New Friends

"Adaaaaaa!!!!!!" Legolas yelled while running down the hallway connecting his and his father's rooms. He jumped on the bed inciting a grunt from the lump under the covers. Legolas pulled the blanket off of Thranduill's head. "Ada. They're coming today right?"

Thranduill moaned then slowly opened his eyes and looked at his bouncing ball of energy. "Yes, my little greenleaf, they are coming today." then he sighed a long rejected sigh.

"Whoopee!!" Legolas jumped up off the bed and spun in the air. "Come onnnn ada!"

Thranduill grunted. Oh the joys of parenting. He dragged himself out of bed and took his son's hand. "Come Legolas, you must get dressed." A few minutes later a dressed king and prince of Greenwood the Great walked down the hall to the dining room.

"Good Morning, my king" a raven-haired elf said, rising from the table.

"And you, Lord Berenor." Thranduill replied, nodding respectfully.

"Hi Berry!" Legolas chirped and ran to his seat at the table. Breakfast was served and the adults talked of the coming guests.

"Yes, I do hope Lord Elrond brought those maps. Lilithen wants to study them very much."

"Yes, Lilithen is a good scholar. She will soon surpass her teacher!" Berenor said a bit ruefully.

"What!?" Thranduill said in mock surprise, "No one could ever surpass the great Lord Berenor, chief advisor to the King himself!" The two friends laughed, and Legolas smirked into his bowl.

Thranduill sobered then said. "But I hope we come to an agreement on the healers in training at Imladris."

"Lord Elrond is a reasonable elf, he'll be fair."

Thranduill nodded then smiled wryly. "The problem is not him, but his children! Elladan and Elrohir have quite the reputation in Imladris for ones so young."

"Ah, yes I have heard all about the 'Twin Terrors of Imladris' at meetings and such."

At this legolas perked up and began to listen more closely. Perhaps these were the new elflings coming to visit. Legolas hoped so, they sounded fun!

Thranduill leaned over the table towards his advisor, Lord Berenor did the same. "I just hope they don't rub off on Legolas. I don't need that kind of influence on him before he is even 30!" He paused to think for a moment. "Or after he's 30 for that matter."

Just then the horns blew for the gates to open, announcing the visitors from Imladris.

"Well, no matter now. They're here."

Legolas leapt up from his chair, grabbed his ada's hand, and dragged him out the door towards the courtyard.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

In the hallway, the king caught his son's hand and told him to behave himself like a good little prince should. Then they walked calmly out to the courtyard. Legolas' eyes widened when he saw the beautiful party from Imladris. There were great, strong horses and embroidered saddlebags and such. Then he saw them, the royal family. Lord Elrond sat tall and proud upon his mighty steed. Flanking him, on either side, was a little grey pony each with a brown-haired, mischievous elfling atop it. legolas' breath caught. They looked exactly the same! Then he frowned at himself, he knew that of course! they were twins! There were about 15 elves total and as they dismounted Thranduill went out to meet them.

"Mae govannen, mellon-nin." the king said bowing slightly.

"Mae govannen, King Thranduill. Its been too long." the two elves embraced and smiled.

"This is my son, Legolas." the little prince peeked out from his ada's robes then, remembering his manners, bowed to Elrond and welcomed him to Greenwood. Elrond smiled at him a warm smile and Legolas decided he liked him.

"And these are my sons, Elladan," He grabbed the hand of one of the twins and pulled him away from a dandelion on the floor. Elladan looked up annoyed at his father. After a pointed look from Elrond he looked towards Thranduill and bowed. "and this is Elrohir." He looked around for the other elfling and gasped a little. Elrohir was reaching for a silver tassel on the saddlebag of a horse, and was about to fall into the water trough that had been placed there for the delegation's horses. Lord Elrond moved quickly and grabbed Elrohir before he could fall. Then he picked him up and carried him to where Thranduil and Legolas were waiting. Elladan had already wandered off somewhere. "This is Elrohir." Elrond said a little out of breath.

Thranduill gave him a sympathetic smile, then turned to his son. "You may go now Legolas. Why don't you show Elladan and Elrohir around?" Legolas nodded then disappeared into the palace.

"I'm sorry, mellon-nin Celebrain, as you know, has sailed and I don't know how to control them! They really were much better with their mother."

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Legolas wandered around for awhile until he found the twins sprawled out in one of the gardens.

"Oh ummm hi!" Legolas said a little uneasily.

The twins turned simultaneously and looked at the little prince. "Hi." they said in unison.

Legolas smiled nervously.

Elladan grinned. "It's alright-"

Elrohir finished the sentence, "We don't bite!"

Legolas smiled a real smile. "Well neither do I! You wanna have a look around? I could show you the sights and such!"

The twins smiled and agreed. Then the three newfound friends walked off laughing.
