Little bit of background information for the Broken AU

Spirits

Spirits are the souls of creatures in the Overworld. Spirits are prone to lashing out due to uncontrollable anger. The longer a spirit stays in the Overworld (or any realm that is not heaven or hell), the more dangerous the spirit becomes. Spirits can be called ghosts, as their soul is white compared to the black souls of hell and the blue souls of heaven.

Souls

Souls have three forms; a translucent cloud, a snakelike liquid/gas substance, and the typical ghostlike form. The translucent cloud is how most creatures view souls, and this form takes up the least amount of energy as it is used when souls are resting in heaven. Angels, demons, and other creatures that can touch souls will see a translucent figure of the creature rather than a cloud. The snake form is used when the soul is moving, healing, or being handled by an angel. This form can grow as it is fed holy water, a special treat for souls. When the snake has grown to a large size, the form has enough power to shift to a ghostlike form. This form takes up the most energy and is only used to communicate with creatures that typically cannot see the soul.

A soul cannot see, hear, touch, or detect any living creature unless the creature can touch the soul in its weakest forms. This allows souls to communicate easily to its caretakers or handlers (usually angels).

Angels

All angels have two commands; to serve the god of heaven and protect the souls. In order to protect the souls, they have a special power that can block memories until only the happy memories remain. This keeps the souls calm and prevents fights from erupting in heaven.

There are five types of angels; archangels, Guardians, reapers, sentries, and the angels of death.

Archangels are the leaders of heaven. These angels protect the other angels and are recognized by their golden tipped wings.

There are two types of Guardians; those who reside in heaven, and the wingless guardians that live in mortal realms. The Guardians in heaven interact with the souls more than any other angel. These Guardians also have the stereotypical snowy white wings and are responsible for every soul within heaven. The wingless Guardians in the mortal realm protect the humans. Guardians make up the majority of the angel population.

Reapers are wingless angels that transport souls to heaven and, occasionally, hell. Reapers are in less fights than any other type of angel. Reapers are often depicted in black cloaks and robes.

Sentries guard the entryways of heaven and alert the archangels of any intruders. They are recognized by their grey tipped wings. Though they are not as deadly as archangels, these angels are not to be messed with.

There are very few angels of death within each universe. This small population is due to their specific task of locating and persuading resurrected and loose souls to commit suicide. These angels call out to these souls to visit a set place to meet up with the angel of death so the soul can return to heaven or hell. Angels of death are recognized by their black tipped wings and are typically locked away until they are needed.
