Silverpaw saw something. Her eyes moved away from treepaw as she glanced at the entrance. Something was there. A dark shadow was there, with glowing white eyes and mouth and dark red wings. Silverpaw blinked in surprise but when she opened them again, the creature was gone. Somehow, the shadow reminded her of her sister, midnight. But how? Midnight would never be that dark and crazy, or have wings! But she couldn't get the distant memory of her sister out of her head. She scratched her collar in sadness. That life was the past.
