Chapter 14 🔞

Words: 8.4k

The company listened to their demands and adjusted. That was worse in some ways. It could soften its voice, change the shape of the cage, file the edges smooth enough that anyone looking from outside might mistake it for care.

Henry was removed with immediate effect but at what cost? The word permanent had not been accepted by the company, but Juwon had pushed enough paperwork into the room that they no longer dared to call him Jungkook's manager in any direct sense. Choi Minsung's appointment came through by email before noon, wrapped in language so clean it almost looked harmless.

On the surface it appeared as if they had listened to all their demands and accepted it. But in reality, they remained in the same prison with a new warden taking charge.

Jungkook had stared at the email until the words blurred.

It should have felt like progress. A month ago, even a week ago, he would have thought Henry's name disappearing from his schedule would be enough to let him breathe. But freedom, he was learning, did not always arrive like a door thrown open. Sometimes the person holding the key simply changed hands and smiled better. Sometimes a threat stopped wearing bruised knuckles and learned to speak in legal clauses.

Beside him, Taehyung had laughed once and said, "They really think changing the collar changes the dog."

No one laughed with him.

The company's final warning came less than an hour later through Juwon, because they insisted on caution. They still insisted Jungkook's public image could not afford disorder. They still insisted one careless moment could cause sponsor withdrawal, investor panic, production delay, and claims for damages.

Twenty billion won sat inside the conversation like a knife placed politely on the table. No one had to say it loudly. Jungkook heard it anyway.

Twenty billion if he broke what they could argue as obligation. Twenty billion if the company found a way to make his love look like sabotage. Twenty billion if he gave them enough rope to tighten the noose around his own throat.

It did not matter that Juwon had already explained how much could be fought. It did not matter that Seokjin had cursed so creatively under his breath that Taehyung had looked impressed despite himself. The number stayed. It pressed against Jungkook's ribs until breathing felt like another thing he had to do carefully.

So they clenched their jaws and swallowed it.

Choi Minsung arrived at Jungkook's building at three in the afternoon, wearing a dark coat and polished shoes. He stood in the lobby with two company staff behind him and smiled when Seokjin stepped out of the elevator first.

Most people smiled at Seokjin because he was handsome enough. Minsung smiled because he probably thought Seokjin was still only a cook with a temper and good cheekbones.

Seokjin looked him up and down once. "Why are you here?" he asked, unimpressed.

Minsung's smile did not waver. "Jungkook-ssi has a personal schedule outside according to his calendar and I noticed Taehyung-ssi will also join him. Until the interim terms are finalized, I will accompany him for risk management."

"No."

The smile thinned by a fraction. "It is my job, Mr. Kim."

"Your job is to receive his work schedule from the company and send it to Juwon-ssi, then wait until someone gives you permission to be useful." Seokjin adjusted the cuff of his jacket with such careless elegance that Jungkook would have laughed if his stomach were not already tight. "This is a personal trip and you're not needed for this."

"It is a personal trip in a public setting involving two high-profile artists," Minsung replied. "That is exactly why I am here. If something happens involving crowd control, then I need to be prepared. The company will have to take the blame for lack of protection and that'll be terrible."

Seokjin heard the unspoken threat. They could secretly leak Jungkook and Taehyung's location and cause a problem, later blaming it on them. The elevator doors opened behind Seokjin before he could answer.

Jungkook stepped out with Taehyung beside him, both of them wearing caps, masks, loose jackets, and the kind of expensive plain clothes stylists called casual only because none of them had ever paid rent above a meat shop. Jungkook kept his head down out of habit. His body still knew how to make itself smaller beneath a manager's gaze. His body still knew the old arithmetic of survival.

Lower your eyes. Keep walking. Do not give them a reason.

Taehyung's gaze went straight to Minsung and cooled. Namjoon followed last. His gaze swept over the new manager, but he did not say anything.

Minsung's eyes moved to him, paused, then returned to Seokjin. "This is..."

"My brother and Taehyung-ssi's bodyguard, Kim Namjoon," Seokjin said.

"I was not informed Mr. Kim Namjoon would be accompanying them."

Seokjin smiled. "That sounds like a personal problem."

Jungkook pressed his lips together beneath the mask.

Taehyung looked away like he was hiding a laugh, though nothing about the day was funny enough to deserve one. Maybe that was why the almost-laughter mattered. Small rebellions had kept them alive for years. A muttered nickname, a ruined schedule, a hoodie Henry hated all were things that kept them going.

Seokjin smiled at Minsung as if he were deciding which part of him would bruise first.

Minsung's gaze sharpened, but he did not push. They were in the lobby where security cameras watched every angle and Juwon had already made it very clear that private residence access, personal movement, and security control were no longer toys the company could pass between managers.

The manager's gaze swept across the cameras with a grimace. He cleared his throat and he followed them to the car, followed them in his car with the two men who came with him and entered the mall with them.

He followed like a shadow that wanted to be mistaken for protection.

Jungkook felt him three steps behind even when he did not turn. He felt Minsung's gaze on the back of his neck in the elevator, in the glass reflection of stores, in the pause before every escalator, in the way strangers looked over and then looked away when Namjoon's broad frame shifted just enough to block their line of sight.

Minsung was not the same as Henry. There were no muttered insults, no fingers digging into his arm, no rough shove toward a waiting car. That did not make it better.

Sometimes fear did not need a hand on the body. Sometimes it walked behind you in silence and reminded you it was there.

