Chapter Sixty-Two

Everyone sat around the long table, chowing down at their food. A quick glance was shared between Clint and I, considering the last time we ate Chinese food it mostly ended up everywhere except our mouths.

The look didn't last for long, though, because those memories came with a third person who wasn't here.

It was Rocket's turn to talk to us about the Power Stone, so he paced down the middle of the table to do so. "Quill said he stole the Power Stone from Morag."

"Is that a person?" Bruce asked, mouth full of Ben and Jerry's. Like, two human-sized bites of food. I still had a hard time processing everything.

Rocket walked over to Bruce and said, "No, Morag's a planet. Quill was a person."

Scott, who sat next to Bruce, jumped in. "Like- like a planet? In outer space?" he asked. Up until today, things had been pretty terrestrial for Scott. Rey had to chuckle at the thought of how he was processing all of this information.

"Oh, look. It's like a little puppy, all happy and everything. Do you want go to space? Do you wanna see space, puppy? I'll take you to space!" Rocket was hilarious, and I couldn't wait long before laughing.

Unlike me, Scott wasn't very please. "Oh come on, I'm allowed to be impressed and excited!" he called out. "It's not like everyone here has been to another planet."

There was a brief silence. "We, uh, actually all have... so..." I said, trying not to laugh again.

"You?! Where did you go!" Scott asked.

I shrugged. "Sakar and Asgard. Both very interesting places. Well, Asgard was. But that's beside the point."

Scott, the ever mature adult he was, picked up a noodle and flung it at me. I dodged it, but the action made me ready to throw something back.

Tony immediately stood up and stuck his hands out, yelling, "No!"

We moved on to the Soul Stone.

Everyone was gather in the room, lounged around in different places as Nebula introduce the stone to us. "Thanos found the Soul Stone on Vormir."

Nat, taking notes on the couch, asked, "What is Vormir?"

"A dominion of death at the very center of celestial existence." Everyone paused and looked up at her. "It's where Thanos murdered my sister."

"Oh..." I couldn't help but react, and I covered my mouth with my hand. No one else spoke or made noise, awkwardly trying to look away and silently move on.

"Not it," Scott whispered, and I smacked his arm for it.

Next, was the Time Stone.

"That Time Stone guy!" Nat announced.

"Doctor Strange," Bruce corrected.

Tony, Nat, and I were laying on the giant table, Bruce on the ground off to the side. We were at about our limit for research, but this wasn't some school project we could BS and push to the side.

This was the mission. The mission to save the Snapped.

"Yeah, what kind of Doctor was he?" Nat asked.

"Ear-nose-throat meets rabbit-from-hat. Or you could ask Rey, she had a run-in with him at the hospital," Tony said.

I shifted a bit on the table. "Yeah, no. I'm pretty sure he was a neurosurgeon cause that's why I first met him. To try and mess with my head. It ended with me running from the FBI so that's probably why I don't know for sure."

"Well, makes sense then, he's got a nice place in the Village." We all decided to move on from my comment.

"Yeah, on Sullivan Street?"

"Mm, no, Bleecker," I answered.

"Wait, he lived in New York?" Nat asked. I did my best to look over at her and see what she was thinking.

Tony made some comment, but we all ignored it. "Uh, yeah, on Bleecker and Sullivan."

"Guys. If you pick the right year, there are three stones in New York," Nat said.

No one moved for a second, too stunned to realize how amazingly everything was laid out. Time, Space, and Mind all in one spot.

We all sat up, except for Nat, and Bruce said, "Shut the front door."

I was kind of confused on what year she was thinking. "What time? When were all three together?"

"2012. The Battle of New York. The Time Stone was already in New York, plus Loki's staff and the Tesseract. It's almost too perfect," Bruce said.

"Just means we need enough people to go there. One person per stone. One for backup. It's genius," Nat said.

Tony sat up all the way, joining in on the thinking. "Yeah, and we just need a couple people maybe for Asgard and a few for Morag and Vormir. I think we're ready to assemble some teams."

"Well then let's get thinking. Thor's the best candidate for Asgard, but he's definitely not okay to go alone," Nat said.

I looked to Bruce. "I'd volunteer you first, but you're rather noticeable. How about Rocket? Thor knows him well enough, they might be okay together. Plus, Rocket will help keep Thor on task."

Tony nodded as Nat wrote everything down. "Okay, so then going along that we should have Nebula go to space, either Vormir or Morag. Whichever she knows better."

"Clint and I can go, too with one last person to round out our team. We can talk with them about specifics," Nat offered, already writing things down.

"So that leaves the rest of us for New York, which is perfect because they won't recognize you," Bruce said, gesturing at me.

"Not necessarily," I countered. "The Avengers and SHIELD agents might not recognize me, but Pierce and other high-up Hydra operatives will. I mean, if we're talking about dropping during the battle or right after, they're all gonna be there. I'll get noticed right away and Pierce will panic and try to use the trigger words. I'd have to hide my face."

Tony nodded. "We could do that. Come on, we need to get the others."

And we did. It wasn't hard to find them all and tell them what we figured out. We also shared our preliminary thoughts on teams and they were met with nods. So then it was up to each team to come up with a plan.

Tony, Steve, Scott, Bruce, and I were sitting around trying to figure things out. "We have three stones. Time, Space, and Mind. Two are in the tower and one is miles away. How do we all accomplish this?"

Bruce shook his head. "It'll be heard for me, might be best if I go get the Time Stone, just so there's no way of me and the other Hulk crossing paths, you know?" he offered. It wasn't hard for the others to agree.

"Okay, so then it's up to us three to get the other two. Tony, Cap, what do you remember about after the battle? After you got Loki?" I asked, moving my attention to them.

Steve was thinking hard. "We got STRIKE to come up. They were the ones to take the scepter- probably how it ended up in Hydra's hands in the first place."

"The cube went with us," Tony butted in. "Thor needed to keep it in his possession so he could use it to bring Loki back to Asgard. We took it to Shawarma."

That caused me to stop. "Wait, what the hell is Shawarma and why did you go there not only with an Infinity Stone but with an angry god who just tried taking over the world?" I asked.

Scott shrugged. "I don't know, Shawarma's pretty good. Plus you get hungry after you fight people. Or you want citrus."

I gave him a confused look. "Doesn't matter," Steve said, bringing us back to the point. "What matters is we need to get those items before they leave the tower. Otherwise, we go on a wild goose chase and risk getting figured out."

We all thought. "Do you remember the exact path either thing took? So we know where we can intercept it?" I asked.

There was another second of silence as people thought. "Well, the Tesseract came with us down my private elevator. If we can find a way to get it out of my hands either right before or right after that, we'll be golden," Tony said.

I nodded at Scott. "What about Tiny here? Can he do something with the case to get it to you?"

The two nodded and Steve spoke up. "STRIKE took the scepter to a different elevator. If I join them, I can get it from them and meet you guys at the rendezvous point," he planned.

"Great, now we just figure out the details. But, I think we're ready for a time heist."
