Chapter 2

"So you're telling me that these - kids - were exposed to some chemicals and now have supernatural gifts?" he said, glancing at the girl on the screen nervously.

"Basically, yeah." said a female, following his gaze.

He shook his head in disbelief. "They survived the bombing, were exposed to some radiation, and miraculously survived. This isn't a Marvel comic book, this is a war. And people don't get gifts like that. It's not physically possible." he said.

"I'll prove it." she said.

"Don't you dare - " he started, but she ran to the control panel and slapped a button.

A door opened on the back wall, revealing a small space where she could communicate with one of the people.

She ran to it a pressed a button, which sounded a buzzer in the room. The girl opened her eyes, looking around.

The woman pressed the buzzer again, and the girl stood and slowly walked over to the source of the noise.

"Hello?" said the woman, the man standing behind her.

"Who's there?" Snapped the girl, looking around wildly.

"My name will remain anonymous, but I wish to speak to you about your - condition."

"The fact that I got bombed and now am locked up in a US army base?"

"No... Do the thing with the purple stuff."

"No."

"Please?"

"Why should I?"

"I'm trying to prove a point to someone."

"Fine."

The girl held up her hand, cupping it as if trying to hold something in it. A purple sand seemed to form in her hand and coming up. She closed her eyes in concentration.

"See?" breathed the woman, and the man's mouth opened in awe.

The sand began to swirl around her, forming a cocoon around her. Once she was completely covered with the sand, it shot out in all directions. Her eyes were open, but no longer their natural blue color. They looked like a galaxy.

"Boom." said the woman, turning to face the man. He was watching her closely, trying to figure out what she was doing.

She sat on her bed, curled up and staring at the foot of her bed with a faraway look in her eyes. Truth was, she wasn't looking through her own eyes right now.

She was watching the girl speak with the three new children. She knew her...

She stood, walking over to her. She tapped her shoulder.

"Hey, can I talk to you... in private?" she asked the girl. She shrugged to the people talking to her, and said "Brb" and followed her.

"Multiverse..." she began, looking at the girl. Multiverse tipped her head the side.

"I see... so much... out of nowhere." she said, unsure of how to phrase it.

Multiverse smiled. "You belong in another world, doncha?" she said to the girl, who nodded.

"It's okay, just... try to stick with me."

***

"Bring them together."
