CHAPTER 30
HAYLEY'S POV
Theo hasn't been himself for a while now.
Even though he tried to cover it up, it was obvious something was wrong. But everytime I asked him he just smiled and said it was nothing.
Due to our upcoming exams, I was tutoring him at my house.
We where currently in the living room because Vandel didn't want me alone with Theo in my room.
Though he had warmed up to him, it seemed he was suspicious.
"Theo" I called his attention but he just stared blankly into the wall.
"Theo" I tapped him lightly and he turned back to me.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing I guess I'm just a little tired" he replied.
"Want us to stop?" I asked because I wasn't sure he had heard half of the things I said since we had started.
"No, please go on" he said and I began explaining again.
I wanted us to go through as many past questions as possible but Theo just looked like he needed rest.
He always looked tired each time like he hadn't gotten enough sleep and the bags under his eyes confirmed it.
"Maybe we should just continue tomorrow" I said.
"No it's fine we can still go on" he said.
"No Theo, you go home and rest" I said beginning to clear our books on the floor.
"I don't want to go home yet" he pouted.
"You can stay here for a while then" I shrugged and he smiled a little before placing his head on my thighs and stretching out his body.
In about twenty minutes or less Theo had slept off and there was a knock on the door.
"Vandel can you please get the door,I can exactly move" I shouted for him to hear.
"Okay" he replied.
He opened the front door and smiled, I turned my head to see Aunt Kelly's lips on his.
It seemed he whispered something to her and then she pulled away and looked in my direction.
"Hey hun" she greeted and I smiled.
"Hey Aunt Kelly" I replied.
"I got some snacks and Vandel told me you like chocolate?" She said and I smiled and nodded.
I would never get tired of them spoiling me.
"Sorry Aunt Kelly could you bring it over here?" I asked.
"sure hun" she replied coming over to drop the snacks beside me and saw Theo sleeping on my thighs making her smile.
"Who is the young gentleman?" She asked with a smirk.
"He's a friend we where studying when he slept off" I said pointing to our pile of books on the side.
"Ah I see" she smiled not bothering me with anymore questions before she and Vandel fled upstairs.
I starred at the sleeping boy in my arms, he needed to go home right?.
I sighed pushing my fingers into his bouncy locks, he had such nice hair it was soft and silky and how did he get it wavy like that.
I heard the ringing of a phone, it wasn't mine.
I listened to the sound and discovered it was coming from Theo's pocket.
I reached over pulling it out before putting the phone on vibrate mode.
I considered answering the call but I didn't know how he would react about that so I placed the phone back into how pocket.
It has been about an hour and I has started feeling sleepy.
I tried pushing him up but to no avail.
I tried again managing to push him to a standing position before he slumped forward and I caught him, gently placing him on the couch before going to get a blanket.
I returned to my room falling asleep almost immediately.
....
The next day, Theo had left the house by the time I came down.
I walked over to the kitchen hoping to find Vandel but was met with Kelly instead making breakfast.
"Where Vandel?" I asked.
"He's still asleep" she gave me a small smile.
I recognised the shirt she was wearing, it was one of Vandel's many T's.
I just smiled going to grab apple juice from the fridge.
"You going to school today?" She asked and I nodded.
"Did your friend sleep over?" She asked with a knowing smile and I nodded.
I was about to leave the kitchen but decided to ask Kelly.
"Aunt Kelly can I ask you something?" I asked.
"Sure hun" she replied and I sat down on one of the stools.
"What do you do when a friend is suddenly not acting like themselves, almost like something is bothering it but they keep covering up by pretending?" I asked.
"Well you can keep asking them to find out, but if they don't reply then it means they don't want to worry you or they want to handle it on their own" she replied and I sighed.
"You think so, I was thinking they just didn't want to tell me" I replied.
"There must be a reason they don't want to tell you, but I'm sure they'll be fine in a few days; but it it persists go ahead and try to find out" she said
"Thank you Aunt Kelly" I replied.
"Bring it in" she held out her arms open for a hug.
I hesitated before going to hug her and unlike Vandel's big strong hug, this felt nice and comforting.
I felt tears prick my eyes.
"Thank you Aunt Kelly" I murmured again and she patted my head.
