Draco's POV:

I sat up with a gasp. Sweat poured down my face from the fear that ran through my body. I had just woken up from a night terror, I couldn't remember. I looked around my surroundings, and began to panic when I didn't recognize anything. I looked down to my side, having felt something move. The Granger girl was resting her head on my legs and appeared to be asleep.

I let out a small sigh of relief at finally finding something familiar. I gently let my hand play with her hair. She let out a soft moan and leaned into the touch. With a small chuckle, I watched her for a moment. That's when a man in a white coat and blue scrubs walked into the room.

"Ah, you're awake. Good. I need to check on you. How are you feeling?" He spoke calmly and softly, having probably realised that the woman to my side was still sleeping.

"I feel fine." I wasn't lying either. Because of all the drugs they had me on I felt lighter than air. "Who are you and where am I? I've never been in a place like this before." I was still beyond confused.

"You're in a hospital. I'm the doctor in charge of you. We are going to watch you for a few days and make sure we can release you." He stated factually. He then glanced down at my hand that was still running through Granger's hair as she slept, myself doing the same. "I'm surprised she's asleep. You've been here for a little over 13 hours and when she found you, it was late in the evening. This is the first time I've come in and she's been asleep. She refused to leave your side the entire time. Nearly tore the head off of one of our nurses when he told her she had to leave." He chuckled slightly at the thought.

I just kept looking at her. She looks so peaceful. More so than I have ever seen her before.  "She is... just so caring." I muttered under my breath. She forgave me. She saved me. She stayed with me while I was unconscious. Why? I was so confused.

She started to shift slightly and I retracted my hand from her hair. I watched as she slowly lifted her head, and looked around confused for a moment, before her eyes landed on me. Her eyes flashed with something I didn't quite recognize and then she did something I didn't expect her to do. She smiled. She smiled at me. ME! The person that tormented her, her entire childhood. "Thank Merlin you're ok. I was so worried." I was to stunned to speak. She was worried about me? The she punched me in the shoulder. "How dare you pull that stunt?!" She slapped my chest. "What if I hadn't been there to find you?! What if I had been to late?! What if you had died?!" Tears were streaming down her face now as she continued to hit me in the shoulder and chest. Every hit getting weaker till she stopped and covered her tear soaked face with her hands. "W-why?" Her voice broke, and so did my heart in that moment.

I shocked even myself, as I learned forward and pulled her into my arms and to my chest. I heard a gasp escape her lips as I did so. "I-im SO sorry, Hermione. I didn't mean to scare you like this. I didn't mean for it to go this far. I didn't mean to almost die. I just wanted it gone. I needed it gone. I'm so sorry. Please, forgive me?" My question came out as almost a whisper.

She looked into my eyes for a moment and I could see the pain in hers. I cupped her checks with my hands and wiped the tears away with my thumb. I truly scared her. "Of course I forgive you. But you're going to have to work extra hard for me to trust you again. Until then I'm not leaving your side." I couldn't help the small smile that traced my lips in that moment. "Draco Malfoy, are you smiling at the thought of me pestering you all day every day?" A smile made its way to her lips as well and I couldn't help but chuckle.

Then the doctor cleared his throat as to alert us that he was still in the room. We pulled apart and looked at him. He was smiling at us. "You'll be free to take him home in three days. Then, he's all yours Mrs. Malfoy. " He told Hermione. I raised an eyebrow at the name and she only blushed and gave me a look that said 'I'll tell you later'. I simply nodded at her and the doctor left the room.

The next couple days went by slowly. I wasn't allowed to do anything. Hermione never left my side, like she said, except to use the restroom, of course. She brought me my food and some books to keep me occupied. We talked occasionally but not much. She did end up explaining to me that, she had to say she was my wife to be able to stay in the hospital with me. I didn't ask any other questions. Just went through the days. Soon enough though, it was time for me to go back home. Hermione helped me back, sense I didn't know where I was. I had never been to the hospital before, and didn't recognize the surrounding buildings.

She called a cab for us, another thing I had never done before, and we went back to my apartment. I led her up, and let us in once we were there. "Make yourself at home." I mumbled to her and gestured to the couch that sat in the living room, just off the kitchen. When I noticed the blood stain on the hardwood floor, where I had fallen, I grimaced. I grabbed a bucked of soapy water and a brush and started to scrub up the old blood.

"What are you doing?" I heard Hermione ask me from just a few feet away.

"Cleaning. What does it look like?" My voice was more cold than I intended, but she didn't seem to notice.

"I can see that. I meant why aren't you doing it with magic?"

I didn't look up at her. "I don't like using magic in my home. It makes me feel lazy. Or useless." I mumbled.

She got down on her knees next to me and placed a finger under my chin, slowly turning me to face her. My grey eyes met her brown ones and I felt my breath catch. She was so close. I could feel her warm breath on my lips. I wanted more than anything to just lean a little closer and feel hers on mine, but I stayed where I was and looked into her eyes. Trying to figure out what she was thinking. "You are not useless." Her voice was quiet but firm. "I need you, Draco. I need you to realize how many other people need you. How much you're worth. You may not have had a great family before, but you have one now, and we're not going to let you throw your life away."

"Who's my family? Weasley? He can't stand me, still. Harry? He just feels bad for me. And you? After how I treated you for our entire childhood, I'm surprised you can be here in fron-" She cut me off by placing her delicate lips on mine in a firm kiss. I froze at first but soon kissed back. She slid her arms around my shoulders and tangled her fingers in my hair. I let out a soft groan and placed my hands on her hips. I pulled her against my body. We soon had to break apart for air though.

She broke the kiss but we still held each other close, resting our foreheads against one another's. "Draco." I loved the sound of my name on her lips. "Please, don't talk like that. I need you. I will always need you. I have always needed you. Sure, when we were kids you were a total ass-"

"Hey!" She let out a soft giggle.

"You know it's true. Anyway, but you being the way you were made me work twice as hard to prove I was more that just a 'mudblood'." I cringed at the old name I gave her. "I'm the smartest witch of my age." She said the last comment smugly and I smiled at her.

"I don't deserve you." I whispered.

"I'm exactly what you deserve." She said definitely. She then pecked my lips and stood up. "Come on, I'll make lunch." She held out her hand and helped me up. I put the cleaning supplies away and sat at the bar, watching her work. She is so beautiful.
