Chapter [12]
Sunny's eyes widened. His grin widened as well. I could tell by the look on his face that he wanted to hug me until I lose my breath. Honestly, I wanted to do the same with him.
Sunny came up to me, "So, that means that there are more trolls out there?"
"Yes!" I hopped off the microscope and smiled widely. Now all we have to do is find the other trolls and then— we're just gonna find the rest of the trolls before they're gone. Suddenly, just as I was about to reach for Sunny, two cages surrounded both of us, separately. I quickly looked around and held onto the bars. Oh god oh god oh god oh god it was a trap. Wait...
"Sunny? You okay?!"I looked through the bars that were surprisingly wide enough for a little troll to go through.
"I should be asking you that!" Sunny was right across from me. I reached out to grab his hand but he was too far. Sunny tried doing the same as well. I thought for a moment.
"Hold on, push your cage forwards to me! And I'll do the same!" I yelled. Sunny nodded as we both used all of our strength to move the cages towards each other. Once our cages collapsed against each other, I grabbed his hand and held it tightly. Then he grabbed my other hand and did the same. Without us knowing, we were already hugging from each other's separate cage.
We pulled away, "We'll be fine. I promise you that," Sunny said softly. A loud thump emitted from a few rooms away and the table we were on was slightly shaking. Sunny looked at me with a scared yet confident look. He looked down for a moment and reached for something in his hair. He pulled out a flower that was all too familiar. An infinite flower...
"I know you kept those flowers from years ago," Sunny smiled at me and laid the flower in my hand. I blushed darkly and held the flower. My eyes started getting watery. He looked into my eyes and gave me his toothy grin. "And I want you to keep doing it. Alright?"
"But how," my ears twitched at the sound of the thumping getting louder. "We're both Bergen meat," I sighed quietly.
"Well, not you," he used his hair to grab the top of my cage and threw it away. I'm free.. I smiled and quickly tried getting Sunny out of the cage. "Cmon, lets get you out of here—,"
"No," He said quietly.
"What?" I paused.
"You're going, not me," he remained smiling.
"Why not?" I laid my hand on top of his that was holding onto the bar.
"Because if they see both our cages set around here, they're gonna get suspicious and they'll come after us. I'll stay here and give you a head start by slowing the Bergens down," he said and gripped my hand. My eyes watered.
"That was the smartest and dumbest thing I've ever heard you say..." I said under my breath. Sunny chuckled and pushed me away gently.
"Go on, hurry. I'll be fine, I promise," he stood still in his cage. My heart ached and my head was yelling at me to run while my heart told me to stay. But I trust Sunny.
I ran away. And as I was running, Sunny whispered something that I didn't quite understand. Hopefully it was something useful because I'm not going back. Not even for Sunny...
Finally, I made it out the castle. Instead, I was surrounded by Bergens. I quickly hid behind a giant tree in the middle of the town. The tree looked old and familiar. It had no leaves, no life. The bark of its trunk looked mostly wrinkled. I looked into it and instantly recognized it. It was the Troll Tree. After all these years, it was here?
It was my dream to visit the Troll Tree and now it's just... a huge mess of bark. I sighed and looked into my hand to see the Infinite Flower. It's petals were so bright and colorful that even the stem and the leaves are beautiful. I wondered How in the world does he find these? They're incredible rare! But I have an entire garden of these in my bunker. All thanks to Sunny. I smiled and blushed at the thought of Sunny. But then replaying what just happened, I cried. I miss Sunny already. Hopefully the Bergens aren't doing something harmful to him or god please kill me.
I couldn't stop staring at the flower. It mesmerized me. It reminded me of all the time Sunny tried cheering me up with these flowers. It brought a smile to my face. And a few tears as well.
I sighed and got up. No time to be emotional. I wipes the tears from my face and looked at the flower again. I smiled and hid it in my backpack, making sure it won't get crumpled or wrinkled.
Just as I headed back to the castle to find the rest of the trolls, a storm approached. I groaned quietly and this time, I headed to the back of the castle.
I looked around for traps as well. Earlier, me and Sunny weren't so attentive to the environment also know as a BERGEN'S CASTLE.
I arrived to a giant back door and decided to climb up the window to make sure. I looked around and found a giant pot. It had troll designs on the side. It had a few holes and there seemed to be a shining light inside. I squinted to look closer and clearer. I heard a few voices, and one all too familiar.
"Someone help!"
"Hello?!"
"Everyone, calm down!"
I sighed and lifted up the window pane ever so slowly and quietly. I entered through and hopped onto the giant cart that contained the pot. I opened up the lid and looked down to see trolls...
All mixed in different colors and grey.
