40.
Majka was pulled away to her duties for the Emperor. She had to continue on her mission, Majka was known for her efficiency and wouldn't allow anything to deviate this. If the Emperor found out she was slacking, he would know her doubts.
She walked into Captain Solo being tortured. This was the schedule made by the Emperor, Majka didn't want to pull the trigger as Solo looked away in fear of his fate. She needed to do as she was told, it was still too soon to act out.
She didn't care to ask any questions, she didn't need to know anything. Everything she could ask this man, she could ask Anakin. She has Anakin back. Underneath her mask she smiled at the thought of having Anakin. As Han's screams began to become white noise to her, she became unnerved. She hated this thing she had become, she hated that screams of torture left her completely calm when in her younger years it would've urked her to no end.
"Are you going to ask him anything?" A stormtrooper asked.
"No." Majka told. She realized how brutal she must look for torturing a prisoner for no reason. She turned to him, "Hold him for only another minute. If you do any longer I will personally put you on that table and hold you there until your final breath. Then bring him back down to the others."
"Yes, milady." The stormtrooper choked out in fear.
"Lady Majka." Lando greeted her as soon as she opened the door for her to leave.
"You may take Captain Solo to Jabba the Hutt after I have young Skywalker." Majka ignored Lando to tell Boba Fett. She knew of Leia's affections, she could tell with one look. She looked at Han the same way (Y/N) had always looked at Anakin. But she only had time to care for her family, everyone else was less important. And she had made a deal.
"He's no good to me dead." Boba commented on the screams that still rang through the hall.
"He will not be permanently damaged." Majka assured him.
"Lady Majka, what about Master Skywalker, Leia, and the Wookiee?" Lando asked.
"Leia and the Wookiee will never again leave this city." Majka began, "Master Skywalker will leave with me."
"That was never a condition of our agreement, nor was giving Han to this bounty hunter!" Lando complained, Majka stopped to turn her head to the man.
"Perhaps you feel like you're being treated unfairly?" Majka asked, her tone suggestive of the ways she could make him submissive. She learned from the best.
"No." Lando quietly repelled.
"Good." Majka said, "It would be unfortunate if I had to leave a garrison here."
She then entered an elevator to go finalize plans to set the trap for Luke. On the next level up was Leia being held. It was hardly even torture, just a little bit of electricity treatment. No where near the kind that Leia was used to when it came to the Empire. Majka knew not what others limits were, for her tolerance to pain is so far past extremities and has been built on for decades.
Anakin was waiting for her, cuffed in her quarters. Anakin stood when she entered. The pained woman made no comment, but stared at him for a few seconds. She just needed a reminder that he was real.
"What?" Anakin said, his usual sarcastic tone taking place, "No 'Honey, I'm home'?"
"I'm sorry about the cuffs. But I have a reputation and I can't change it drastically, not yet. The Emperor will notice." She told her husband.
"That's not true." Anakin shook his head, the Force telling him so, "It is true that you would be in danger to change your behavior suddenly, but that's not why I'm cuffed."
Majka made no response. Anakin always knew when she was lying. The way her body stiffened as she would.
"I'm cuffed because you don't think I'll stay with you if I'm not." Anakin said, "You need to let go of your fear, (Y/N)."
"And let you leave again? I spent 21 years thinking you were dead-" The woman defended herself.
"I didn't leave! You pushed me away!" Anakin yelled. It was the truth, "I told you I'd never leave you. And I still won't. I'm done hiding, running. I want to help you, (Y/N). I've never lied to you, The Emperor has."
"I know!" Majka yelled back, she turned off her amplifier, "I'm tired. But I've spent 21 years in a Hell I never thought would ever exist, and you know what the worst part was? Not the torture, not the things I have done, not the people I murdered but being away from you. Being told that I was the one at fault for yours and my new infants deaths and then having to live with that misery. Then even worse than that was that you were still alive, and I didn't have you when I needed you most." (Y/N) breathed deeply as if her own body was experiencing torture.
"I was scared, too. The whole galaxy is scared. They're scared and we can stop all of it. You just have to leave, this whole operation will fall apart without you and we can start over." Anakin said, "If Luke is really on his way we can stop this all."