"This is ridiculous," Taehyung muttered under his breath as they crossed the third floor. "He's staring at us like we're planning to rob the place."

"We are," Namjoon said.

Taehyung almost tripped and Jungkook's head snapped toward him.

Seokjin did not even blink. "Real estate, shopping, emotional support crimes, whatever helps you walk naturally."

"Hyung," Jungkook whispered, horrified.

Namjoon's mouth twitched. "Relax. We're just buying clothes."

"Oh."

When Seokjin announced they're going shopping that morning, Jungkook wasn't very interested. He said he already had enough. But Seokjin had given him that secretive smile and told him that he'll regret it if he didn't go. So here he was.

The boutique waited at the quieter end of the floor, tucked between a jewelry store and a private styling studio with frosted glass doors. It was the kind of place Jungkook had entered a hundred times for fittings, brand pulls, sponsored outfits, things selected for him before he saw the price tag.

He had stood under soft lights while strangers adjusted collars and cuffs and told him how beautiful he looked, how expensive, how clean, how perfectly styled, and every time, some small stubborn part of him remembered Jimin's fingers tugging at a cheap shirt in their old apartment, telling him he looked good enough to make the whole street jealous.

This store felt different even before they reached it. The staff did not rush to greet him and they did not bow too deeply.

One woman near the entrance glanced at Namjoon first, then at Seokjin, and something unspoken passed between them.

Jungkook's pulse jumped as he caught the subtle exchange. Namjoon entered ahead of them. Minsung tried to follow immediately, but Seokjin lifted one hand and stopped him with two fingers pressed against his chest.

It was barely a touch, but Minsung froze anyway.

"Wait," Seokjin said.

Minsung looked down at the fingers, then back up. "Excuse me?"

"Wait," Seokjin repeated, his voice pleasant as poison. "Or did the company forget to teach listening between crisis burials?"

Taehyung made a strangled sound behind Jungkook.

Minsung's jaw flexed. "I need to stay close."

"No, you want to stay close." Seokjin's expression hardened so quickly the air seemed to change around him. "There's a difference. Namjoon is sweeping the place for safety and security. One person is enough for this job."

Before Minsung could respond, Namjoon came back from inside the boutique, gaze sweeping once over the corridor, the staff, the corners, the changing room hallway. Then he looked at Seokjin and gave a small nod.

All clear.

Jungkook's heart hit his ribs.

Seokjin stepped aside just enough to let Jungkook and Taehyung pass. "I already called ahead to inform them of your arrival. Your personal shopper is waiting for you inside. Go choose some clothes."

Jungkook glanced at him.

Seokjin's eyes softened for the briefest second. Go.

"Take your time, no need to rush. We don't have anywhere else to be."

Jungkook nodded once and walked in because his legs knew how to obey Seokjin's kindness better than they had ever known how to obey the company's threats. Taehyung followed, shoulder brushing his once, both of them moving slowly enough to look normal and too quickly for either of them to breathe properly.

Minsung tried to go after them. Seokjin caught him by the back of his coat and pulled him to a stop. This time, it was not gentle.

Minsung's mask of politeness cracked. "Mr. Kim, what are you doing?"

Seokjin smiled. "Sit your ass down."

A chair waited near the front display, elegant and low, meant for rich clients who got tired while deciding whether a shirt deserved six digits. Seokjin pointed at it like he was giving a command to a badly trained dog.

Minsung's eyes went cold. "This is inappropriate."

"No," Seokjin said. "Inappropriate is following adult men into changing rooms during a personal shopping trip. Sit down before I make you sit."

The storekeeper stepped forward with a professional smile that did not reach her eyes. "We value client privacy, sir. Please take a seat."

Then she slid the glass door that led to the halfway they disappeared into close. One of the staff at the front, pulled the shutter halfway down to stop other customers from entering.

Minsung looked from the door to Seokjin, then to Namjoon, who had taken up quiet space near that glass door with his hands in his pockets and the expression of a man who had once made much worse people reconsider their plans.

For a moment, Minsung seemed like he might push. Then his phone buzzed. He looked at the screen, swallowed whatever he wanted to say, and sat.

Seokjin leaned close enough that only he could hear. "Good boy."

Minsung's face darkened.

***

Inside, two staff members met Jungkook and Taehyung with professional smiles. Jungkook finally removed his mask, and glasses, placing them on the small table one of the staff members guided him toward. The simple act of uncovering his face made him feel strangely exposed, even though the boutique was quiet and the glass door behind them had already been pulled closed.

The woman beside him did not linger. She picked a few shirts from the rack with efficient hands, colors and fabrics Jungkook barely noticed, and placed them over his arms as if this were a perfectly normal shopping trip. Taehyung was led away by the second staff member, disappearing behind a curtain of winter coats with one brief glance over his shoulder.

Jungkook should have asked where he was going. He didn't. Anticipation had begun to move under his skin. It fluttered somewhere beneath his ribs and made every breath feel too careful, as if his body had understood something his mind had not been brave enough to name.

Why would Seokjin hyung insist on coming here?

Why would Namjoon hyung sweep the boutique first?

Why had the staff looked at them like they were waiting for a cue?

They didn't even show surprise after seeing him.

The questions came one after another. Hope had become dangerous after three years of having it crushed under someone else's shoe. He had learned not to reach for it too quickly, not to look at a closed door and imagine Jimin on the other side, not to let his heart run ahead of reality when reality had always found new ways to be cruel.

