Epilogue
You felt exhausted, too drained to move or even open your eyes, but you could still hear and sense the world around you. The dull pain in your side was the first sign that maybe this wasn't the afterlife.
Slowly, you summoned the strength to open your eyes. It took a few moments for your vision to focus, but soon you recognized the familiar sight of netherbrick walls. This was one of the private medical rooms in the fortress.
Your eyes skimmed around the room, settling on the hand resting on yours. A head of long pink hair was slumped on your bed, his familiar red cape draped over his shoulders like a blanket as he slept hunched in his seat. The position looked incredibly uncomfortable, you could only imagine the ache in his muscles once he woke up.
You reached out with your other hand to stroke his head when the door suddenly opened, freezing you in place.
"Y/N!" The sudden shrill voice made you flinch back as small arms wrapped around you, embracing you tightly.
"Careful Tyche," Phil warned gently from behind her, "Their side still hasn't healed yet."
The noise caused Techno to stir, raising his head from the bed tiredly. Once it dawned on him that you were conscious, he immediately stood from his chair, placing the back of his hand on your forehead as if he was checking your temperature.
You couldn't help but smile at the scene, embracing Tyche back as Techno rested his hand on your head.
"How's the pain?" Techno asked, his expression one of worry.
"It's not bad," You reassured him, "But... how did I get here? The last thing I remember is falling and trying to swim to the surface."
The room fell silent for a few moments before Tyche pulled back from your embrace, smiling widely at you.
"I'm fire resistant!"
You stared at her, dumbfounded. Techno shot Tyche a stern look, his posture tense.
"Tyche, you're still grounded. You could've died."
"D-Died? What's going on?" Anxiety surged through you as you took Tyche's face into your hands, scanning her for any signs of injury.
Phil exchanged a glance with Techno, signaling for him to explain. Techno sighed heavily, rubbing his forehead in an attempt to alleviate some of the tension.
"After you fell, Tyche jumped in after you. I jumped in too after dealing with that Gresham kid."
"Are you fire resistant too?" You asked out of curiosity after the shock wore off.
"No, I had a potion," Techno replied, shooting another disapproving look at Tyche, who merely shrugged.
"But we were all the way down a cliff. How did you carry me back?"
Techno hesitated, the silence in the room growing more uncomfortable by the second.
Sensing his reluctance, Phil stepped in. "You were losing a lot of blood, and finding a way to carry you out would have taken too much time."
You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion as everyone sat in an uneasy silence. That's when you noticed the black mass behind Phil. Usually it looked soft, covered in feathers, but now it was mostly charred, almost a skeleton of what it once was. Your hand flew to your mouth in shock.
"Phil, your wings..."
Phil offered you a gentle smile, trying to ease your worry. "It's okay, I never used them much, anyway. We're just lucky you're alive."
After BadBoyHalo checked your vitals, you shared a quiet dinner together. The atmosphere was calm, a stark contrast to the chaos that had led you there. Though you were still sore, you felt a sense of peace as you sat with Tyche, Techno, and Phil. For a while, you all talked, recounting stories that brought laughter and a much-needed sense of normalcy.
Tyche remained close by your side, her small hand never leaving yours. She chatted animatedly about her latest training techniques and the pranks that he had pulled on Tommy and Tubbo. The warmth of the family around you was comforting, and for the first time in what felt like ages, you allowed yourself to relax.
As the meal came to an end, Phil cleared the plates with a knowing smile. "You need rest," He said gently, placing a hand on your shoulder. "We'll be right outside if you need anything."
Tyche hugged you tightly. "I'll be back for breakfast, okay?"
You nodded, squeezing her hand in reassurance. "Goodnight, Tyche."
With that, Phil and Tyche left the room, their footsteps fading down the hall.
The room was suddenly quiet, the only sound the cracking of the torches that lit the room. Techno hadn't moved from his chair, his gaze fixed on his hands as if lost in thought. You took a moment to observe him, the way his posture had relaxed ever so slightly, the way the tension in his eyes seemed to have softened.
"Techno," You said softly, drawing his attention.
He turned to you, his expression unreadable. "How are you really feeling?" He asked, his voice low.
Techno's question hung in the air, and you took a moment to consider your response. The truth was, you were exhausted. But as you looked into Techno's eyes, you could see that same exhaustion, along with something else–something softer, more vulnerable.
