two

If there is one thing in this world that I hate more than mornings, it's morning meetings. Nothing screams 'I'm 2 seconds from ending it all' like meeting around a big table with your twin brother and a bunch of adults while they discuss budgets at 8 o'clock in the morning.
"There is one last thing I'd like to address about this wave of villain kids." Fairy Godmother mutters carefully, her eyes flickering to me for a split second.
"Sure," Ben nods, "what's up?"
"Harry Hook and Hannah of the Southern Isles." Fairy Godmother speaks, now avoiding eye contact with me.
"I'm handling that- wait. Hannah?" I begin before cutting myself off. I knew Harry was struggling but he never mentioned Hannah. He probably didn't even know, stop assuming things.
"Yes, I've had a few complaints about those two cutting class together. We're not sure what goes on, but the two of them are often absent during the same class periods. We have no choice but to assume the worst and I reccommend bringing them in for questioning." A security guard who I've rarely seen around campus states, glancing around the room. "They could be planning something."
Okay, maybe you could assume a little.
"No." I immediately jump in, shaking my head. "Harry wouldn't do anything like that- like what you're implying."
Ben sighs, placing a comforting hand over mine, "Bev-"
"No, listen- I know I'm biased, but there's no way Harry would be involved in anything like that. I know he's struggling with his classes but he hasn't been here long enough to get used to things. The other villain kids had trouble adjusting too but look at where we are now! You have every right to be wary, but don't sit here and imply that my boyfr- Harry is some kind of bad person." I erupt, slamming both hands on the table and pushing myself up out of my seat. The sound of the chair legs screeching off the floor echoes through the room as everyone stares at me with bewilderment in their eyes.
"Young lady, need I remind you that the first wave of villain kids tried to steal Fairy Godmother's wand and bring down the barrier?" The security guard snaps, fire in his eyes as he glares at me.
"What's your name?" I question calmly.
"Thomas Evans." The man replies, a confused expression settling on his face.
"Well Thomas Evans, you're fired." I state firmly, slinging my backpack over my shoulder and storming toward the door. I grab the handle, before turning back to my peers, "Oh, and as for Hannah- I've never gotten to know her, but I'm sure she's just as lovely as Mal and Evie."
Liar. You hate her.
With that I exit the room, slamming the door on my way out. My heart races as I sneak my way into the school, trying my best to blend in with the other students.
I can't believe I just did that. What is wrong with me? What part of me thought that it was okay to lose my temper like that?
"Beverly, hey!"
I frown at the beckoning, ducking my head down and quickening my pace. I can't face him right now, not when my blood is pumping this fast. I'll say something I'll regret.
"Darling?"
I wince at the nickname, pushing through a group of friends to get to my first class of the day. That is until a hand grabs mine and I'm pulled back into the crowd and dragged back down the hall.
"Wha- Harry! What the hell? I have class!" I complain, trying to pull myself away from the boy. Unfortunately, he pushes me lightly down an empty hall as the bell rings.
"Why are you ignoring me?" He bluntly asks, leaning against the lockers with his arms crossed over his chest.
I shrug, avoiding eye contact as I glance down the other end of the hall, "I'm not ignoring you, I just told you I have to be in class."
"You have a study hall first period, why are you lying to me?" He questions, his tone begging for me to look at him. I hold strong though, leaning against the locker beside him.
"I'm not lying," I sigh, adjusting myself to get away from the lock that jabbed me in the back. "I just have things to do and no time to do them so I need this class time. You know how busy I am."
Liar. Well, half liar.
"Look, love, I don't want to fight with ya, but ya do this twitchy thing with your nose when you lie." Harry laughs, turning his body to face me.
I stare straight ahead, rolling my eyes, "No, I don't."
"You did it again!" He laughs, grabbing my hand. "What's wrong, Bev? I don't want to break up before I can even ask you out."
I bite back a smile, my heart fluttering in my chest at his words. God, please ask me. "I just got done with a meeting." I mutter, looking down at our interlaced fingers. "I went kind of crazy for you and I don't know- I don't want you to think I'm some jealous psycho."
"Just tell me." He insists, moving to stand infront of me.
I feel my cheeks heat up as he leans down toward me, his other hand trapping me against the lockers. Hesitantly I look up, my eyes locking with his as I sigh. "Are you ditching class with Hannah?"
The boy laughs, looking at me with disbelief in his eyes, "that's it? That's what you're mad about?"
"So you are!" I accuse, pulling my hand away from his.
"No, love, I'm not. She sneaks out a lot so I follow her to make sure she's not up to something. She doesn't have the best reputation on the Isle and I want to make sure she doesn't cause you anymore grief than you already have."
My heart melts at his words, my hand reaching for his again as I close my eyes, "God, I am a jealous psycho, aren't I?" I chuckle, shaking my head.
I'm such an idiot.
"Yeah, but you're my jealous psycho." He leans down more, our lips mere inches away from each other.
Oh my God our second kiss. Oh God. Oh God. Please, just do it.
"Hey! Shouldn't you two be in class?" A voice interupts from the other end of the hall. I groan, rolling my head to side to see Evie standing there with her arms crossed over her chest and a smirk on her red lips.
"You're an asshole!" I complain, ignoring Harry who leans his face down onto my shoulder. I giggle as he chuckles, his breath tickling my neck. "Stop it, that tickles." I whisper, running a hand through his hair.
"Hey! No PDA in these halls, get to class. You're such a bad example!" Evie teases, making her way toward us.
I use my free hand to flip her off, pushing Harry's head away from me, "She's right. I have a lot to do. I'll see you guys later." I pat Harry's cheek gently and push myself off the lockers.
The boy has other plans though and pulls me into a hug, placing a kiss on my neck, "We'll finish this discussion later." He promises, sweetly smiling at me when I pull away.
I roll my eyes, turning back to the blue haired girl, "Don't tell anyone I've gone soft."
"Oh, no! I would never." She giggles, throwing her hands up in mock surrender.
I take a few steps backward, pointing at the two of them, "you better not, or I'll go beast on you! Both of you!"
"I wish you would!" Harry calls.
That's my cue to turn on my heel and walk away before he can see how red my cheeks get at such a simple comment.
He knows what he does to me.
What an ass.

This chapter sucks, but those are the sacrifices you have to make sometimes to build up the plot 😪 (that's total bs, I just rushed it cause I feel awful making you wait so long.)
This isn't edited, but I do plan on going through this book and changing the aesthetics a bit.
I missed you guys! Hope you enjoyed! PLEASE don't be ghost reader! If you enjoyed this chapter and want more please vote and comment cause it really helps more people find this book and get to experience Beverly's world.
Okay, this SUPER long now. Hope you enjoyed the fluff at the end, it won't get too spicy cause I have a lot of young readers, but fluff is good for your soul.
LOVE YOU BYE!!!
