Chapter [9]
I woke up to the sound of more growling. I shifted a bit in my sleep but couldn't because I felt an arm that was tightly wrapped around me. It was Sunny. Of course. I smiled down at him and focused on his face. He still looked precious and handsome. I took a glance at his arm. It still looked clean and well. Then I looked out the cave and saw that the crocodile wasn't there. It probably thought we were dead while we were sleeping. I moved Sunny's arm away and got up to get ready.
As I got ready, Sunny started to mumble in his sleep. He was shifting, tossing and turning. I could tell he was having a nightmare since it looks like he was trying to run away (his legs were moving and dancing a lot.)
I nudged his shoulder and whispered, "Hey. Sunny. Wake up, you bozo." I smiled at the sight of him. He groaned lowly and rubbed his eyes and asked, "What year is it?"
"The year you finally get up and get a calendar," I chuckled at my own joke.
"I can live with that," he shrugged and chuckled as well. He sat up from his sleeping bag. "Alright, just wait a minute."
I gave a happy smirk and crept outside of the cave. No crocodile in sight. Must be looking for other prey. "Alright Sunny, the coast is clear."
I turned around and saw that Sunny was fully colorful again. I smiled at the sight. It's like two trolls I've fallen in love with.
"Alright Captain Beatrice, I'm ready," He said. I nodded as we packed our things. We peeked out the cave opening again, and the crocodile was still not here.
We slowly crept out, making no sounds or noises. I kept an eye on Sunny too. I kept turning my head forward and back to Sunny. Only when he's not looking, obviously. Sometimes I even wonder if he looks out for me too. Probably not. Stop. But I can handle myself anyway. I'm not weak.
I saw tracks of paw marks on the ground. But they didn't seem to be... as huge as the crocodile's. Maybe there was a little critter just walking around?
"Beatrice?"
"Yeah?"
"You're not gonna tell the others about... you-know-what right?" He asked.
"I'm not gonna tell them, if we find them at all. But still, my lips are sealed. Trust me, okay?"
"Okay." He said.
"Okay." I replied.
"Ohhh-kay!" He said while grinning widely. He chuckled and mumbled, "I like this."
I couldn't stop hiding my smile, "Me too."
"Anyway... about that blue hair..."
Oh god, oh god. How could I forget?!
"Oh uh yeah," I said quietly. Gosh, it's like that trolls situation all over again. "Once we get back home, I'll dig up my microscope and study the strand of hair in no time." I grinned nervously at him. He shrugged and chuckled softly before saying, "It's alright. I could wait. I mean, you're the one who was excited to see it the first time; first time seeing actually colored troll hair."
I sighed, "Sunny, we both know you were the first colored troll for me to see," he cracked a smile but then it faded away almost instantly.
"It's not my actual hair, though." He looked away from me. I regretted saying that, now. I didn't mean to hurt his feelings. But now that I think of it, Sunny was the ACTUAL troll who I've actually seen be HAPPY. All his past smiles were so bright and real, it's hard to resist to smile back. (Well, except for the other grey trolls who we're still finding...)
"Sunny I—,"
"Beatrice!" A yell came from behind me. An oddly familiar yell I know all too well... I sighed and turned around to see the fluffy and weird cloud with arms and legs. Cloud Guy.
"What's up, good looking?" He wrapped his arm around my waist which I pushed away. I never liked his company. He would always be so flirty and funny-talking. I could by the corner of my eye that Sunny doesn't like him either.
"Who are you?" Sunny asked, inching forward and almost getting between me and Cloud Guy. Wait a minute...
"Name's Cloud Guy. Nice to meet you," he gave a toothy grin at Sunny and held out his hand. Sunny squinted for a second and reaches for his hand to shake it, but Cloud Guy pulled his arm away. "Ha! Too slow!"
"Too slow?" Sunny raised an eyebrow. Flame started to grow in his eyes and his aura was worsening. He turned to me and pointed to the cloud and said, "You know this guy?"
"Mhm," I nodded with my arms crossed against my chest.
"Okay, first of all," Sunny said, taking a step towards Cloud Guy as he took a step back. "Why are you here?" Sunny asked.
"I heard you two have been talking about lost trolls? And I also heard that something is going on between you two," Cloud Guy replied as me and Sunny looked slightly away from each other. My cheeks were slightly burning, and from the corner of my eye, his cheeks were turning... red?
"Nothing's going on between us," I stated which was pretty much a lie. Cloud Guy didn't seem surprised. I looked straight into his eyes to get my words into his non-existent brain. "We're just friends, got that?" I said.
"Got it," he smiled innocently.
"Good," I crossed my arms and glanced at Sunny who seems distracted. I sighed and turned to Cloud Guy again. "So are you going to help us or not?"
"On one condition," he smirked. I rolled my eyes and let him continue.
"I get to hold Beatrice's hand all day,"
"What?!" Sunny and I both yelled and I glanced at my hand before slowly taking it further away from him. Eeeeeewwweweee. "No, no, no. I am not holding your hand."
"Why not?" He asked.
"It's like kissing someone except it's hand-contact!" I said, "Besides, I don't want to get any cloud germs or whatever you have on you."
"Well, I guess I'm leaving then." He frowned which was obviously fake, and walked away. Sunny felt glad that he left, but Cloud Guy is actually a smart guy when it comes to these things.
Well rest in piece, left hand.
