Chapter 1
Run. That was all she can do. Keep running, ignoring the burning the pain from her legs due to all the cuts and blood it sacrificed. No, she had to keep running. It was the only thing she could do.
Run.
She didn't even know why she was running. Well, that's a lie because she knew. Something was chasing her, it was following her and if it caught up, then it's game over.
Run.
But soon, gravity decided to go against her, and she was sent tumbling to the floor. She gasped as she felt friction burn from the carpet below her. She barely had time to get back because soon, footsteps resounded behind her. Her breath quickened as she stumbled again and was sent off sprinting. She didn't who was chasing her, why it was chasing her, or where to go, but she kept running.
"I told you not to run... "
She never felt so much adrenaline in her blood like now and oh, how she wanted to wish it away. But she can't. All she could do....was let a scream as she felt a hand grasped her shoulder and drag her back fast enough, to stab her right where her heart was.

Riley gasped as she flew her blanket covers off of her and onto the part of the bed unoccupied. She took a glance around her room, sighing when she noticed that it was the same as the night before. She gathered herself as she took deep soothing breaths, reminding herself that it was only a nightmare.
But nightmares like those don't scare her that often. Not unless they feel as realistic as what she had dreamt. Riley groaned, falling her back to her two big white pillows. Her long, black tresses flowing all over the bed as she stared wistfully at her dark purple ceiling. Her brown eyes looked at it lazily as she wondered.
She wondered where did she start getting these dreams, who was in her dream, what was her dream about, and WHY did she start having them?
She didn't need to know when, no, she knew when they started happening. It all happened after she turned 10. Her parents got in a bad fight with each other and her brother had been ignoring her after they fought. It's been 5 years since then, but she hasn't seen her parents around the house anymore, and her brother went off to college without her knowing. It hurts inside, you know, to go eat in the dinner table alone after finding notes saying "Your dad and I are working the night shift. There's food prepared for you. Love, your mother. "
Worse is that, she can never notice when her mom or dad comes and goes. She tried sneaking around the kitchen or the front door on times when she thinks they're there, but it's no use, for one glimpse away, and another note with a plate of food is placed before her.
Riley sighed, sitting up again. She didn't realize she had spent an hour in the same position on her bed and simply rolled out of her comforter. Her pale feet touched the cold floor sending a light shock to her body, but she willed off her shudder, instead opting to walk slowly to her bathroom to wake her body up.
After taking care of her hygiene, Riley grunted when she tried brushing her long hair. It was painful from all the tangles, and a couple of strands even fell off, due to how hard she pulled the brush, which was fine by her, seeing it as less hair problems. She grabbed the clothes she needed and changed into them, relieved that they still sort of fit on her even though she hasn't bought new clothes for five years.
The young girl then exit out of her bedroom and walked down the hall. The place was well kept, proving someone does clean around since Riley doesn't know where the supplies aren't kept. She walked into the living room and blinked when she noticed something on the couch.
'When did Celadon lay on the couch? ' she thought, picking up the small doll from it's area on the couch.
'I thought I placed you in bed with me last night. '
This isn't the first time it's happened. Many times, she finds her doll in places she don't remember placing her in. From the kitchen, to the bathroom, to her parents room, she doesn't remember when she put her there but she'll always be somewhere.
"Dolls shouldn't move, you know," Riley muttered to herself more than she did to Celadon.
Of course, the doll didn't respond, only stared blankly with the same expression the human girl has seen for five years.
She held the porcelain doll close to her chest as she headed to the kitchen, where, to no surprise, there was a plate of omelette with some bacon, and a note. Riley sighed and placed Celadon in one of the dining chairs, before grabbing the note.
Dear Riley,
I'm sorry but I had to leave early and your father didn't return from work yet. But I prepared breakfast for you and cleaned around, so please eat.
Love, your mother
P.s. There are napkins in the bathroom for you
Her chocolate brown eyes scanned the note twice, before sighing again. She placed the note down again and sat in the chair, grabbing the plate. She ate her omelette slowly, staring at the rays of sunlight going through her window in the kitchen. It's always the same routine after all. Just get up, eat, shower, play with her dolls if she was really bored, read, get in pajamas, then go back to sleep. She couldn't go to school, there was no one to drop her there. She could've been a freshman in high school by now! But no, she can't go there, and her mother wrote that she didn't want her to walk there, for it was too far and many people could attack her.
She was stuck in her own house.
No one to talk (her dolls don't count).
Nothing to do
Nowhere to go
Riley placed her plate in the sink after she had finished eating, before heading back to the living room.
'Mom said dad wasn't home yet,' she thought. 'Maybe I should wait for him.... '
Wait for daddy?
*"I will wait for him"
"No, he won't show up... "
She took a seat at the couch and stared at an old grandfather clock nearby.
The clock was soothing with its ticks, making the house less silent and feel less lonely. It was so relaxing and calming, resting feels nice.
