there were some aspects of sao i really did enjoy. the premise was AWESOME...but the execution was eh.

but the animation and art is glorious and its so visually impressive ajfhshdhchj the colors and general style is beautiful imo

i liked gun gale a little more than the past other seasons? idk i just have a massive boner for guns so.......hah

the rapey and sexual parts of the show are almost insulting, especially the tentacle scene they stuff in there in the fairy arc. they butchered asuna and slapped her into a distressed damsel (that sHE NEVER WAS BEFORE!) and they made kiritos sister want to bang him. and also the extra rape

but i actually really liked the mothers rosario arc. it was genuinely sad and i was moved?? the concept of terminally ill children living out their last days in a video game, bc that's the only way they can even have a fulfilling life, was heartbreaking and felt really fresh. seeing the frail little girl dying of AIDs in the hospital actually being the strong, cool character we had been following was...very distressing

i think if sao hadnt been a trashy harem light novel and instead was a dark horror-action it would be a modern masterpiece