Still, his heart ran.

The staff opened the third changing room door. "This one, sir."

Jungkook nodded, throat too tight for words. The room was dark when he stepped inside.

For one breath, he stood there with the shirts gathered against his chest, surrounded by the faint smell of new fabric, wood polish, and something else he could not catch properly before the door closed behind him.

Then the lights came on.

A hand covered his mouth before he could gasp. Another arm wrapped around his waist and pulled him back into a body he knew better than his own breathing.

For one terrifying second, his body reacted before his heart could catch up. Then the scent of familiar detergent, warm skin, faint sweat, and something so painfully Jimin filled the small changing room, and Jungkook went boneless.

"Baby," Jimin whispered against his ear.

The shirts fell from Jungkook's hands. They hit the floor in a soft, expensive heap.

He turned so fast he almost knocked them both into the mirror. Jimin caught him. Of course he did. He had always caught him, in alleys, in rooms, in sleep, in nightmares, in every version of the world where Jungkook was falling and no one else knew how to reach.

For a heartbeat, Jungkook only stared. Jimin was really there. He was there in the half-light of a changing room, wearing a plain black cap and a jacket too fine to be his own, eyes already wet, mouth trembling with the effort of holding himself together.

Jungkook made a sound that was not a word. Then he was in Jimin's arms. The first hug hurt.

It hurt because his body had been waiting for it too long. It hurt because Jimin's arms locked around him with the same desperate strength Jungkook remembered from their reunion, as if even one inch of space was an insult neither of them could afford. It hurt because Jungkook had spent the whole morning being told that loving this man could ruin everything, and now the only thing ruined was his ability to stand without clinging.

"Hyung," he sobbed into Jimin's neck.

Jimin's hand came up to cradle the back of his head. "I'm here."

Jungkook shook his head, fingers digging into Jimin's jacket. "Hyung."

"I know." Jimin kissed his hair once, then again, each press of lips trembling worse than the last. "I know, baby. I'm here. I've got you."

That only made Jungkook cry harder. He pulled back barely enough to see him and immediately cupped Jimin's face with both hands, thumbs shaking over his cheeks, his jaw, the corner of his mouth, every part of him his dreams had touched until memory became cruelty.

"You're here," he whispered, then kissed his forehead, his eyelids, his cheeks, the bridge of his nose, anywhere his mouth could reach. "You're here. You're really here. I missed you so much. I thought I'd have to wait forever to see you."

Jimin tried to smile and failed. "Where else would I be?" he asked, voice breaking. "You're all I can think of."

Jungkook kissed him then. It was not graceful. Nothing about them had been graceful since the day the world dragged them apart. Jungkook kissed him with a sob still caught in his chest, one hand sliding into Jimin's hair beneath the cap, the other gripping his shoulder like the room might tear open and take him away again.

Jimin answered with the kind of hunger that had nothing to do with lust at first and everything to do with survival. His mouth opened under Jungkook's, warm and familiar, and Jungkook felt three years of locked doors, wrong hotel beds, fake kisses, muted calls, and empty hands collapse into one trembling breath.

Outside, somewhere beyond the changing room, Minsung was probably sitting with his phone in hand, believing inconvenience was the worst thing happening to him. Jungkook almost laughed into Jimin's mouth.

Jimin pulled back just enough to breathe. His thumb swept beneath Jungkook's eye. "What?"

Jungkook shook his head, crying and smiling at the same time. "Nothing."

"Liar."

"My new manager is outside."

"I know."

"He thinks I'm trying on clothes."

Jimin's smile finally came, small and dark and beautiful enough to make Jungkook's knees weak for an entirely different reason. "Then we shouldn't waste the fitting room."

The air in the small fitting room was thick, smelling of expensive fabric, Jungkook's floral perfume, and the sudden, electric charge of two people who had spent three years starving for one another. The space was suffocatingly narrow, the mirrors reflecting their desperate tangle from every angle, but to Jungkook, the walls felt like the only thing protecting them from a world that had spent years trying to erase them.

Jimin didn't let go. He couldn't. He pressed Jungkook back against the mirrored wall, the cool glass a sharp contrast to the searing heat of their bodies. His hands, trembling slightly, slid down from Jungkook's face to cup his jaw, his thumbs brushing away the stray tears that still clung to the younger man's lashes.

The sight broke something soft and terrible open inside him. "Hyung," he whispered.

Jimin's eyes closed. That one word seemed to pass through him like pain. "I've got you," he whispered, his voice a ragged edge of a promise. "I've finally got you, baby. I'll never let you go. I promise. They can't separate us again."

Jungkook let out a broken sound, half-sob and half-breath. There was no space to fall, so Jimin became the ground. He clung to Jimin's shoulders, his fingers digging into the fabric of his clothes as if trying to merge their skin. Every touch was a reclamation. Every breath was a prayer.

Jimin kissed his forehead first. Then his eyelids. Then the damp curve of his cheek

Jungkook trembled beneath each kiss, fingers digging into the back of Jimin's jacket, because there was something unbearable about being touched like he was precious when the company had spent years teaching him his value only existed in contracts, cameras, numbers, and damage control.

Jimin touched him like none of that had ever mattered.

Like Jungkook was still the boy who had crawled into his arms after nightmares. Like he was still the boy who pouted because he wanted Jimin to have his first kiss. Like he was still the boy Jimin had loved before anyone knew how much money his face could make.

