-Chapter Two-
Frisk woke with a yawn. She hadn't meant to fall asleep. She looked at her watch. Four oh seven. Her stomach growled rather loudly. Both Chara and Flowey were gone. She hobbled downstairs on shaky legs.
"Hello my child. Are you feeling well?"
Frisk nodded, remembering the lie Chara had told to hide her breakdown.
"Where's Chara?"
"She went outside with Flowey. Make sure you all are washed up by five. I'm making vegetable stew!"
Frisk walked outside and didn't see Chara anywhere. She looked in the tool shed and behind the bushes, but to no avail. She was about to go back inside when an acorn hit her back. She spun around and peered through the thick branches of the tree. A flash of yellow, Flowey's petals, told her where they were hiding.
She hoisted herself up into the tree, wincing as the branches tugged at her sweater. She managed to get to where Chara was, and seeing Frisk, she shoved a protesting Flowey on the other side of the thick tree trunk so he couldn't see them.
"Hey."
"Hey. Why were you hiding?"
"Oh! We weren't hiding. Mom told us to go outside. She said that I was too pale." She looked a nearby wasp nest in disgust,"Ugh. Outdoors. This tree was the only thing that had shade."
Frisk looked up, catching a glimpse of the blue sky through the branches. She took Chara's hand and started pulling her up the tree.
"Hey! What are yo-"
"Shh. Follow my footsteps."
They slowly made their way up the tree, Chara shaking a bit. Frisk smiled encouragingly at her.
"Only a little farther."
They broke through the branches into the sky. Frisk looked around while Chara gasped in awe.
"Have you been up here before?"
"Only once, when we first moved here."
They looked around in silence. The town stretched out before them. In the distance a little boy was running around with his dog. Frisk sighed happily, leaning into Chara.
Frisk looked up at Chara. She was looking at her, blushing slightly. Frisk stretched up and kissed her.
Chara inhaled sharply through her nose, but soon melted into the kiss. Frisk wrapped her arms around Chara's neck, playing with her hair. Chara seemed unsure of what to do with her hands, but settled on pulling Frisk closer.
And so, twenty-seven feet above the ground, they shared their first real kiss. Bits of leaves and twigs were in their hair and they deepened the kiss, lips moving in sync.
They broke apart, breathing heavily. Chara smiled, her face crimson.
"Well. Ha ha. That was, pleasant."
Frisk giggled, her face nearly as red as Chara's.
"Mmhmm. We should probably go for dinner now. Vegetable stew."
They climbed down, and frisk could've sworn she saw the curtains of the upstairs bathroom swinging shut. They nearly forgot to grab Flowey, who hissed at them. The pair stepped into a bathroom to wash their hands. They sat at the table with Asgore, Toriel, Sans and Papyrus.
"NYEH! HELLO THERE HUMANS! TORIEL HAS MADE A DINNER THAT IS NOT SPAGHETTI! WOWIE!"
"heh. hey ya kiddos."
"Howdy Chara, Frisk."
They began eating. As Chara bit into a carrot, she froze, dropping her fork.
"My child! What is wrong?"
"The last time I had this was with him. I tried snail pie. I hated it. And he... He"
She turned and fled up the stairs, sobs echoing down the hall. Frisk stood and followed her hastily, ignoring the questions from her family.
"Chara! Chara wait up!"
Chara slammed the bedroom door and Frisk pulled it open, worried about her. She sat on the bed next to Chara, who had buried her head in the pillow. She turned to face Frisk.
"I j-just miss him s-so much. He w-was m-m-my best f-friend. My b-brother. I know h-he's not d-d-dead, but he's not h-here. A-and I-"
"It's okay. Shh shh. We'll get him back someday. I promise. Don't cry. Please."
She took a deep, shuddering breath, wiping her face. Nodding, she sat up.
"That's good. Now, let's go eat, we didn't eat lunch either."
As they sat back at the table, Chara kept her gaze firmly on her bowl. An awkward silence filled the room, disturbed only by the clinking of silverware on bowls. Sans coughed and pushed back his chair.
"thanks tori, but i'm not that hungry"
With a blue flash he disappeared, and a dull thump followed by a muffled curse told them that he had misjudged where he would land. Chara snickered, almost spitting out her food.
They finished dinner, and after Frisk and Chara did the dishes, they each tried a slice of banana cream pie, a new recipe they Toriel was trying out.
Asgore sat next to Toriel on the couch, and Frisk found herself hoping that they would get back together. It will make things easier for when we get Asriel back, she thought. They put on an old rerun of Family Feud.
"Name one thing,"The announcer said,"That goes with milk."
Chara immediately shouted out,"Chocolate!"
The guy on the tv said cookies, and after a minute, they found out that chocolate wasn't even on the list.
"Huh! How dare they? Chocolate is the answer to everything!"
They continued with the Chara answering chocolate to each question, no matter how stupid it sounded.
After that episode and a game of Apples to Apples Chara and Frisk headed up to bed. After pulling on their pajamas they brushed their teeth and Frisk brushed her hair, trying to tug the bits of leaves out. She blushed, remembering their shares kiss. Frisk wished that Chara would be more open with her feelings and that they would tell everyone that they were together.
As they went into their room, Frisk looked out the window. There was a shooting star right above the tree. Laying in each other's embrace, it seemed that nothing could ever go wrong. It was all just perfect.
But things change.
I'm super excited to publish this! I'm trying to keep the chapters around 100 words.
