Chapter 4 - Camp?
Chapter 4
“Why can’t we just spend all this money?” I asked Janet, waving the three hundred dollars I held in my hand in front of her face.
“No matter how many times you ask, my answer won’t change.” Janet replied, drily and annoyed.
“Oh C’mon, just think about all the alcohol three hundred dollars would buy us!” I tried to convince Janet.
“Alcohol,” Janet muttered distastefully and shook her head in disbelief.
“Be a sport, Janet!” I tried persuading her.
“Ivory, shut up. I get it you are bored but please stop speaking shit, it’s annoying.” Janet said, irritated.
She was right. I was bored beyond imagination. I had absolutely no Ivory-like fun since last two days and honestly it was really sad. Since the party two nights ago, I had hung out with Janet and only Janet. All we did was play Call Of Duty, help Janet’s mom in her boutique and if there was any time left we would watch TV. That’s it! Nothing interestingly crazy or fun! I was craving for something more fun. Janet never really approves of my crazy ideas but she does go crazy worrying about every worst possibility that could take place.
"Jane, I really need something interesting to do! Keeping up with the every day drama in my life is driving me crazy! I'm so fed up of constantly arguing with my parents and nor can I handle there shallow outlook to the life!" I said, truthfully after a couple of minutes.
"I understand Ivory." She replied shooting me a sad smile.
I heaved a sigh but said nothing. I looked outside the window and noticed that we had arrived at the Fashion Complex. Janet swiftly drove into the parking lot of the Fashion Complex. Fashion Complex is the place where Janet’s Mother – Lillian owns her boutique. It was a famous boutique among teenagers. The clothes Lillian kept in her boutique were unique and always in fashion. Lillian had an amazing taste when it comes to clothes, so there was nothing in her boutique that you wouldn’t like. The collection was always the best. And the clothes she sold were something my mother would never approve. They weren’t sophisticated like my mom preferred. The clothes Lillian kept were casual, something a normal teenager would like. Something I prefer and like.
I sighed. I wanted something more fun than helping Lillian in running her shop, but apparently I had nothing better to do since Janet’s going to be helping her mom and I had no other friend I could hang out with.
I mean it was a lot easier for me to make enemies than friends.
"Hey, how about you join to the camp I am going for?" Janet offered.
"Camp? What Camp?" I asked puzzled. I don't remember Janet mentioning any kind of camp to me.
"Its a camp for deliquents," Janet replied, shooting me a mischievous smile.
"Ha ha very funny Janet, "
"Yeah It was funny... anyways I'm planning to go for a camp which is about two hundred kilometers from here. It's going to have lots of activites, well mostly adventures like Rappling, scuba diving, bungee jumping. Its for two weeks." She informed.
"Firstly, why haven't I heard about this before? And when were you planning on telling me you are going to a camp for TWO WEEKS?! Once you reach there?" I asked, appalled. I narrowed my eyes at her. How could she not tell me she is going for a camp! I thought we were best friends!
"Calm Down Ivory! I just saw a pamplet two days ago. I'm not sure if I'll go. Its just an idea." Janet defended herself.
I glared at her and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Stop looking at me like that!" She said, slapping my face slightly so that I look away from her.
"I thought you were my best friend," I stated, sadly.
She chuckled.
"Enought Drama Queen! That ain't going to work on me."
"Whatever."
"So what do you think? You want to go for the camp? It would be a great get away from your family. Even if its for only two weeks."
"Yeah, you got a point there and it does sound like a fun idea! I mean alll the crazy things we could do over there! Damn. This is a good idea!" I admitted. I felt a smile form its way on my face.
Just the thought of going to a camp screams exicted and fun and it was indeed exactly what I needed right now in my life!
"So shall I book our tickets?" Janet asked, smilingly.
"Do you even have to ask that question babe?" I asked rhetorically.
With a contented smile on my face I looked out of the window, as Janet drove around the parking lot to find a suitable place to park. My eyes wondered around the almost full parking lot. Cars were parked everywhere but there was no sign of any human being around. My eyes wondered around some more until they caught the sight of a brown haired guy stepping out of a Persian Blue BMW. He looked vaguely familiar but I couldn’t connect the dots and remember where I had seen him. I was confirmed that I had seen him recently, but I just couldn’t remember where.
“Janet who is that guy near the Persian Blue BMW?” I asked pointing my forefinger at him.
Janet looked up to the see that guy and instantly all the colour of her face drained away. She stared at that guy as if she had seen a ghost. I got worried. Seeing Janet get worried and nervous after seeing someone was rare.