"I'm better now," You replied quietly, "Being here, with you, with everyone..."
He nodded and for a while, you sat in comfortable silence. You found yourself watching the flames of the torches, their dance drawing you into a peaceful, almost hypnotic, state. But there was still something lingering in the air, something that felt unfinished.
Techno broke the silence first, his voice hesitant, "I've been thinking about what comes next... after all of this."
You turned your gaze to him, curious. "What do you mean?"
He took a deep breath, as if gathering his thoughts. "The war's over, and the Nether is safe–for now. But... I don't want us to just go back to the way things were."
You nodded as he continued.
"I have something for you," He said, his tone a little shy/
You perked up slightly as Techno shuffled through something beside him. He stood, revealing a long cape, similar to his own, with a trim of white fur to fight off the cold.
"I asked Phil to make this for you," Techno explained, almost bashfully, as he placed the cape on the foot of the bed.
"Techno..." You smiled, a warm feeling spreading through you, "Thank you. But... why would I need something like that in the Nether?"
"Tyche, Phil, and I are going back to the Arctic, visiting some old friends."
"And... you got me a cape too?"
"I'd like you to come with us," He said, his voice steady but soft, "Not just as a friend but as my... partner. Officially."
Your heart skipped a beat, and a genuine, warm smile spread across your face. "I'd like that," You whispered.
"Then it's settled." He said, a tint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "We'll go to the Arctic together–me, you, and Phil."
"Do you think Tyche would mind?" You asked, a touch of concern in your voice.
"Mind?" Techno looked at you curiously.
"Us being together. Officially."
Techno chuckled softly. "No, she won't mind. I already talked to her about it."

You, Techno, Tyche, and Phil stood together by the Nether portal, your bags packed with essentials for the long journey ahead to the Arctic. The trip would be long but rewarding, and this time, you weren't embarking on it alone.
As you gazed at the Nether portal, memories of what had led you to this moment flooded your mind. This very portal was where you and Tyche made your daring escape from the royal guards, where Phil had been captured, and where you first stepped into the mysterious world your father had been so fascinated by. And ultimately, it was what brought you to Techno.
As if he sensed the emotions stirring within you, Techno reached for your hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. You turned to him with a warm smile, feeling the weight of the past few months lift slightly. Despite the nerve-wracking challenges, you wouldn't have traded any of it for the world.
Before you could say anything. Techno's hand slipped from yours, replaced by a smaller, eager one. Tyche had wedged herself between the two of you, a mischievous grin on her face as she looked at her father. "They might be your partner, but they were my friend first!"
You laughed softly and Techno glanced down at his daughter, smiling as he ruffled her hair. "Fair enough," He whispered.
Phil, who had been standing quietly beside you, cleared his throat. "Everything's set for the journey. BadBoyHalo agreed to oversee things here and maintain the peace with the overworld."
You nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "And Dream?" You questioned. The masked man had visited you shortly after you woke up, wishing you a good recovery before disappearing completely.
"He decided to go back to the overworld," Techno replied, "He said it's time for him to see what's out there, beyond the Nether and the battles. He'll be fine–Dream can handle himself."
There was a quiet understanding between you all. The Nether had been a place of conflict and discovery, of loss and newfound bonds. But now, it was time to take on a new journey, one of growth and healing.
With Tyche's hand firmly gripping yours and Techno's arm protectively around both of you, the four of you stepped toward the portal. The swirling energy crackled with a promise of the unknown, of the adventures yet to come.
As you crossed the threshold, a sense of peace settled over you. Whatever lay ahead in the Arctic, you knew you would face it together–as partners, as friends, as family.
Tyche looked up at you with a wide smile, "Ready?"
"More than ever," You replied, squeezing her hand gently.
With that, you, Techno, and Phil stepped into the portal, leading the Nether behind and heading toward a new chapter in your lives–a chapter where the future was yours to write, side by side.

I hope this was worth the wait! Sorry it took so long for me to write this. I struggled with writers block and inspiration for a long time but I'm very happy with how it turned out and I hope you are too.
If there are any details of the story that were confusing or ends that I didn't tie (I'm sure there's something I missed, it's been a few years since the first chapter), feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer!
I hope you all have a great day/night! <3