"Look at me," Jimin whispered.

Jungkook shook his head once, overwhelmed by the tenderness of it, by the fear that if he looked too closely, he would start crying again and never stop.

Jimin cupped his jaw with both hands. His thumbs brushed away the tears caught beneath Jungkook's lashes, slow and careful, the way he used to clean dirt from Jungkook's face when they were younger and had no mirror good enough to trust.

"Baby," Jimin said, softer.

Jungkook lifted his eyes.

The hunger was there. Of course it was. Jungkook could feel it in the hard line of Jimin's body pressed against him, in the way Jimin's breathing kept catching, in the tension trembling through his shoulders. But beneath the hunger was something heavier. Grief. Relief. Jimin wanted him. He had always wanted him. But more than that, he looked like he was trying to memorize that Jungkook was here. That he had come back to him.

Jungkook's mouth trembled. "Don't look at me like that."

Jimin's brows drew together. "Like what?"

"Like you're afraid I'll disappear."

For a moment, Jimin said nothing.

Then his face cracked. Only a little. Only enough for Jungkook to see the wound before Jimin tried to cover it with control again. "I am," he admitted. "I lost you once. I can't lose you again." He exhaled softly. "I knew how to fight the ones that came at me with fists, but didn't know wars can be fought with words. I didn't know words could be as sharp as a knife. I didn't know it could make me bleed."

Jungkook sniffled. "Where we came from, people meant what they said," he whispered. "If they hated you, they said it. If they wanted to hurt you, they came with fists. It was ugly, but at least you knew where the blow was coming from." His fingers tightened in Jimin's shirt. "But these people..." His voice trembled. "They smile while slicing you. They'll even have a convincing reason to make you believe it's a concern. For them it's business. They make you bleed and hand you the knife like you did it to yourself."

Jimin's tears fell free. "We thought we were being saved. We didn't know." His thumb caressed the apple of his cheek. "We didn't know, baby. It's okay though. We know better now."

Jungkook surged forward and kissed him with a desperation that made the mirror thud softly behind his shoulder. Jimin caught the back of his head before it could hit too hard, one hand cushioning him even while his mouth opened under Jungkook's. That simple care even in the middle of this almost undid him.

Jimin was kissing him like he had been starving. For a while, there was only that. Mouths finding and losing rhythm because emotions kept interrupting. Teeth catching, breath breaking, Jimin's thumb under Jungkook's jaw, Jungkook's fingers in his hair. The sound of fabric sliding off shoulders, buttons opened with hands that were not steady enough for elegance. They had undressed each other hundreds of times before, but this felt like learning again.

The clothes pooled around their feet with the expensive boutique shirts.

When Jimin's hands found bare skin, he stopped. "You're so beautiful," he breathed.

Jungkook's eyes burned again. He should have been used to being called beautiful. Stylists said it, photographers said it, reporters wrote it like an item on a list beside market value and ticket sales. Fans screamed it at airports until the word lost its real meaning. But coming from Jimin, it felt real again.

He believed it. It sounded like worship when he was the one saying it. It sounded like reverence. It sounded like the truth. And it was the only truth he cared about.

"You're so beautiful," Jimin breathed again, his voice thick. "God, you're even more beautiful than I remember."

The air in the small fitting room felt too thick to breathe. The room was narrow enough that the mirrors caught them from every angle. The mirrors showed Jimin's arms around him. Jimin's mouth pressed to his cheek. His hands shaking against his face.

For a dizzy second, Jungkook could only stare at the reflection over Jimin's shoulder. He saw his own cap fallen somewhere near the shirts on the floor, his hair ruined by Jimin's fingers, his eyes red and wet, his mouth swollen already from kisses that had barely begun. He saw Jimin, his form solid and real, holding him with both arms as if Jungkook had been carved out of his ribs and returned after years of bleeding.

Jungkook hid his face in Jimin's neck, his voice muffled and shaking. "Hyung... please. I can't... I can't wait another second."

"Baby."

"I need to feel like I'm yours again."

Jimin cupped Jungkook's face, making him look up. "You never stopped being mine," he said.

Jungkook's breath broke.

"And I never stopped being yours." Jimin brushed his thumb over Jungkook's lower lip, eyes dark and wet and almost angry with how badly he meant it. "Not one day. Not one hour. Not when they lied and kept you away. Not when they put that woman beside you for cameras. Not when Henry tried to make me believe I was nothing. You hear me?"

Jungkook nodded, tears slipping again. "Yes, yes. I hear you."

Jimin kissed them away.

Slowly, carefully, Jimin lowered himself in the cramped space, knees hitting the tiled floor with a soft sound that made Jungkook's heart lurch. There was nothing casual about it. Jimin looked up at him from there, one hand braced on Jungkook's hip, the other sliding down his thigh with a tenderness that made the room tilt.

Jungkook's fingers found his hair immediately.

Jimin turned his face and kissed the inside of Jungkook's thigh, just above the knee first, then higher, slow enough that each kiss felt like a question, an apology, and a promise. Jungkook's head fell back against the mirror. The glass was cold against his skin. Jimin's mouth was warm. The contrast made him shake.

"Hyung," he breathed.

"I'm here."

The words kept returning. Every time Jimin said them, Jungkook believed them a little more.

Jimin prepared him with patience that bordered on worship. There was urgency in his body, Jungkook could feel it, but his hands did not rush.

