Luca
I awake to the sounds of struggling.
Another simulation? Can't be, I'm awake.
I pinch my leg to make sure, because at this point I can't tell what's real or fake anymore.
Confirming that I'm awake, I crawl to the maxi glass and look out.
A girl was pushing against two agents, trying to get loose.
The agent on the left effortlessly opens the door and shoves her in, uncaring to the fact that she skidded against the concrete.
The agents walk away, talking about brunch or whatever. I lean against the maxi glass separating me and the girl.
"You alright?" I ask.
She turns to me. "No."
"It's okay, it happened to me too." I say.
She looks at me stoically. "Are you Pangaean too?"
"What?" I ask.
"Well, I mean, you look at least 23, and at this age in Pangaea you'd be killed." She rambles.
"What? Why?"
"Because you're a guy, and the guys get killed around poratoa ignes, which translates to 21." She explains.
"Thanks, but I'm only 18." I say sarcastically.
"Oh, sorry." She says. "Your stubble makes you look older."
"Well you look about 19." I estimate.
"Why are we talking about ages when I just got caught?" She asks, burying her face in her hands.
"I dunno, what's your name?" I ask.
She looks at me, shooting me a fake smile. "I'm Estelle, also known as Esty, E, and Est."
"You don't strike me as an Estelle, you look more of a Christy." I say, nodding.
"I don't look like a Christy." She says rolling her eyes.
"I dunno, I knew a British little girl with the name Christy, It's probably the accent." I say, then add. "Or the hair."
"My hair is naturally a really dark auburn, I dyed it." She says. "What's your name, mysterious cell boy?"
"It's Luca." I say.
"Why are you here?" She asks.
I gulp. "It's not important, maybe you should get some rest."
"Luca." She says, her grey eyes boring into me.
I sigh and pull up my sleeve, showing my arm, which was full of deep green scales. "This."
"Wow, how'd this happen?" She says, pressing her palms against the glass separating us.
"I got bit by some lizard as a baby, and the poison kinda marinated in my arm and did this." I answer.
"That's so cool." She says.
A loud buzz follows her statement, followed with the almost gibberish sentence: "Simulation spray almost prepared."
"Huh?" Estelle asks.
I smile. "Sim spray, it puts us to sleep and they control our dreams. It's a part of making us crazy so they can experiment better."
"Oh, can you predict it?" She asks.
"Nope, they spray it rand-" Then we're both out cold.

Estelle
I stand on the ledge of a building, holding onto the fence behind me, looking down.
"I see you've finally taken my advice." A familiar voice says from behind me.
I look over my shoulder and see Maverick. "Mavie?"
"Don't call me that, to you, I'm Maverick." She says, sneering at me. "How did I ever love you?"
"We're sisters, Maverick, remember?" I say, furrowing my eyebrows.
"Were, we were sisters, I disowned you the second you told me that you wanted to leave." She says.
"I wouldn't have left if you wouldn't had told anyone!" I say loudly.
She nods. "Jump, it's all you're good for."
I squeeze out a tear. "No."
"Do it." She says, walking towards me. "Or I'll push you."
"Push me." I say. climbing back over the fence.
She comes at me, at full force, I meet her with equal force, knocking her with my elbow between the eyes.
She blinks a few times before grabbing my wrist and twisting it till it pops.
I grunt then knee her in the stomach, then push her off.
Bending over the fence. I watch her fall. "Thanks for the lesson, not-real-Mavie, I miss you."
"Estelle?"
I whirl around and see August.
"Oh my god." He wraps his arms around me.
"Aug?" I wrap my arms around him.
"I thought you left me." He sighs.
"I would never leave you." I say, looking up at him.
He smiles lightly. "Good, I knew you wouldn't."
"Are you real?" I blurt.
He cocks his head. "What do you mean? Of course I'm real."
"So this isn't a sim?"
He shrugs. "I don't know, but let's just enjoy our time together."
"Yeah." I say, holding him tighter, burying my face in his shirt, taking in his manly scent.
"Where should we go?" He asks. "We can go anywhere."
I smile. "Let's stay right here."
"Sounds good to me." He says, starting to sway.
I sway with him, looking up into his eyes.
"My adoptive mother says hello, by the way." He says.
"Make sure she knows I say hi back." I say.
"Will do." August says, suddenly dipping me.
I squeak, holding onto his biceps. "Don't drop me."
"Wasn't planning on it." He says, pulling me back up.
A loud gunshot rings through the air.
"What was that?" I ask, looking away from August.
August releases my waist.
Looking back towards August, I see him dying on the floor. "Auggie!"
A blood puddle pools around his torso, reflecting the lights of the stars.
I fall to my knees next to him. "August, can you hear me?"
"Yeah, barely." He says, obviously straining from the pain in his stomach.
My eyes widen. "I think I can help, just hang on." I press my hands on the wound.
"E, that's making it worse, just please, hold my hand." He holds out his hand.
I take his hand and hold it tightly. "I'm sure Nigel explained this to me, I could probably do so-"
August sits up suddenly and coughs up a bunch of blood.
"This can't be real." I say, rubbing his leather-jacket clad back.
He sighs. "E, I don't wanna die."
Tears start spilling out of my eyes. "Please don't leave me."
He leans into me, and with the most vulnerable voice I've ever heard, he says, "Just hold me."
So I do, I wrap my arms around him and cry into his hair until he went limp, and everything went black.
