wulf immediately spoke.

"Come to think of it, the morning I came to wake you up for breakfast, I happened to follow under your window, and I saw something disturbing. Dean, would you mind clarifying that?"

Dean immediately blanched.

"I don't know what you are talking about. " He said and immediately walked away.

"Okay, what was that about?" I asked.

"I should be asking you that, seeing as I found your window with a gapping burnt hole and our dear prince sleeping under said window."

"Oh shit! It's... It's not what you think."

Then they all bursted into laughter. And Jobber being the boy he is starting singing.

"JJ and Dean, sitting on a tree."

"K-i-s-s-i-n-g..." Ro, Jody and Enga all sang.

"You are dead banshee, you are so dead."

At that moment I wished for the earth to swallow me whole. I became red with embarrassment.

All the jabbing and singing by the captains carried on for a while. At first I wasn't happy about being the specimen of all jokes, but after watching all the captains laugh and throw hilarious punch lines I began I laugh along.

It was even more hilarious when the one and only mute Tharza felt it was time to open his shell by throwing in his own punch line. Yeah, even if it was a one worded joke which made absolutely no sense at all, it still got us laughing hard.

Night soon came and it was time to sleep. Dean as usual took the first guard with Ro.

And when everyone had retired, and the fire was put out. I got to work. And by working I mean the struggle to keep my eyes open.

With every event of the past, I got to understand something very crucial to basic existence, and that is. 'My greatest enemy is sleep.' I know it sounds stupid, but with everything happening during my sleep, I don't know when my luck will run out and I would never be able to wake up from sleep anymore. So I decided that no matter what, I would conquer sleep. And today began my first mission.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
It wasn't easy at all, it was horrible. I almost gave up, I did at a point but the thought of whatever demon waiting for me at the other side scared me more into keeping my eyes wide open, and so, when morning came, the captains where up and we continued our journey to hell.
Meg led the way, how she knew what direction to go was a lost cause. We all trusted her though and so, we followed her.
We had been trekking for hours until Meg called to us to stop.
"We should rest here for a while. According to my calculations we should be able to reach our destination in 1440 minutes at most." She announced.
"Which means?" Jobber asked.
"A day at most, we have a day to reach the gate of hell." On saying that, Meg sat down on a log of wood and began preparing a fire.
I hadn't even sat properly when Meg called to me.
"JJ, come over. It's time for your first lesson."
"What, now? I thought it would start when we are in Valhalla? "
"No, follow me."
We walked a while and stopped at an open space, far from the others, and then she sat cross legged on the ground and nodded in front of her which I believed was a sign to do same.
"This is your first test." She began.
"I'm going to use my powers to visit your mind, I want to find out what you and the guardian talked about. I know he told you not to disclose it, so use whatever means you can to stop me, or else that information will be available for grabs."
"What?!"
I couldn't believe what I heard, damn... Who knew Meg was also a gossip. Interesting.
Truth be told, I didn't even know why Dean insisted on keeping it a secret. They were just dreams. Well, dreams that could kill me but either ways they were still dreams.
Not until I felt an itch in my head did I take her serious. Woah! She really meant it.
I was just in the process of figuring out what to do, either trusting Dean and finding a way to block her out, or letting her see my dreams when my fingers began to tremble.
Oh no! The tingles are back, are we in danger? I thought. But as much as I tried to pinpoint that danger I got more and more confused. The tingling intensified whenever I felt Meg in my head. It softened only when she was pushed slightly out.
Oh God what is this? Did this mean Dean was right? Exposing my dreams meant I was in danger? But why?
The tingles reached my upper arm, and I realized that Meg had entered enough to hear my thoughts. It was only with time before she saw into my memories. I couldn't let that happen.
I didn't know what was going on, but I understood one thing. Not even the captains could protect me from my dreams, on the contrary, they would be of harm to me. Well, I didn't know about Dean, but I needed to do something about Meg right now.
However I tried to get her out didn't work, the longer she remained in my head the more fear took hold of me.
I tried to imagine the mist, but it still didn't work. I called to Cicero but she was also clueless. I began to panic, sweat broke out on my skin and my tingles quickly intensified.
All of a sudden she stopped. Stared at me for an uncomfortable while and slowly retreated out of my head. I had no idea why or what made her do that. Maybe it was how desperate I looked, or she could feel my fear but either ways she stopped.
"If you badly don't want me to know that information, then you need to come up with an offensive attack, because next time, I won't hold back."
Saying that she left me and walked back to camp.
What is going on? I feel as if I'm about to explode. My head spun around but I couldn't fall. I was beyond confused.
The only thing I needed right now was answers, and there was only one person who could provide that. Dean.
So with a mission in mind I jogged back to the camp.
Just as I was about to come into view, someone grabbed me from behind and held my mouth closed tight. I couldn't scream, I tried to fight off the person but whoever it was, was stronger.
Slowly, I was turned around to face my attacker. But the face that met mine, rendered me speechless.
"Meg? Wh- what are you d-doing?"
