31.
The four were running so quickly. Each blast the fort suffered brought more rubble onto them. Han was in front, and got very close to almost dying as the entire hallway collapsed in front of them. Seeing the hit, Han fell onto Leia, trying to protect her from any debris. Anakin smiled at the sight; although Han had a funny way of showing it he loved his daughter.
"Transport this is Solo." Han spoke into his comlink, "I cant get the Princess and Master Skywalker to you. Let her take off, I'll get them out on the Falcon." Han picked Leia up off the floor and ran off in the other direction.
Anakin felt her. The closer they moved to the hangar the stronger the feeling got.
"The Falcon isn't ready to fly?" Anakin yelled after as he ran.
"You'd be surprised, the times I said that and she did." Han called back.
"What are we going to do if we see imperials? Do you have a plan?" Leia asked.
"Yeah, of course, sweetheart. It's called run and don't get shot." Han said, running through the door to the hangar. Anakin heard the door shut on 3PO.
"Typical." 3PO said as Anakin opened the door back up for him.
"Hurry up, golden rod, or you're going to become a permanent resident!" Han held the door open for the much slower 3PO.
"We have to work fast, she's coming." Anakin said, going to the control panel.
"We'll go as fast as we can. How's this, Chewie?" Han asked, flipping the ignition. A faulty gauge began screeching. Chewie gave a negative bark back.
"Would it help if I got out and pushed?" Leia asked Han, leaning against the panel.
"It might." Han sarcastically replied.
"Captain Solo, Captain Solo. Might I suggest that-" 3PO attempts to help, Han shoots him a death glare, "It can wait."
Han runs to the cockpit while Anakin tightens the faulty gauge. Han turns on a few switches that light up then turn off, Han hits the panel and it lights up again.
"This bucket of bolts will never get us past that blockade." Leia says.
"Like I said, this baby has a few more surprises left in her." Han said, starting the ship for take off.
Anakin looked out the window of the canon that kept the faulty gauge. Outside snow troopers were setting up their own weapons.
"We've got company!" Anakin alerted his team, starting up the guns and began firing back.
"Switch over, lets hope we don't have a burnout." Han prayed as he switched over the power. And she was ready to fly, "There she is!"
"One day, you're going to be wrong. I just hope I'm here to see it." Leia muttered.
"Sure thing, sweetheart. Punch it!" Han pointed at the last switch.
The last thing Anakin saw before they zoomed away was his wife. For a moment, he saw her eyes. They were there. He shouldn't have run away.
Unfortunately he didn't have a lot of time to contemplate it. As they were leaving the atmosphere, 4 TIE fighters and a Star Destroyer were on their tail. Anakin did the best he could with the swaying guns to get rid of 1 of the fighters first.
"It be real nice if we could get out of here at light speed!" Anakin hollered.
"I hear ya!" Han said, pulling the lever for the hyperdrive.
"I don't see anything." Leia complained.
"Sir, I noticed earlier the hyperdrive's motivator has been damaged! Its impossible to go to lightspeed!" 3PO said. Han got up from his chair immediately.
"Keep flying the ship!" Anakin stopped Han, "I'll fix the hyperdrive. Just get them off our tails!" Han, although his problem with authority, agreed to just flying his baby.
Anakin recognized he needed the horizontal boosters, alluvial dampers, and hydrospanners. He searched for the tools quickly and put them on the edge of the pit that held the hyperdrive.
When he entered the pit and began working through the steam that clouded his vision. This ship was missing so many parts, there was no way he could finish it in time.
Suddenly the ship shook, and all the tools fell on top of Anakin.
Ow!
He complained, then the ship shook again. But it didn't feel liked something blasted them, it was like something hit them.
"What's going on?" Anakin jumped out of the pit and ran into the cockpit. Han was looking more determined than ever. Anakin looked around them, their space was clouded with rock. "Astroids?"
"Chewie, set us back to 1." Han muttered to Chewie, switching back his gears.
"What are you doing? You're not crazy enough to go into an astroid field?" Leia looked at Han.
"Well they'd be crazy to follow us, wouldn't they?" Han shrugged. Flying through space between near misses. An astroid thumps against the side and Leia winces.
"You don't have to do this to impress me..." Leia bargained.
"Sir! The possibilities of successfully navigating an astroid field is exactly 3,720 to 1!" C3PO showed his distaste.
"Never tell me the odds." Han responded, still with three TIE fighters on him. Anakin sighed in memory of when he was with (Y/N) as she successfully navigated them out of the Zygerrian Slave Empire. She always was one to surprise him.
Anakin couldn't deny the pull on his heart. He had to leave the room. He went back to trying to fix the hyperdrive as each bump hit the Falcon. He needed the quiet peace of mind and reminder that he could fix something.
"You said you wanted to be around when I made a mistake. This could be it, sweetheart." Anakin heard Han say in the cockpit.
"I take it back." Leia said, "We're going to get pulverized if we stay out here much longer."
"Not going to argue with that." Han admits. Anakin runs back in, he remembered how (Y/N) got them out of the last astroid belt.
"Get closer to one of those big ones." Anakin told him.
"Closer?" Leia protested the idea.
"And they said I was crazy." Han started, Chewie barked a horrible noise.
"Trust me, you have to find an area and you can attach yourself to it. The big ones wont get destroyed like the little ones do." Anakin told him.
"How do you know something like that will work?" Leia asked.
"My wife did it." Anakin said. No one said anything back.

In her meditation chamber, Majka screamed so loud. They got away again. The mask was stripped off her to allow her face to relax for once. She grabbed her mask, she wanted nothing more than to crush it in her hands. Without her mask she was vulnerable, she didn't look as scary as she wanted to be without it. Without it, it was revealed how tortured her body was.
She hated all of this. She wanted to change things. She hated these black and white life that she was stuck in. She wanted to sacrifice anything to have her family back.
Admiral Piett requested to see her. The meditation chamber began to open and the metal droid arm that held her mask came back to her face, clasping onto her neck. Sometimes she felt as though the mask was like a cap on her voice.
"Yes, Admiral." Majka turned around to look at him, ignoring the fact that he had just seen her true side profile, and the scars that exist on her neck.
"Our ships have sighted the Millennium Falcon, my Lady. But it has entered an astroid field. And we cannot risk a-" he started, but Majka would risk anything.
"Astroids do not concern me, Admiral. I want that ship, not excuses." Majka told him, making sure her eyes proved her sincerity. She had navigated through an astroid field before it didn't matter to her, if need be she'd fly the ship. This entire fleet can go down, she didn't care as long as she got her family.
"Yes, my lady."
