Chapter 11
Taehyung stood in the lobby of a hotel where despite the late hour, he was left waiting for his aunt who had told him to meet her there.
A bit uncertain over his own thoughts he stood there watching people come and go till his phone vibrated in his pocket and got his attention. He was soon met with a text from his girlfriend Sira, who asked him if he was still at work. He couldn't help but smile thinking of her waiting at their couch for him and because of how cute her care seemed to him at that moment he couldn't help but leave a smile to appear on his lips while his orbs reread the few words she had texted.
He started texting a reply to her but he ended up not being able to finish and send it, as he got an incoming call from his aunt and reflexively responded to the call.
"Please come to room 2013" Her voice reached at his ear as soon as he placed the device near it and the call ended as soon as t had begun.
A little perplexed over this Taehyung gave a look at his surroundings then proceeded to walk over to the elevator, now feeling a bit uneasy with this meeting even though he was the one that had called her requesting to see her.
There was just something in the way things had turned out so far that left him with a weird gut feeling. Even though no reason for him to be uncomfortable really existed. His thoughts traveled to the past as he stood in the elevator, going up, closer to the destination he was mean to be at. He could recall all the times he as a kid had met his aunt, how sweet and loving she tended to be with both him and Jimin. How she would bring them the best and most expensive gifts and how she would scold them every time they were to fight over anything with her own kids.
"You shouldn't fight with JaeHyun. You are a family." She used to say and as Taehyung recalled her gaze back then, he suddenly felt himself losing confidence in his current stance. Could it possibly be true? Could she have really meant something closer than a cousin when she had told him that they were family? He couldn't help but doubt for an instance and then immediately after feel guilt over that fact.
No. I am sorry father. You would never cheat. I know you weren't that kind of person. No.
He argued in his head, a bit angered over his own feelings then he stepped out of the elevator as the doors of it opened and set him free at the hall where he walked on, till he reached the door he was supposed to and knocked on it without hesitation.
No matter how kind she was to appear before him. No matter what warm and motherly vibes his aunt was to radiate to him. No matter how much she was to resemble his dear mother on appearance, he was not gonna let himself get fooled. He came here to put her in a tight spot and get the truth out of her. He came here to let her know that neither he nor Jimin are planning to let her step over the name of their late father just so she could benefit from it. Yet...Once the door opened, he felt his strong intentions vanishing before the warm eyes that resembled his mothers so much, the smile that filled him with nostalgia and a warm embrace that almost brought him to tears.
Why? Why did she have to look so much like her? Why was it that despite how old he had grown, he still missed his mother so much that even though Taehyung was aware that it was not her, it still made his heart clench from the desire to feel his mother's warmth once more in his life?
---Change of set---
Jimin opened the door of his mansion for you and you entered with a smile, feeling happy that you were there as indeed it had been a while since you hadn't visited this place.
"Oh, it is as clean as I last remember it." You commented as you looked down on the floor, seeing your reflection as you passed by.
"The new maid has been doing a good job," Jimin replied as he approached you and brought you in a back hug, action that made your steps come to a halt.
"You have yet to remember her name? It ain't even that difficult of a name. Anna." You said while leaving yourself to get comfortable at the warmth of his body and the small giggle that he left beside your ear before he proceeded to peck your neck lightly.
"I don't tend to keep in mind the names of people that aren't of some emotional importance to me, except if it's something university-related or company-related and I am obligated to." He admitted as he pulled away, taking hold of your hand as walking further inside towards the living room.
"So, you remembered my name cause I was your student?"
"Yes, but your name is quite beautiful."
"You didn't think the same back then, I am sure." You gave him a cheeky look intending to tease him a bit about his past behavior as you two reached the couch and he sat on it, pulling you along.
"It's true but that was because I didn't think much over how your name sounds or how it doesn't. I sure miss the days I was less whipped for you." Jimin replied as he left his head to rest on your lap and looked at you with a smile.
"Wow, I can't believe you really said something like that. You admitting so casually that you are whipped? What happened to your ego, Mr. Park?"You joked as you left your hand reach to his forehead and move out of his face a strand of his hot pink hair.
