17.
Troopers began pouring in. They had found them, what better place to find rebels than in the detention level.
"Get behind me! Get behind me!" Han yelled at his furry friend, the same way he had when he saved Chewbacca from Imperial slavery all those years ago. Again they were able to scuttle away as the Troopers sloppily tried to fit through their hole in the wall.
"Watch the left! They went down the cell hall!" One of the Troopers alerted, as he ushered his friends in the block.
Han and Chewie were able to meet up with Luke, Leia, and Anakin midway down the hall.
"We won't be able to go that way." Han told them, hoping they found another exit.
"Looks like you cut off our only escape route." Leia's disappointment came out as frustration.
"Maybe you'd like it better in your cell, your highness." Han barked back at her ungrateful comment that they put their necks on the line for her. If they hadn't been shot at, Leia would've ripped his head off for saying that label the way he did.
Luke grabbed Leia and pressed her to the wall behind a pillar, joining her in hiding. Han and Chewie followed suit. As for Anakin, he stayed in the middle of fire, feeling the force around him he felt where the blasts would come from and shoot when he could. He'd miss a lot of course, he was being shot at and steam covered his vision and hadn't used a blaster in years. Han was also shooting rapidly & not precisely. But if the Troopers hadn't been on the opposite side, they'd have admired Anakin's skill.
"C-3PO! 3PO, are there any other ways out of the cell hall? We've been cut off!" Luke tried his best to make contact with the droid over the loud blasts, eventually he heard a mumble, "What was that? I didn't copy!"
"I said: All systems have been alerted to your presence, sir. The main entrance seems to be the only way out. All other information on your level is restricted." 3PO reported.
"There's no way out." Luke told his friends.
"We can't hold them off forever!" Han yelled, "Now what?"
"This is some rescue!" Leia criticized their foolish acts, "You came in here and didn't have a plan for getting out?"
"Ease the brains, sweetheart!" Han rolled his eyes at her. Anakin wanted to kill him when he said that to his daughter, who began reminding him so much of her parents.
Leia felt determined then, she would prove her own in these sacks of jelly. She grabbed Luke's blaster and shot at the vent between Chewie and Han.
"What the hell are you doing?" Han saw the steam coming from the vent.
"Somebody has to save our skins." Leia walked across the hall, shooting as she went into the vent, "Into the garbage shoot, fly boy!" She tossed Luke his weapon then fell down the shoot.
Anakin smiled at her cunning wit. Just like her parents.
"Get in there!" Han pushed Chewie in, "Wonderful girl, either I'm gunna kill her or I'm beginning to like her!"
"You'll do neither!" Anakin's paternal instinct kicked in.
They didn't have time to argue. Chewie went next, then Luke, then Han, then Anakin. Each of them fell into the shoot and down into a room with disgusting, slimy water up to their knees. The smell must've been toxic it was horrible.
"Oh yes, Princess, the garbage shoot! What a wonderful idea. What an incredible smell you've discovered!" Han condescendingly stared at her as he plugged his nose.
"Hey, if it weren't for her you'd be blaster practice by now." Anakin stopped him.
They failed almost every escape tactic. The Wookie couldn't open the door and Han certainly couldn't shoot the door open, they learned the hard way.
"Would you stop that! I tried it, it's magnetically sealed!" Luke complained.
"Well there has to be some way out of this place.." Leia optimistically looked around the dark shoot. She started scattering around garbage and trying to climb up to get out of the sluggish water, "It could be worse."
"Oh no, your highness. This is worse, I had everything under control until you stuck s down here!" Han complained, pushing through the waste.
"Really? You had it under control? I'm sorry I couldn't tell by the way all those troopers were shooting at us and you had no escape plan! You should be-" Leia was cut off by the growl of a beast.
"It just got worse." Luke muttered. Anakin felt it to. It was the slight slimy lingering around his ankles.
The five began turning in the shoot, ready to fight off whatever they must.
"Something just went past my leg." Anakin told. He could feel the dark energy radiating off it.
"Do you see that?" Luke pointed down at a tentacle he saw in the water.
"See what?" Han asked, obviously stressed.
Luke felt a suction on his right leg. It pulled him down at the knee. The others cried after him. Han began splashing down at the water, trying to find him. Anakin also panicked; that was was his son.
"Luke!" Anakin called after his son, "Luke!" He tried to feel his presence but the magnetic field of these walls must be throwing off his force yielding power. He couldn't locate him but he could feel him, he was alive for now.
Luke's face popped up in front of Anakin's legs. He crouched down to see his son wrapped with a tentacle around his neck, chocking him.
"Where is it, kid?" Han asked, pointing his blaster in the water. Luke was stuttering and trying to grasp his breath.
It had been a long time since Anakin had to save anyone. He found it extremely hard to focus on any particular thing, it used to be so easy for him. During the war it was an easy snap of a finger. He's stronger now, but only in the quiet, like how he studied in the deserts of Tattooine for so long.
He focused hard on the tentacles, on the walls around him feeling every particle of them. Breathing in, he felt the hold on his finger tips. He used the force to pull on their tight grip they had on his son.
Luke collapsed onto his hands and knees in in the water, he grabbed his throat feeling it loosen again.
"Where'd it go?" Leia asked, scared to step in the wrong area.
"I don't know! It just let go of me and disappeared.." Luke explained.
"Well it's going to come back if we don't find a way out of here." Han suggested, putting his gun down.
Then a loud, retched noise came through. Booming across the room and echoing the sound of wheels turning.
"The walls are moving." Anakin muttered. Looking back at his children and companion. Hairs stood up on his neck. It was her, she could see him. She knew where he was.
Don't do this (Y/N), if you feel me. Don't do this, we're your family.
From above in a control tower, Majka looked at him. She heard his voice. She had confirmation of his existence. Her heart was beating so loud and fast she thought surely her monitor must explode.
In her head she called back to him: Its too late to save me. I don't have a family.
She couldn't look as the employee pushed the button. The walls began to concave, it would crush them. And she could be liberated from the light again. She could become powerful enough to over throw the Emperor. Take back her freedom.
She was too late to save. The part of her that was still (Y/N) was screaming to give them mercy; to go with them but her logical brain knew she was trapped. Majka wished Anakin could see that. His optimism is wasted. She had no where to go, although the admired his efforts. She would always admire him.