He reached into his discarded jacket pocket, producing a small tube of lube and a condom. He had come prepared, a silent testament to how many times he had played this reunion out in his head, planning for every detail to ensure Jungkook was safe and cared for.

He slicked his fingers and touched him carefully, watching his face more than the place between his legs, because Jimin had always cared more about what Jungkook felt than what Jungkook could give. The first press made Jungkook gasp, not from pain exactly, but from the intimacy of being opened by the one person who had always known him beyond performance.

"Okay?" Jimin asked, voice rough.

Jungkook nodded, lips parted, one hand pressed to the mirror behind him to keep balance. "Yes."

"Words, baby."

The old gentleness almost made him cry again.

"Yes," Jungkook whispered. "It's okay. You feel..." His eyes fluttered shut as Jimin moved carefully, slowly, so tenderly Jungkook could barely stand it. "You feel like home."

Jimin's breath caught.

He kissed Jungkook's thigh again, harder this time, like the words had hurt him somewhere deep enough to mark. "Fuck, Jungkookie."

Jungkook let out a soft sound, his hips moving before he could stop them. His body remembered this too. Trust. The ache of being held open and cared for at the same time. Jimin added another finger, slow and thorough, murmuring praise into his skin, telling him he was doing so well, that he was beautiful, that he had him, that he would never let anything happen to him if he could help it.

"I'm scared," Jungkook admitted suddenly.

Jimin looked up immediately. "Of me?"

"No." Jungkook shook his head, horrified. "Never you."

Jimin's face softened, but his fingers stilled.

Jungkook swallowed hard. "I'm scared they'll do something. Find some clause. Say I broke something. Say this is my fault too." His voice trembled. "I'm scared even this will be used against us."

For a moment, Jimin's expression revealed nothing. Then he rose to his feet. He did not leave him empty for long. He only came up to kiss him, messy and deep, one hand cupping the back of Jungkook's head, the other at his waist.

"They can try," Jimin murmured against his mouth. "They can bring every clause, every number, every threat they have. We'll face it."

Jungkook clutched him closer.

"We've survived far worse than their paperwork," Jimin said, voice low, almost fierce now. "We survived hunger and cold. We survived being kids with nothing. We survived three years of them trying to tear us apart. I'm not saying it'll be easy, baby. I won't lie to you. But I'm here now." Jungkook's eyes filled again. "And you're not alone anymore."

Jungkook kissed him again because there was no answer large enough.

When Jimin finally rolled the condom on, his hands were steady only because he forced them to be. Jungkook watched him with half-lidded eyes, chest rising and falling too fast, every part of him trembling with anticipation. Jimin's gaze kept returning to his face, searching, checking, asking without words until Jungkook almost smiled through the ache.

"Ready?" Jimin whispered.

Jungkook wrapped his arms around his shoulders and pulled him close enough that their foreheads touched. "Please," he breathed. "Fill me up."

Jimin turned him around and pulled his hips flush to him before entering him slowly. The stretch was deep, familiar and unfamiliar all at once, a pressure that filled more than his body. He clung to Jimin's shoulders.

Jimin chuckled softly, a vibration that Jungkook felt deep in his chest. "Patience, baby. I want to do this right. I want you to feel everything."

Jimin stopped as soon as he was fully inside. His forehead dropped to Jungkook's shoulder, body shaking with the effort of holding still.

"Hyung," Jungkook whispered.

Jimin's breath came out broken against his skin. "Give me a second."

Jungkook understood. Maybe because he needed the same second. To feel it. To believe it.

He pushed his hips back, drawing a groan from both of them. Jimin lifted his head, eyes dark, wet, devastated. "Baby."

"Move," Jungkook whispered. "Please."

Jimin moved.

Each thrust dragged through him like a memory returning to the body. Jungkook felt every inch, every pause, every small adjustment of Jimin's hand at his hip to keep him comfortable in the narrow space. There was nothing graceful about the way they fit against the mirror, nothing easy about the cramped room or the clothes tangled around their ankles, but it felt more sacred than any bed could have been because it was theirs. Stolen time, guarded by a chosen family, carved out from under the nose of a man who thought watching was the same as knowing.

Jimin kissed him through it.

His shoulders, his jaw, his cheeks, his temple, the corner of his eye where tears kept gathering. He whispered between each kiss, voice breaking into fragments Jungkook felt more than heard.

"My baby."

Another kiss.

"My Jungkookie."

A slow thrust that made Jungkook's back arch against the mirror.

"I missed you."

Jungkook moaned. "I missed you so fucking much."

Jungkook's palms pressed flat on the mirror, hips arching into every movement, his own breath coming apart in small helpless sounds he tried to swallow because Minsung was outside, because the world was outside, because even now fear remembered how to sit inside pleasure. Jimin noticed. He brought one hand up and covered Jungkook's mouth gently.

"Let go," Jimin whispered near his ear. "I've got you. I'll keep you quiet."

Jungkook whimpered into Jimin's palm while he moved deeper, steadier, the rhythm growing less careful only because Jungkook's body kept asking for more. He kept pushing his hips back, urging him to give him more. He wanted Jimin under his skin, wanted him in his blood.

Home.

"More," Jungkook begged against his palm, the word muffled and wet. "Hyung, please."

