Six

Two hours into my road trip, a certain angel appeared next to me, his large wings folding over the back of the passenger seat. I swerved the car in surprise, barely managing to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

"Andrea" he began but I held one hand up, keeping my eyes on the road.

"I don't want to hear it Castiel" I refused. "You already know why I won't forgive you, so why don't you just run along to your Winchesters"

Castiel was silent for a moment. "They told me she died while I'd been away" he admitted "I never meant to be in heaven so long, and I didn't know about you" he sounded sincere, but there was something pulling at my gut.

"What about the angels that did know, the ones you got my name from" I chewed the inside of my lip, still angry.

"My superiors at the time, the ones who would've known, they have passed. Killed by either the Winchesters or myself, otherwise the angels who were supposed to be be watching you had standing orders to keep it a secret. They didn't want me to be distracted" Castiel explained. "I can be persuasive"

The car was silent, save the engine and the radio that'd been playing quietly. "So if you had known.."

"I would've fallen a long time ago" he finished. "Your mother was the most beautiful being I'd ever seen, she hunted monsters yet had such a gentle heart."

Smiling, I glanced at the angel "She told me stories about you, when I was younger. How she'd fallen in love for the first time in a long time" I told, ignoring the odd feeling my gut was giving me,

"You are just like her" Castiel pointed out "in looks and in spirit" he paused. "Did she ever.."

"Yeah" I glanced at him, his expression full of memory. "I knew who you were, everything you told her about heaven, she told me" I paused.
"She taught me everything I know, as a hunter and an angel" my fingers tightened on the steering wheel slightly at the memories that threatened to surface.

"I want to try" Castiel said suddenly. "I know you hate angels and you hate me, but I want to have a relationship with you"

I almost would have chuckled if I hadn't known he was being serious. "I can't" I replied quietly. Castiel looked away from me, watching the passing scenery. "What I mean to say is, now that I know why you didn't come back, I need some time. I've spent my entire life resenting you for what you did to me and my mom, plus I already have everything in my life set up. I have a home, a job, and people I have to look out for"

"I understand." He sighed "I won't push you, but if you decide you want to, pray to me, and I will always come. No matter the reason"

"Thank you" I tuned my head, but he was gone.

...

Zander had texted me his location ten minutes before I arrived in town. It was an abandoned warehouse in the middle of nowhere.

Carefully taking the safety off my gun, I tucked it in my pants. It had specially made bullets filled with deadman's blood, and allowed me to weaken vamps from a distance. Then I picked up my machete and looped the sheath through my belt loops on my already worn jeans.

This could get incredibly bloody.

Quietly making my way around the dusty warehouse, I smirked when I saw a door that stood slightly ajar.

Taking my gun, I pulled the hammer back and prepared to shoot, holding the weapon out in front of me.

I kicked the door open, stepping into the dark building. My footsteps echoed, despite my best attempts at keeping quiet.

"If it isn't the half angel" an ominous voice sounded behind me as the lights were flipped on, come to find out I was already surrounded. "Drop it"

The man's eyes flashed black, as did many in the crowd. "What do you want?" I wondered as I placed both weapons on the floor, just managing to keep my grace from lashing out at the twisted souls.

"A chat?" The leader shrugged, snapping her fingers as Zander was dragged out in front of me. "Your boy here was all too willing to lure you out when I threatened his life, shame you don't have friends who are loyal"

"What kind of chat" I ignored my soon to by dead ex-friend on the ground who had backed up against me. Betrayal was swelling up inside me and I fought against my grace to keep it contained.

"Let's make a deal" the woman began, her short blonde hair swishing as she walked toward me.

Scoffing, I rolled my eyes "as if I'd make a deal with the likes of you"

"Not that kind of deal" the demon growled "we hear you're in the business of supernatural protection, Lucifer has taken hell and killing our precious king, Crowley's loyalists"

"So what, you think I can or would protect a bunch of demons from the actual devil?" I wondered in disbelief. "I hate demons only slightly less than angels"

"Yes, but think about it, there's about twenty of us here, you'd have a small army at your disposal, all you have to do is hide us" the woman proposed.

"Mmm pass, my grace is already irritated being near you, I can barely hold it back" several demons stepped away from me as I said that, but I continued "and as far as protection goes, I only do that for monsters who actually deserve it, such as being bitten or being born with it, but they just want to be normal. As far as I'm concerned Lucifer can have you"

I stepped over Zander, pushing down the guilt. He'd betrayed me, and now he has to deal with the demons he helped.

"If you won't help us, you won't leave here alive" the woman growled, starting to walk toward me.

Without turning my around, I let my grace free, ignoring the screams of the dying demon souls as they went to the Empty.