"You melted it with your love, Miss Y/N." He replied as he left his hand reach to your cheek while he looked at you in a way that got blood to rush on under your skin, bringing a slight blush to your face.
The adoration his eyes held while looking at you along with the silence that followed after, with him not once looking away. It felt as if he was doing something magical at that instant, It felt as if time had stopped and it was just you and him in this world and a universe full of stars and galaxies that laid all in your eyes, and it was so mesmerizing that he couldn't get enough of it. He couldn't look away.
But you deprived him of this amazing view as you looked away, feeling the intensity of the moment. Your heartbeat was rasing fast, almost as fast as your thoughts that consisted of fear and uncertainty.
"What's wrong Y/N?" Jimin questioned with a worried gaze as he stood up from his laying position and faced you properly but you remained quiet not knowing how exactly to respond to that. What was it that was wrong with you truly?
"You know, I am here to listen to whatever it may be that is bothering you. Please talk to me." H cupped your face in between his hands and looked at you in a pleading way, letting you know that your silence was making him suffer too because he felt unable to reach you and comfort you. He felt as if you had shut him out and no matter how much he cared and wanted to help, he could only be an observer.
"I am so sorry Jimin." You apologized understanding in what position you were putting him and awfully as you felt for that, you leaned in and gave him a tight hug, and he wrapped his arms around you and kept you safe, his hands stroking your hair lightly and rhythmically, till you would have found the strength to speak again and calm down your rapid breaths that were hitting against his chest as that was where you had buried your face.
"Please don't think that I am weak, I just-"
"Shh, what nonsense is that. Everyone has the right to feel up and low, that has nothing to do with how strong they are. You are you and you have lived your life and made it till here. No matter how many times you broke on the process or not, the fact that you went on is what makes you admirable. My brave Y/N." You felt his grip getting a bit tighter as he spoke as if he wanted to reassure you that in between his arms, there laid a comfortable space for you and someone's heart who would never judge you for anything, nor criticize you in any way.
"Jimin...remember back at my house, that night new Year on my room where I was being sad over Helena's death?"You spoke, feeling encouraged enough to speak about it at that moment.
"Yes, I remember." He replied and you pulled back in order to meet his eyes.
"Remember that I told you that she was my best friend and was there for me as I was getting bullied back then and then she moved away with her family?" You added and Jimin nodded his head recalling that conversation you had clearly.
"Well, I stayed half a year in that school, while she wasn't there, and then my parents and I moved back to this country and left mom's birthplace. Because I..." You felt a knot getting tight inside your neck, so heavy and painful that made your words unable to come out.
Your eyes started getting filled with tears which you fought to withhold and Jimin looked at you with a pained expression, feeling his chest growing heavy and baleful at the thought that crossed his mind.
"I was doing well with managing all the bullying, I really thought I was. And while Helena was there I was stimulated to be stronger because I had someone who cared for me. I had someone I didn't want to let down, someone I didn't want to make sad by making her lose me but after she left, the distance started getting to me. The bullying got more intense and I...found myself, in a place where I had reached my peak. Yet someone threw that last drop and I can't forget that day! It scares me, It haunts my thoughts! "Your voice started getting louder and louder as you spoke, feeling your emotions growing too powerful for you to control.
"I wanted everything to stop! I didn't want to be strong anymore! I just wanted everything to end! I wanted everything to disappear! So I-!" Jimin brought your words to a halt as he suddenly took hold of your face and brought it closer to him, your forehead touching his. Your rapid breathing was hitting against his lips yet he looked at you calmly with soft eyes that didn't display pity or disappointment as you feared that he would feel if you ever were to let him know.
"Thank you." He uttered full of gratitude and love in his gaze." Thank you for going through that pain and making it out alive. Thank you that you lived. I am truly so grateful for your existence."
At those words, you couldn't help but lose your grip over yourself and start crying, simple tears that soon became sobs, loud and clear, and as he held you in his arms again, they were mixed with laughter and smiled, feeling relieved and free form a big burden you carried inside you.
I am happy too that I survived. So much that it almost makes me think that the road was worth it if it meant that you were waiting for me down the line.