(Y/N) knew her orders and they contradicted greatly with Anakin's pleads. He will join us, or die. The woman didn't know what to do. She just stared at the man she loved. Her eyes were normal as she looked. Anakin stared back, begging for her to understand. She was so close, so ridiculously close to coming back to him; he could feel it.
An alert came through, stormtroopers requested her presence. She had decided the best way for compliance was to carbon freeze her son to stay with her and avoid the life scanners. The machine was prepared but needed her approval. Majka went to turn off the alarm. She looked back at Anakin, her love.
"I don't want to do this." She admitted, she didn't want to do any of this.
"Then don't." Anakin said. Majka had no choice in the matter, she would need to follow the majority of her orders so she isn't imprisoned. But before she left, she made her own decision.
She unlocked the handcuffs on Anakin. No words were said but looks were exchanged. Anakin understood then: she trusted him still. She loved him still, her heart was being lit again. She was finding him.
~
Han was brought in and placed in the holding cell where Chewbacca already sat. Chewie put down the parts he was tinkering with, to go help his friend up from the ground.
"I feel terrible." Han said, pale and weak as Chewie held him up and carried him to a bed.
Leia stumbled in there after, she saw Han's frail body and kneeled next to him, stroking back his hair. "Why are they doing this?" She asked, not expecting an answer.
"Sh-She never even asked me any questions." Han said, wondering why someone would be tortured for no sure reason.
When the advocation for Majka's true character didn't come, Leia looked around the room. She noticed that Anakin wasn't back from his time with Majka.
"Where is Anakin?" Leia asked, worried. Chewie shrugged, "You mean he never came back?"
"Do you think Majka killed him?" Han interjected. Leia closed her eyes briefly, she saw an image of Anakin. He wasn't dead.
"No." Leia said, "He's alive."
Just then the door slides open, Lando and his body guards enter the room.
"Get out of here, Lando!" Han says, furious.
"Just shut up and listen." Lando stopped them, "Majka has agreed to turn Leia and Chewie over to me."
"Over to you?" Han looked at his old friend, almost offended that he used wording that suggested his friends were just objects of a deal. Possessions they could trade.
"They'll have to stay here, but at least they'll be safe." Lando calmed Han down.
"And Master Skywalker? What about him?" Leia asked, hoping he would stay here too.
"Majka has demanded Master Skywalker leave with her." Lando confessed. Leia hung her head, Majka was making a mistake. If the Emperor finds out about Anakin being around her there's no way he'll allow it to slide.
"And Han?" Leia grabbed Han's arm, praying even more so to keep him with her.
"Majka is turning him over to the bounty hunter." Lando said, genuinely upset.
"Majka must want us all dead." She squeezed onto Han's arm, searching for comfort. Her mother was making so many mistakes, she feared for her safety.
"She doesn't want you at all. She's after someone she referred to as 'young Skywalker'? There is another one?" Lando asked for clarification.
"Luke?" Leia rose her head, her brother was being lured, "He's Anakin's son. He's our friend."
"Lady Majka has set a trap for him." Lando told.
"And we're the bait." She says, now understanding what Majka is planning.
"Yeah, well it's working because he's on his way." Lando confirmed, pressing his truths.
"Perfect." Han stood, "Looks like you fixed us all pretty good, haven't you? My friend.." he spit out the last word in disgust. Han can't help it, Lando screwed all his friends over and he wouldn't have that go unpunished. He punched Lando square in the jaw so hard Lando almost passed out.
The two guards pin Han down to the ground immediately, Chewie growls in preparation to fight back. As the guards are ready to swing on Han, Lando stops it all knowing the punch was justified.
"Stop!" He tells the guards, "I've done all I can. I'm sorry I couldn't do better, but I've got my own problems."
"Yeah, you're a real hero." Han waved him off sarcastically. Leia went to Hans aid, as Lando and his guards left the room.
"You certainly have a way with people." Leia commented. Leia and Chewie helped Han off the ground. They needed to begin working fast to get themselves, Anakin, and Luke out of this city.
