Chapter [3]

One thing nobody knew about me was for the fact that I like Sunny. No, I love him. Another thing that nobody knows about me is how much I hide my feelings. I rarely smile, laugh, or cry. It's because there's no use for me to show my feelings if no one will react to them. Except Sunny who always wants to see me smile.

I looked at the clock. 12:37 pm. I always slept late because of how my thoughts always stop me. Or how—

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Or how sounds always stops my thoughts. I sighed and got up from my wooden pallet. I assume it's Sunny at the fake door I installed for unintelligent trolls who can't figure out the difference between a real door and a fake door. I'm not saying Sunny is dumb, I'm only saying how he's oblivious of the differences.

I opened the door and said, "Sunny, what do you want—" then I was pushed back inside and heard the door slammed close again. I realized that a hand was over my mouth to shut me out, and so I licked it.

"Ewwww!" The troll said and pulled his hand away and wiped it over his shorts. It was Sunny. He gave me a disgusted look, a bit of an offended one too. I crossed my arms, "Never put your hands on me. I'm off limits, bud."

"What? No!" He said.
"Then why are you here?"
"Just keep quiet." He said softly and looked through my telescope to outside. He bit his bottom lip and looked nervous. For the first time, I saw him looking scared.

After a while, he sighed in relief as if he was holding his breath. I tilted my head and raised my eyebrow. He looked at me. "Sorry, it's just... uhhh..."
"Cmon, Sunny. Spit it out." I said and crossed my arms. He's not usually like this. Something serious is definitely happening.

"Beatrice..." he held my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. "Don't freak out or anything when I tell you this but..."

Internally, I was freaking out. Is he trying to confess to me or dump our friendship? I had no idea. But whatever it is, it probably isn't good. I just said nothing and let the colorful guy finish his sentence.

"... all the other trolls disappeared." He said.
I snickered, "Excuse me? Nice try, Sun. But I am NOT going outside." I said.

"What?!" He said, as if he's not actually believing what I'm saying. I couldn't either. He bit on his fist. He bit on it so hard that I saw a slight cut of blood. He was actually panicking. I could tell by looking at his yellow-orange hair that was turning white. It means that the trolls are getting scared. But it turns back to normal after they calm down. Indeed, our troll hair is strange and amazing, yet it is our only self-defense. So we must keep it healthy at all time.

"T—this can't be happening..." he literally stuttered. Strange. He started pacing back and fourth while I just stood there dumbfounded. I sighed and approached him. "Calm down, Sunny. Everyone probably left off to a funeral or something."
"No," He said, looking down at his hands. "No, no, no..."

I started getting more and more worried every time he panics. He was pacing back and forth even faster to which I was annoyed at. So I grabbed him by my hair and lifted him off the ground. "Enough! Just tell me what happened."

"Okay, okay. So I was at my pod, then I heard a loud grumble. Then I looked out my window to see a huge shadow hiding behind the shadows. I saw it's dark yellow eyes and it's sharp and rotten teeth. It had a bag in its hand. So after an hour, I headed out and called everyone's name and they never replied. I think everyone disappeared with the monster!" He shivered in fear. Oh, Sunny... I put him back down calmly. He tried breathing for air while clasping onto his vest.

"Calm down, Sun. It was probably just a nightmare you had..." I was trying to find a way to calm him down. Apparently, it didn't work for such an enthusiastic troll. "No, no, I swore I pinched myself when I got up from bed." He said.

He peeked a little glance outside. "I think that monster took all the trolls!" He said while holding his head down. "Oh god, oh god, oh god..."
"Sunny, calm down won't you?" I sighed and rubbed my forehead. This isn't the Sunny I know. "Look, we'll find everyone, okay? Just... calm down. Take a deep breath and clear your mind. Everything's going to be okay."

"You're right. You're right. Everything's going to be okay." Just then, I caught him glancing at something from behind my back. He was looking at the mirror. He panicked. I turned around but he stopped me.

"No, no! Don't look." He grabbed me by the cheeks and squished them ever so gently. I felt like ignoring him and looking at the mirror to see what he was looking at. But I didn't.

"Sunny,"
"Yes?"
"Can you let go of me now?" I asked. We stayed in that position for a while. It was slightly awkward, but I cherished it. Finally, he let go.

"Oh uh, sorry," he said as he let go of my cheeks. "I'll... be right back." And then he left to my bathroom. Luckily it isn't MY personal bathroom. It's a Guest's bathroom, but it's not like I have any guests at the time. I have my own bathroom downstairs which is good.

It took a time until Sunny came out of the bathroom. It took way longer for him compared to me to get out. Sunny must have been doing something complex. And for once, it made me slightly suspicious.

"Sorry about that, Beatty." He said. Oh god, not that nickname again...

"Don't call me that." I said. "Ever."

He just replied with his dorky smile.

"Cmon, let's go find your friends—" I said but he interrupted me.
"They're not my friends." He admitted. And I could tell by the look of his eyes that he was actually serious and... sad.
