Ulaz' last battle

After arriving at the base Ulaz was stationed at and he gave some of the paladins a tour a RoBeast found the paladin's location while Ulaz was giving them the tour of the base. The paladins thought it was Ulaz who gave their location away, but they couldn't have been more wrong; Shiro was the only one who thought the lone galra was innocent, unlike his teammates. After returning to the castle each of the paladins got to their lions as quickly as they could and formed Voltron in hopes of defeating the new RoBeast Haggar sent. After firing the first few shots the paladins thought they were able to defeat the RoBeast, although it began firing back at them with its mouth and chasing them around the explosive clusters. Voltron was losing the fight against the RoBeast and was soon getting pulled in by the tractor beam, for the first time they thought that they were going to lose the battle.

"We might not be strong enough to beat this thing!" Hunk said with a doubtful tone through the comm system, worried that he and the others wouldn't be able to stop this RoBeast in particular.

"Hang on!" Ulaz suddenly spoke through the comms after hacking into the paladins' comm system from his ship; he had an idea of how to help the universe's only defenders escape from the RoBeast, unfortunately it would mean sacrificing himself in the process.

"Ulaz?" Shrio questioned with a surprised tone, not expecting Ulaz to hack into their comm system.

"I'm going to take it down from the inside." Ulaz announced as he flew his ship full speed in the direction of the RoBeast; he had a plan, but he knew that it would cost him his life.

"Ulaz no, let us handle this!" Shiro replied urgently through the comms, not wanting the only good galra he knew to risk his life.

"Voltron is too valuable. The universe needs you." Ulaz responded as he flew his ship into the RoBeast, closing his eyes for what he thought would be the last time; he was able to detach himself from his emotions since the mission was more important than the individual, him.

The paladins watched Ulaz fly into the RoBeast and it closed its mouth once his ship was inside, sealing him within the literal belly of the beast. They couldn't believe that he would do such a thing, even Allura who still didn't trust Ulaz despite the fact that he literally sacrificed himself so they could all live and continue defending the universe. After a moment the RoBeast began flying towards them at full force before stopping and making jerking movements, as though it was glitching. No one knew what to think, everything seemed to happen so fast that day and they'd just witnessed a possible ally sacrifice himself; it was truly selfless of Ulaz even though they would never see him again, or at least that's what they thought. Ulaz saw no point of escaping and letting the paladins get killed, he gave them the information they needed which meant his job was done.

"Ulaz opened up the space pocket from inside! It's folding in on itself!" Pidge narrated through the comm system as the RoBeast made more jerky movements before shrinking a little.

All the paladins could do was watch the scene in front of them with anticipation, all of them unsure of what would happen next; it was obvious Ulaz wouldn't make it out alive, little did they know was it wasn't the end of his life. Ulaz had done it though, he'd successfully opened the space pocket from the inside so that it would fold in on itself, nearly crushing him to death in the process. He went unconscious when things became too tight and something hit him on the head, knocking the galran doctor unconscious and completely unaware about where he was sent. Then in one moment the RoBeast disappeared and an explosion appeared in its place, leaving an empty hole where the space pocket had previously been. The one thing Slav failed to mention was that the space pocket technology had the ability to send someone to another reality in the right conditions, unfortunately only the twisted genius knew that little fact.

"He did it." Hunk said in awe as the explosion lit up the area around them, his eyes wide as he stared at the empty area in front of Voltron.

"Ulaz saved us." Keith added in disbelief, unable to believe that Ulaz' plan actually worked.

"He's… Gone." Shiro spoke sadly, knowing that Ulaz wouldn't be returning to him.

Once the paladins got over the fact that Ulaz was gone they separated and flew back to the castle, no one saying a single word. Later, after returning to the castle Shiro stood near a window as he wished Ulaz hadn't of sacrificed himself, staring outside while feeling sad about his crush being gone. He wished that he had the chance to tell Ulaz he had romantic feelings for him; he loved Ulaz and now he would never see him again; it wasn't every day he had feelings for someone, unfortunately the people he fell in love with always left him some way or another. There were so many questions he still had for Ulaz, especially about his time at galra central command and what all happened to him. The others could easily tell something was bothering Shiro, so naturally Keith went to go check on him.

"Sorry we doubted Ulaz, Shiro. He saved all our lives." Keith spoke in a regretful tone, wishing that he hadn't of been so quick to misjudge the galra who snuck into the castle earlier.

