I Won't Conform
What does society wants?
Burp without being loud
Because you are a girl?
Wear nothing but sundresses?
Yeah, for your whole life.
Not because I'm a girl
Means I will conform
To the girl ways of this world.
No I won't eat 'petite' amounts
To keep a shape I'm not interested in.
No I won't be in the kitchen
To learn to cook for a husband I don't want
Moreover I'm sure I've got a gut too.
No don't even talk about marriage
Much less having kids
My dream: Live by myself for the rest of my days.
And don't even bother talking about hair
Because if I don't want to care it
Then you should just leave it.
Not because I'm a girl
Means I'm going to follow the:
Girl Ways
Nah! Not even one bit.
But one thing's for sure:
I'll always be a girl.

So I wrote this poem to address the stereotypical thinking of society that all girls should do things that are called the norm. Some of them include wearing certain type of clothes such as just skirts and dresses - what if a girl feels comfy in shorts or pants? Also one major stereotype is that once girls are of age they should get married, cook for the huzy and pop babies out every month (okay not every month) but once they don't they have not accomplished anything in life. I mean don't we females too want to experience life without the burden of having to cook for the male species and having kids. Sometimes I think society forgets that we females eat as well. This brings me to the other point: why do people believe that females should eat small amounts? You may as well just feed us on a grain of rice, a string of meat and a drip of juice or water for the amount of food you believe we should eat. Then society says we should be size zero. I'm not even going to say a lot on this (because it's argued like almost everyday) but if you feel happy with the number of pounds on your body then stay with it and don't starve yourself and also if you want to get married and cook for the huzy and have kids, by all means (well not all means ☺) go ahead and don't let my ranting stop you after all this is just my opinion.
