Katherine did not want to go to Florida. She was expecting college acceptance letters any day now and she was anxious. She didn't doubt her skills. She's always been book smart. And she believes she finally knows what to major in. She wants to be a councilor. She wanted to help people deal with their bullshit to at least make it more bearable. She knew what it was like to reach a low point.
Charlie promised to keep an eye out for her. She knows she's being a bit dramatic but something told her to stay in Forks and deep down she was felt like something was about to happen.
The ride to the airport was a long one, Katherine and Bella did not speak to each other for the duration, their was still some tension between them. So when they reached the the airport Katherine was quick to grab her duffel bag and head inside before her sister. She was grateful that they weren't seated besides each other.
The airport was packed with people making it easy to hide in plain sight. Katherine was alone in line for check in when she felt her heart rate pick up. Her hand flew to her chest as her heart thumped.
What was happening?
She had an awful feeling of dread and began to panic. Flipping her head around Katherine looked around for her Bella in the crowd, something wasn't right.
Thump Thump
Her head felt light before collapsing to the ground.
When Katherine opened her eyes she was on board the plane, only she was the only passenger. Hesitantly she got out of her seat as the planes lights flickered casting an eerie feeling to go through her like a chill.
"Hello?" She called out but was met with silence. She made her way to the front of the plane finding all of the doors shut. "Hello!" She called out again, banging on the metal door. "Can anybody hear me?"
"Why would they?" Katherine gasped spinning around looking down a dark hallway, the only light coming from downstairs but it wasn't normal. It was a party, she can faintly hear the music and teenagers laughing. Everything felt so clear yet hazy.
"Katherine." The voice echoed down the hall. It sounded like Bella.
Her eyes snapped open before clamping shut due to the brightness. A security guard and Bella were crouching down as a few people gathered around the unconscious girl. Bella helped Katherine sit up as the security guard asked her if she was okay.
"I'm fine." She grabbed Bella's outstretched hand and stood back up, pulling her bag with her.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Bella asked concerned for her sister. Katherine looked paler than usual. They stood in line together and after a long wait they got through. The intercom announcing airport departure times, went deaf to Katherine. Her eardrums were roaring mildly while the ground beneath her felt like it shook. She felt cold all over, and jittery. Looking out at the crowd she was looking for someone. Katherine couldn't get over that feeling of something was coming or something was about to happen.
Her mind went to Dylan. He was a vampire and could get to her at anytime. Despite the 'protection' from the Cullen's that didn't mean they were safe in Florida. Grant it, it was a very sunny state, it'd be harder for a vampire to get around there. But before long it was time to board the plane. Katherine walked behind Bella to get her ticket scanned before walking down the terminal. Bella got in her assigned seat as Katherine moved on to find hers.
Katherine found her seat which was by the window, this relieved her. Watching the sky from above was quite the view and maybe it would distract her enough from her anxiety to think of her next steps. She just needs to make it through the weekend before the rest of her life starts. First with the acceptance letter(s) and second, graduation. She was hoping to get accepted at New Haven Uni. She liked their psychology program and also liked that it was on the other side of the country.
It would be a dream come true.

Renee welcomed the girls with dinner. They all sat together with Phil, talking about Forks. Renee asked Bella about Edward and by then Phil left the table and Katherine soon after. She didn't want to be pulled into boy talk. Her mom didn't know and she'd prefer it that way. Besides, she thought, her mother always favored Bella more, even subtly, but she didn't care.
She told Phil she was going for a walk before heading out. The warm breeze hit her inflating her with the saltiness of the ocean water. The waves crashed in the distance as Katherine walked out with a light hoodie on. She was fiddling with the pack in her pocket. She's been waiting hours for this.
Katherine walked down to the pathway which led to the beach. Sand crunched beneath her as she walked on the sandy shore. Smoke wafted in the air as she admired the stars in the sky. Without bright lights the sky was filled, only rarely can she experience that in Forks. If she makes it to any of the schools she's applied for she'll be glad to experience better weather.
Finding a spot closer to the water, Katherine sat down and lit another cigarette. She inhaled the saltiness of the ocean which relaxed her senses. For a moment she felt calm. But that was short lived.
"It's not safe to be out by yourself."
Katherine was pinned to the sand in that instance, her feet kicking, arms trying to swat away her attacker.
"Let me go!"
"Now now Kat, no need to be rash!" Dylan pinned her down with ease a sadistic grin on his face. "Oh look at you, you're useless, but I can help with that."