Jimin's control snapped by degrees. His hips moved harder, deeper, one hand braced against the mirror beside Jungkook's head, the other still holding him with aching care. Even when his breathing turned ragged, even when his body chased pleasure, he kept watching Jungkook's face.

Jungkook reached for his free hand and tangled their fingers together.

Jimin looked at their joined hands and something in his face went unbearably soft. He pressed their hands against the mirror beside Jungkook's head and kissed him again, slower than the movement of his hips.

"I love you," Jungkook gasped into his mouth.

Jimin's thrust faltered.

Jungkook squeezed his hand. "I love you. I love you. I love you."

Jimin made a sound like the words hurt and saved him at the same time. "I love you too."

"Say it again."

"I love you."

"Again."

Jimin kissed his cheek. "I love you."

Another thrust as he kissed his jaw. "I love you."

His wet lashes.

"I love you."

By the time pleasure began to gather low in Jungkook's body, sharp and overwhelming, he was crying openly again. "Hyung," he choked out. "I'm close."

Jimin's mouth found his. "I know, baby. I've got you."

The words pushed him over.

Jungkook came with his head thrown back on Jimin's shoulder, his cry breaking soundlessly against warm skin, body tightening around Jimin so hard Jimin groaned and held him closer. The pleasure rushed through him in waves, too intense.

Jimin followed with a broken moan, burying himself deep and stilling there, arms locked around Jungkook as if the force of it had emptied him of everything except the need to hold on.

For a long time, neither of them moved. Their breathing filled the small room. Jungkook's heart beat so hard he felt it in his throat. Jimin's body was heavy against him, warm and shaking. Jimin lifted his head from his shoulder eventually.

Slowly, carefully, Jimin eased out of him, murmuring apologies into his skin when Jungkook winced. He cleaned him with a tenderness that made Jungkook want to cry all over again. He wiped him gently with tissues he obviously packed, kissed every place his hands had touched, dressed him back with fingers that still trembled.

Jungkook held on as he watched Jimin pull on his clothes and carefully use the tissues to clean their mess. When Jungkook's knees threatened to give, he guided him down to the floor and pulled him into his lap without a word.

His hair was messy, eyes red, mouth swollen. Jungkook touched his cheek with shaking fingers. Jimin turned his face and kissed his palm. That simple gesture brought fresh tears to Jungkook's eyes.

"Don't cry," Jimin whispered, though his own voice was not steady enough to make the request fair.

Jungkook laughed weakly. "You first."

Jimin huffed, and the sound was almost normal. Almost old. Almost theirs in the way mornings used to be theirs, when they had nowhere to go and nothing to do but stay tangled until hunger forced them out of bed.

The fitting room was too small for comfort. They made it work anyway.

Jungkook curled into him, face hidden against his throat, one hand tucked beneath Jimin's shirt where his heart beat strong and fast beneath warm skin. Jimin wrapped both arms around him and kissed the top of his head.

"I've got you," he whispered again, voice steadier this time. "I'm not letting go."

Jungkook closed his eyes. The world was still waiting, but for a few stolen minutes, it had failed to take him away.

***

Taehyung was taken through another door.

This didn't seem like a changing room hallway Jungkook disappeared into, but a narrow staff passage hidden behind a curtain of winter coats and silk blazers. The woman guiding him did not speak much. She only smiled once, unlocked a side door with a keycard, and gestured toward the back office.

"Someone is waiting for you."

And Taehyung immediately knew. Still, the moment the door opened and he saw Yoongi inside, seated on the edge of the desk with one ankle crossed over the other, all the careful walls Taehyung had built around himself since morning simply gave out.

Yoongi looked up and that was all.

That first night, Yoongi had looked like a predator dressed in pale skin and tattoos, and Taehyung had been bruised, tired, wary, pretending he was not afraid because fear was something people like Henry knew how to smell.

Today, Yoongi looked the same. Long hair brushing his nape. Dark clothes and sharp eyes. But Taehyung was not afraid of him now. Because he knew this man had a heart bigger than his palm and a soft temperament he hid so well underneath that hard exterior.

It was now evident in the way his gaze softened when it fell on him. Taehyung's mouth trembled a little. "Hyung-nim."

Yoongi stood immediately. "Taehyung-ah."

Taehyung crossed the room in two steps and crashed into him.

Yoongi caught him without surprise, arms closing around him with a firmness that made Taehyung's knees weaken. He had not realized how badly he needed to be held by someone who did not ask him to explain first. Someone who knew enough to be angry and still chose gentleness with his hands.

"Hyung," Taehyung breathed again, and hated the way his voice cracked.

Yoongi's palm settled carefully between his shoulder blades, avoiding the places that still ached. "I know."

Taehyung laughed once, wet and broken, then pressed his face into Yoongi's neck and shook so hard he had to grip the back of Yoongi's shirt to stay upright. "I hate this," he whispered. "I hate them. I hate that I was scared again when I heard Minsung's name. I hate that they can still make me feel like I'm back there. I hate that they can still hold that contract above my head like a sword and make me do somersaults."

Yoongi's hand moved to the back of his head slowly and carefully. Possessive in a way that Taehyung decided he liked. The man was dangerous. Director Heesung had told him enough to know he must be feared.

But strangely, his arms provided a sense of security and peace his stardom failed to give.

"You're here now," he said.

Taehyung closed his eyes.

"You're here," Yoongi continued, voice low against his temple. "With me. In a room I chose. Behind doors my people control. No one enters unless I allow it."

