Like Minds
(Enjoy da reading :3 I promise this story is still my number 1 priority- even though I've been updating the one-shots more.)
(Umbreon's Point of View)
I can't believe that stuck up Flareon- trying to outshow me- well- I don't blame him... I am really awesome.
Our Trainer seemed rather proud of us didn't she? She hugged us both close proudly. Normally, that would make me extremely happy. But no, I didn't want her attention, and glancing over at the one who's attention I really wanted- I was struck with disappointment. Espeon was looking around boredly, not paying attention to Flareon or me at all.
Flareon broke from Eve's tight grasp, dashing over to Espeon. I cast a regretful and apologetic look at my trainer, struggling out of her arms and following my fire-type companion.
"How did I do Espeon? Where my moves good? Did you like them?" Flareon leaped in the air happily several times as he asked the Espeon over-excited questions.
Espeon backed away a bit, overwhelmed by the Flareon's enthusiasm. "Oh- yea... Your moves were pretty great." She nodded and smiled shyly. Espeon spotted me and smiled bigger. "Yours too Umbreon." She spoke nervously.
"Thanks!" Flareon smiled and hummed joyfully, skipping off towards Eve. I rolled my eyes at the joyfully little fire-type, causing Espeon to laugh.
"Come on guys, back to the cabin!" Eve scratched her Flareon's head and giggled, standing and skipping down the grass path. "Good job today guys! Come on Espeon!" She grinned.
Espeon nodded and tilted back her ears, padding gracefully after the blonde girl. I followed, mirrored by the fluffy orange Flareon. We trotted up to the path and turned towards the cabin, walking up the path. Once we had reached the house, Eve ran to the door, followed by the cheerful Flareon. Espeon sighed and slowed her pace to match up with me.
"He's really perky, isn't he?" She grumbled playfully, flicking her ear.
"Yea- only always." I smirked, chucking. "But he isn't the worst creature ever created." I mumbled, watching his fluffy tail disappear into the open door.
Espeon nodded, gently picking up the pace, suddenly perking up as if she got an idea. "Bet you I can run faster than you." She challenged, freezing and smirking at me.
"Oh, you think so?" I grinned smugly, flicking my black tail. "Let's race to the cabin then, you arrogant little fluff-ball"
"Oh your on! Ready?" Espeon lifted a paw and growled. I nodded and stood in running position. "GO!" She called, taking off suddenly. I started as soon as she hollered the command, and I dashed swiftly after her. She was ahead of me by a tail, her smaller figure allowing the Espeon to have the advantage. I smirked to myself confidently, and dashed ahead with determination.
I began to gasp for breath and slowed myself, reaching the door only a few seconds after the Espeon. "Ha!" She grinned smugly, sitting up tall and puffing her lavender chest proudly. "Looks like I'm the faster one." She turned and, nose in the air, walked inside the cabin smiling.
"Hmph." I snorted in defeat, following her with shoulders slumped in disappointment.
I watched the Espeon disappear into the living area and leap onto her sleeping place. I swiftly padded along the wood floor and into Eve's bedroom to see my trainer sitting on her bed, her nose in a book and her Television blaring. She heard my footsteps as I entered the room and she smiled at me. "Hey Umbreon! Did Espeon come in with you?" She asked cheerfully, placing her book down on her bed and hauling herself up. "I'm gonna go see how's she's doing."
I watched her happily leave the room. I leapt onto her bed, sitting up on the end of it and watching the moving figures on the bright screen. "Hey Umbreon."
I leapt into the air, startled at the sudden voice. Landing back on the mattress, I turned towards the door to see the smiling Flareon. "Oh- erm... Hey Flareon- I didn't see you come in, heh..."
Flareon nodded and leaped up beside me. "Oh- yea. I noticed." He chuckled. "Anyway, I think we should talk about what happened at training today."
I snorted and rolled my eyes. "Talk about what?" I grumbled, looked away and frowning.
"I mean- I suppose we sort of both lost our tempers- and we started competing against eachother for no reason. We're friends! We shouldn't quarrel or battle." He said sencerely,
"What are you talking about Flareon?" I grumbled, facing him.
"I just want to know if your trying to impress that Espeon...."
"No! Why would you think that?" I growled, causing Flareon to flinch. "Er, sorry..." I backed off, feeling guilty about the way I snapped.
"Well... I just thought so because- well I'm going to be honest here and tell you that you two are just like eachother." Flareon smiled slightly.
"Hmph. Just like her? Your joking."
"I tell it like I see it Umbreon, and I wouldn't be surprised if you fell for her..." He said somewhat sadly, "you both have like minds, you know?"
"No." I responded blankly. "I don't think so. I don't know what you are talking about." I lied, looking away. We are just alike, like Flareon said. "I'm not going to 'fall for Espeon'. Besides, haven't you already 'fallen' for her her?" I growled.
"What?" Flareon gasped.
"Come'on, Flareon." I frowned. "No offense pal, but your acting like a love-sick puppy and you've only known the chick for a day!"
"Well I hate to burst your bubble, Umbreon, but so have you!" Flareon growled spitefully, leaping off the bed in a huff and exiting the room rapidly. I sat, dumbfounded and shocked. A million angry thoughts raced my mind as I sat, but one loud thought shone over the others.
Have I really been acting 'in love' with that ungrateful little Espeon?
