31. The Attack

Alfred's view:

Midnight arrives, and it is feeding time. My aunty, two cousins and I are in our werewolf forms, hunting for meat. Any type of meat. It has been 4 days since I last hunted and had a proper meal, and I am getting weak. We are deep into the forest, every tree looking like the last, taller and taller. We are getting closer to our prey, I can feel it. Hunger has taken over my senses. Anything for food. I need it. I must have it, now!

We have been searching for nearly two hours now, coming empty-teethed.

"Where is the meat?" I growl, my eyes fixed on the surroundings. Searching.

"Patience is key, my darling," Aunty says, her tone patient as she looks around.

"Well, I am hungry," I state as we walk. "I need food, now!"

Just as we were searching, aunty comes to a halt, her legs shaking. "There is a great danger ahead."

"What are you talking about aunty? I'm sure it's nothing! Let's go"

"Sweetheart, I know what I feel. Evil is ahead."

"Oh, that's right you have that ability aunty. To sense or see future danger," I remind myself.

I continue walking, my cousins following but aunty a couple of feet behind us, wary. Just as we make out way through the clearing, we notice a pack of what looked like black-furred werewolves coming our way.

Probably just hunting. Keep going.

My thought is proved wrong when they stop in a horizontal line, each one having a red thunderbolt on their sides and on their front paws.

This doesn't seem good. Who are they?

The bigger of the wolves, the leader possibly, growls loudly, a frown fixed on his face as he comes over to us.

He snarls something to his wolf companions. The lot of them come closer, enclosing us in a large circle, I spin around looking for an escape, anything that would indicate sloppiness on their behalf but no, they were cunning and smart. No spaces anywhere.

Drats!

"What do you want?" I growl, my shoulders lifting to show them dominance.

"You," the alpha replies, his golden eyes sparkling as he howls.

"Too bad. You ain't getting me," I hiss. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll take my leave."

I turned around and I am met with the ferocious gaze as an unpleased wolf, shaking his head with a smirk.

"Any closer and you might as well kiss me!" I retort, a smirk on my face.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you, boy!" aunty's harsh whisper cut through the night like an arrow through an apple.

Yada, yada, yada!

"I do what I want," I whisper back, but obviously not quiet enough. A sharp pain pelts my spine.

I yelp in pain turning around to find the alpha next to me, the death expression on his face.

I'm in trouble now. Oh, he is going to kill me.

"Like I said, I will be on my merry way now," I say, pushing my way past the alpha and his supposed 'bodyguard.'

Just as I thought I could leave, my hopes were turned sour when 4 wolves stood around me, circling me, hunger in their eyes as their tongues are poked out.

I'm going to become their next meal! Think Alfred, think! Now is not the time to be dumb.

"Get him!" the alpha yells, lifting his nose to the sky.

From the corner of my eyes, I can see him step back and another 3 wolves step forward, licking their lips. They mean business.

I back away slowly, only to bump into a tall wolf who shoves me towards his friend, my head burying into the soil but I am quick to recover, standing up straight and shaking my head.

From the corner of my eye, I see one of my cousins and another wolf rolling around, paws all over each other, teeth bearing, an all-out brawl. A claw digs into me, tearing at my side but I pounce on them and punch them out cold with my paw.

Sleep well child.

I run forward and sink my teeth into another wolf, biting a huge chunk from their side watching them as they drop on the ground and bleed out. I do the same to a couple more wolves until three jump on top of me, biting me and pinning me down.

Just as I shake them off, a sharp jab is felt at my neck and without looking twice I fling whatever it is off of me and a loud thud sound accompanied with the sound of a tree falling. I run towards another wolf but stopped when a something heavy lands on my back, knocking the air out of me and I drop to the ground. Teeth sink into my side and I lay there, no energy left to fight them off anymore. Stars dance in front of me as darkness threatens me.

"Let's go," a voice says, followed by the sound of paws against the leaves.

I was laying on the ground, my body aching so badly, every cut stinging in the fresh breeze, my energy sucked out of me. From my position, I can see my aunt's fairy floss body lying still and both my cousins mahogany bodies also lifeless.

No... It can't be, please make a move. Please live. Please.

A tear falls from my eye as I lay there, every move I try to make restricted. The laughter of the wolves sounding in the air.

"I told you attack and bring them back. Not kill them, you are to come home to me now," a females voice sounds faintly out of no where.

Who is she? Where is she? Why is she bringing havoc? Will I die?

My questions are racing through my head as I lay there, my blood soaking into the leaves and dirt.

Save me. I don't want to die.

I hear a faint familiar voice echoing, "Alfred? Alfred, what happened to you? Are you ok?"

My breathing becomes ragged and heavy as I try to speak but fail.

"Don't speak. It's ok, I'm here," he says.

I look up slightly to see Falcon rushing over, kneeling in front of me now. His violet fur glistening in the moonlight.

"Fa-" I try to say, only coming short as I try to breathe, the pain growing as the wind grew stronger. I want to scream. I want to cry. I want to die.

I start to see double, I couldn't focus, everything was tripling.

What's happening to me?

Everything started to go black, falcons voice snapping me to focus.

"Stay awake buddy, don't sleep now," he says calmly.

I can feel his arms wrap around me as he pulls me up into a standing position. I keep snapping out of consciousness, Falcon bringing me back to focus. Darkness finally winning.

-------------------

I wake up, my body stinging and my eyes blinded, unable to focus. A ceiling now above me. Where am I?

I look around and see Falcon, Mark and his family around the room. How did I get here?