Taehyung swallowed a sob into his throat. "That sounds almost illegal."

"It sounds safe for you."

"It sounds like you."

"Are you afraid?"

Taehyung shook his head. "I should be...but I'm not."

Yoongi huffed, and the small sound broke something open between them. Taehyung pulled back enough to look at him, wiping at his own face with an embarrassed laugh, but Yoongi caught his wrist before he could hide too much.

"Don't," Yoongi said.

Taehyung froze.

"Don't hide." Yoongi's thumb brushed under his eye. "Not from me."

The tenderness was worse than the danger he posed.

"You have nothing to fear here. I promised I'd cherish you, didn't I?" He cupped his face with one hand and he leaned into Yoongi's hand anyway. "I'm someone who will burn this world down to keep you warm."

Taehyung gave a watery laugh. "It shouldn't sound that good," he mumbled, eyes fluttering shut. "Sounds too good to be true."

"It is the only truth. I like you. I'll protect you."

Taehyung nodded and slowly opened his eyes only to see sincerity in his gaze. "I wanted to see you," he admitted. "I didn't know I'd miss you so much after just one night."

Yoongi's eyes softened by one small, devastating degree. "I know."

"You keep saying that."

"Because you keep looking surprised."

Taehyung let out another wet laugh, and this time Yoongi smiled. Just a faint curve at the corner of his mouth, but it made Taehyung's chest hurt. Someone cared and that someone was holding him now.

"Did you miss me?" Taehyung asked before he could stop himself.

Yoongi's gaze dropped to his mouth. "Yes."

There was no hesitation in his answer. Taehyung sucked in a sharp breath as his gaze dropped to Yoongi's mouth.

Then Yoongi kissed him. The kiss felt like a homecoming. It started slow, a tentative exploration of lips that had spent too long dreaming of this exact moment, but it quickly deepened into something hungrier, something that tasted of desperation and relief.

Yoongi's hand remained firmly on Taehyung's wrist to anchor him. He pulled back just an inch, his forehead resting against Taehyung's. His breath was ragged, his dark eyes searching Taehyung's face with an intensity that felt like it was peeling back every layer of defense Taehyung had ever built.

Yoongi pulled back just an inch, his forehead resting against Taehyung's. His breath was uneven, warmer than Taehyung expected, brushing over his mouth in soft bursts that made it impossible to think clearly.

"Taehyung-ah," he murmured, voice low and rough in a way that made Taehyung's stomach tighten, "tell me if this is too much."

Taehyung's heart hammered against his ribs.

That was the strange part. It was already too much. Yoongi was too much. His eyes, his hands, the quiet danger around him, the gentleness that kept slipping through it no matter how carefully he tried to hide it. The room felt too small around them, the air too warm, his own body too awake after hours of fear and forced control. But none of it felt like something he wanted to escape.

He should have been afraid.

Maybe a wiser version of himself would have been.

This was only the second time he had met Yoongi like this. The first time had started with alcohol, exhaustion, and a reckless need to feel something that belonged to him.

"It's not too much," Taehyung whispered.

Yoongi searched his face. "Are you sure about this, darling? We can wait until I can wine and dine you."

Taehyung gave a shaky laugh. "You keep asking like I'm going to run."

"You can." The answer came without hesitation. Yoongi's expression did not change much, but his hand loosened around Taehyung's wrist at once, thumb sliding away until only his fingertips remained. "I mean it," he said. "The door's there. The staff outside are mine. If you want to walk out, you walk out. I won't stop you."

Something in Taehyung's chest twisted so suddenly that he had to look away. Permission should not have felt like tenderness. It did.

Maybe because so many people had spent years asking things from him without really asking. Smile here. Stand there. Wear this. Don't talk back. Don't make trouble. Don't make this difficult. Even kindness had become something he waited to be priced later.

Yoongi had already given him a way out once.

That night, with Taehyung bruised, tired, and far too aware of the bed beneath him, Yoongi had made consent sound less like a question and more like a line he would never cross unless Taehyung placed his hand in his and stepped over it willingly.

His carefulness had stayed with him longer than the bruises on his hips. The folded clothes on the chair. The kiss he only half-remembered against his forehead before morning. The way Yoongi's men had stepped aside as if Taehyung had become someone to protect because Yoongi had touched him and decided he mattered.

That was what Taehyung did not know what to do with. The part where Yoongi looked at him now like that night had not been a mistake and he really meant every word.

Taehyung swallowed and looked back at him. "I don't want to leave." Because Yoongi's presence had already erased the sense of fear. "I don't know what this is," he admitted.

Yoongi's thumb moved once over his wrist. "Neither do I."

The confession surprised him.

Taehyung looked up.

Yoongi held his gaze, not hiding from the uncertainty. "But I know I wanted to see you again."

His heart did something foolish. "Only that?"

Yoongi's gaze dropped to his mouth again before returning to his eyes. "No."

Taehyung's fingers curled into the front of Yoongi's shirt. "I thought about you. All the time. I just didn't know when I'd see you again. And if you'd feel the same way or if it was just the heat of the moment."

"I don't say things I don't mean."

The tiny fracture in his control made Taehyung feel bolder than he had any right to be.

"That's a relief," Taehyung added, quieter.

Yoongi leaned closer, but he did not kiss him yet. His mouth hovered close enough for Taehyung to feel the warmth of his breath. "That's good."

Taehyung laughed under his breath, embarrassed and aroused and still too close to tears. "That's your answer?"