"I still have so many questions." Shiro responded quietly, feeling as though he was going to cry; he was still looking out the window, not wanting Keith to see his sadness.

"Do you really think Zarkon is tracking us?" Keith inquired as the door slid open and footsteps were heard behind them, standing next to his honorary brother.

"We cannot know for sure, only Ulaz knew our whereabouts." Allura said as she walked through the door, speaking before Shiro could say anything.

"You don't really think Ulaz gave us
up, after he sacrificed himself." Shiro spoke angrily, turning his attention to Allura and glaring at her.

"Yeah, maybe Zarkon found out about this place on his own. He's probably been searching for the Blade of Marmora." Keith added in a more angry tone, hating Allura for judging Ulaz despite making him the ultimate sacrifice for them.

"It's clear the loss of Ulaz has caused you great concern, but regardless of how Zarkon located us we can not stay here any longer, it isn't safe." Allura responded dismissively, trying to reason with the red and black paladins.

"We should meet up with the rest of Ulaz' group and finish what we started." Keith suggested in a desperate tone, wanting to finish things.

"No, we're not going to the headquarters until we figure out how Zarkon found us. We can't risk losing the only allies we have in this war." Shiro firmly spoke up; Keith was known to make decisions without thinking them through and he didn't want anything else bad to happen.

Everyone thought Ulaz was dead, so they all let Shiro mourn in peace despite not knowing how much he'd loved the mysterious galran man. However, what the paladins didn't know was that when Ulaz shut the RoBeast down from the inside he was transported to another dimension; ours, as in the one where Voltron is an animated show on Netflix. Ulaz was still unconscious as he was transported to our dimension where he would have a second chance at life, completely unaware about how his life would be changed forever. When the now deactivated RoBeast arrived and fell from the sky a loud boom was heard and the ground shook a little from the sudden impact. Life was about to change for a few people, actually, but no one knew it during that moment; the paladins would go on to free the universe while Ulaz had the opportunity to live without being caught by the galra empire.

__________

It was a chilly winter night and (Y/n) was thankful that she was inside of her nice warm house with her parents, knowing how cold it was outside since it'd been cold earlier. She was currently in the living room watching one of her new favorite animated shows on Netflix, Voltron Legendary Defender. In the episode she was watching, a good galra named Ulaz was introduced; she really liked Ulaz, but when he was killed off in the show she felt kind of sad, it was the Cliffjumper incident all over again, only Ulaz hadn't been brutally murdered by a psycho Decepticon. (Y/n) was thankful that she was able to take her classes from college online, she really enjoyed her childhood home and she hadn't quite figured out what she was going to do in life. Suddenly, a loud boom was heard from outside and the ground shook a little from the impact; it definitely wasn't an earthquake, although it was highly unusual at the same time.

"What was that?" (Y/n) asked her parents with curiosity, looking at them as they watched the news on tv.

"Perhaps it was a meteor." (D/n) joked when he looked at his daughter, a humorous smile appearing on his face.

(M/n) just shrugged, unsure of what would make such a loud booming sound that caused the ground to shake since it was nighttime in the middle of winter. (Y/n) was worried that a war was being started outside or something, so she put her tablet down and walked over to the window, thankful when she didn't see anything dangerous happening outside. However, that didn't mean something dangerous wasn't somewhere else outside and possibly lurking around, she just didn't know what. She didn't know it yet, but something not from their reality had landed in a nearby field with someone who would change her life forever. Thankfully none of the pictures fell off of the walls and nothing fell off of any shelves, but the ground had shaken enough to definitely be noticeable.

"Nothing looks different. I don't know, maybe we just imagined it." (Y/n) spoke to no one in particular, promptly returning to the couch and sitting down again.

(D/n) went back to watching the news with his wife, humming in agreement as he listened to what (Y/n) said. (Y/n) had the feeling that something was different and something was going to happen, but she thought it was because she was getting a little tired and she needed to get some sleep. She decided to watch one more episode of Voltron before calling it a night, not wanting to fall asleep on the couch again while watching something. (Y/n) was still sad about Ulaz getting killed off so early in the series, he had a lot of potential, although she would still enjoy watching Voltron knowing there would be other good galra. However, little did she know that her life would soon be changed forever in a very unexpected way.