"It'd be a problem if you don't feel the way I do."

"You really are dangerous."

"I know. I've done things I'm not very proud of."

"You're supposed to deny it."

Yoongi's almost-smile returned. "I don't lie to you."

Yoongi did not soften himself into something harmless for Taehyung's comfort. He did not pretend the darkness around him was imaginary. Maybe that was why Taehyung trusted him.

Taehyung lifted his chin, meeting him halfway this time. "Then show me how much you missed me."

For a second, the room narrowed to Yoongi's hand on his wrist and the sound of Taehyung's own breathing. Then Yoongi moved.

Without breaking eye contact, Yoongi guided him backward, his movements possessive and deliberate, until the back of Taehyung's knees hit the edge of the plush, charcoal-gray velvet couch in the center of the office.

He pressed him down, following him down until they were both sinking into the soft fabric, the scent of expensive leather and Yoongi's woody cologne enveloping them.

Then he began to worship him. He started with Taehyung's face, kissing his eyelids, the bridge of his nose, and the corners of his mouth like they were long last lovers. Yoongi's hands wandered, tracing the line of Taehyung's jaw, the curve of his neck, the delicate slope of his shoulders.

"You are so precious," Yoongi whispered against his skin, his lips grazing the pulse point in Taehyung's neck. "So fucking beautiful it hurts to look at you. Do you know that? I used to wake up and wonder if you were just a fever dream."

Taehyung let out a shaky breath, his fingers curling into the fabric of Yoongi's dark shirt. "I'm here."

"You are," Yoongi affirmed, his voice dropping an octave, thick with a possessive heat. "And you're staying. I'm done letting the world touch you, Taehyung. From now on, you belong where you're safe. You belong with me."

The words should have been frightening, coming from Yoongi, but they felt like a sanctuary. Taehyung arched his back, a soft breath escaping him as Yoongi's hand slid beneath his shirt, palms warm against the pale skin of his stomach. Yoongi paused, his hand splaying across Taehyung's hip, squeezing firmly.

Yoongi began to remove Taehyung's clothes, treating each piece of fabric like an obstacle to a treasure. When Taehyung lay bare beneath him, the soft light of the office casting long shadows across his frame.

"Perfect." His gaze was heavy and adoring. "Absolutely perfect. You look like something men carved into temple walls because they didn't know how else to worship beauty."

He leaned down, his tongue tasting the hollow of Taehyung's throat, moving down to the peak of his chest. He spent an eternity there, licking and nipping, praising the softness of his skin, the way he trembled under Yoongi's touch.

"I'm going to build a life for us," Yoongi whispered, his voice filled with a rare, fragile hope. "A place where you don't have to look over your shoulder. A house with windows that let in the sun, and a garden where you can just... exist. No one to fear. No one to hide from. Just us. And maybe if you like it, we can adopt a dog or a cat."

Taehyung felt tears prick his eyes again, but this time they were warm. "You really mean that?"

"I've never meant anything more in my life," Yoongi replied, before capturing his lips in another searing kiss.

Yoongi shifted, his hand sliding down to find Taehyung's heat. He was gentle, his fingers working with a slow, methodical patience, ensuring Taehyung was ready, ensuring he felt every ounce of the care Yoongi was pouring into the act. He watched Taehyung's face—the way his eyes fluttered shut, the way his lips parted in a silent plea.

"Look at me, Taehyung," Yoongi commanded softly.

Taehyung opened his eyes, his gaze hazy with pleasure.

"I'll be gentle," Yoongi whispered.

Taehyung almost laughed because that sounded diabolical coming from a person like Yoongi. But he'd already proven he could be both. So he only pulled the older one closer and wrapped his legs around his waist.

When Yoongi finally entered him with a slow, deep slide. Taehyung gasped, his fingers digging into Yoongi's shoulders, his head falling back against the velvet cushion. He felt full, stretched, and utterly consumed by the man above him.

Yoongi groaned, burying his face in the crook of Taehyung's neck, his body shaking with the effort of maintaining his pace. He moved with a rhythmic, grounding intensity, each thrust a promise, each breath a vow. He held him, his arms wrapping around Taehyung as if he could merge their bodies into one.

"My beautiful, precious boy," Yoongi murmured, his voice strained.

Taehyung gasped, the words breaking in his throat. "Yes, I'll be yours. Now fuck me like you mean it."

The admission sent Yoongi over the edge. His movements became more frantic, his possessiveness peaking as he pinned Taehyung's wrists to the couch, locking him beneath him. He hammered into him, the sound of their bodies meeting echoing in the quiet office, a raw, honest sound that drowned out the rest of the world.

As the climax hit, it was an explosion of light and heat. Taehyung screamed softly into Yoongi's shoulder, his internal muscles clamping tight. Yoongi let out a guttural sound, a mixture of a growl and a sob, as he came inside him, his entire body rigid, pouring everything he had into the man he loved.

They collapsed together, limbs tangled, hearts racing in a synchronized rhythm. Yoongi didn't pull away. He stayed inside, holding Taehyung close, his chin resting on Taehyung's shoulder.

The silence that followed was full of the future Yoongi had promised.

"Rest for a bit," Yoongi whispered, kissing his temple. "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."

"Okay," Taehyung closed his eyes, finally feeling the weight of the world lift, replaced by the heavy, protective warmth of the only man who had ever made him feel truly safe.