“Who is he?” I demanded gruffly. If he had even touched my friend, then he was about to kiss his life goodbye.
Janet stopped the car suddenly and twisted herself so that she was facing me. She took hold of both my hands and stared right into my eyes. I just looked at her baffled. Why was she suddenly acting like a weirdo?
“You are not going to do anything to him. Get that straight. He has learned his lesson, let him slide away.” She ordered, worry evident in her voice. She made absolutely no sense to me.
“What are you talking about?”
“Just follow my orders , okay?” She asked and bored her eyes into mine, asking for assurance.
“Just tell me who he is!” I demanded, getting impatient.
“Wait…what? You don’t remember him?” Janet asked, a smile slowly forming on her face.
I just shook my head in denial. I didn’t know what to say. She was acting weird and that only made me want to know more about the brown haired guy.
Janet let out a deep breath which she was apparently holding. She looked ecstatic if anything. That only aroused more questions in my mind. Something wasn’t right, I knew it. She clearly didn’t want me to face him.
“Who is he?” I asked Janet firmly.
“Oh he is no one,” Janet waved off casually and turned on the engine again.
“Janet, tell me who he was.” I demanded.
“It’s not important anymore. Just let it go okay?” She said, reassuringly as she parked the car.
I didn’t believe her. Hell I couldn’t believe it was no big deal after how she reacted at the sight of the brown haired.
Sometimes I really hate my memory. I knew I'd seen him. He looked very familiar but I couldn’t figure out who he was, where I had seen him and what drama took place when I was with him. I guess I should start eating Almonds or maybe even start meditating for improving my memory power.
“Are you going to tell me who he is?” I asked her sweetly one final time.
“Ivory, I would tell you if he were important.” She argued.
I narrowed my eyes at her. I wanted to know who he was. I wasn’t going to let this topic off so easily. And if she isn’t going to tell me the easy way, then I have my ways.
“Okay.” I replied curtly to her and stepped out of the car, banging the door close harshly as I walked away from there and stood two cars away from Janet.
Janet quickly got out of the car and asked anxiously, “Where are you going?”
“Last chance, tell who he is.” I demanded.
“He is no one you need to know.” She confirmed stubbornly crossing her arms over her chest.
Fine she can be that way. I removed a cutter from the hand-bag I always carried with me. I saw Janet’s eyes widen at the sight of it. I bent down on my knees next to the wheel of the car.
“Wh-what are you doing?” Janet asked, stuttering.
“Going to tell me who that brown haired guy was?” I asked once again. She shook her head in denial. Without wasting a moment, I drove the cutter straight into the tire, slashing it.
“What the hell?!” I heard Janet exclaim out of disbelief. “What is wrong with you? You can’t just go around slashing tire’s because I won’t tell you that he is the guy you beat up at the -” She rambled on but stopped suddenly when she realized that she is disclosing the guy's identity.
A guy whom I beat up? The most recent fight of mine was two nights ago, at the bar. That’s right! He is the Arrogant Bastard! No wonder he looked so familiar. A smile crept over my face.
“Thanks Janet,” I said smilingly and walked towards her.
She sighed in defeat and muttered, “Yeah, whatever…”
I walked past Janet, towards the Persian Blue BMW with a mischievous smile playing on my lips. I needed fun, and I had just found my new target.
"Wh-where are you going?" Janet asked, stuttering.
I turned around to face Janet, she looked at me un surely. As if she couldn't comprehend my next move. Well, I'm an unpredictable troublemaker!
"I do not like that smile on your face," She stated after she took a long look at me.
In response I rolled my eyes at her and reassured her saying, "Relax, my prank is harmless."
I didn't wait for her reply, because I knew she would never agree with any of my mischievous ideas.
Once I got near the Persian Blue BMW, I looked around once to see if there is any sign of human being around. Once I was confirmed it was a no-mans land, I kneeled down next to the front-left wheel of the car and drove my cutter through the tire. My appetite of slashing Arrogant Bastard's car tires didn't end there. I punched holes through the same tire a couple of times.
"Ivory!" Janet screeched, horrified by my actions.
"That's my name," I replied, monotonously and moved towards the back wheel on the same side. I slashed that tire too. Once I was satisfied I got up and went towards Janet, she didn't look - well happy. She is usually against most of my pranks. Apparently she is a goody two shoe and doesn't like seeing people in trouble.
"Umm...Ivory?" I heard Janet call me out hesitantly. Her eyes were trained at something beyond me.
I furrowed my eyebrows at her and asked, "What?"
"Isn't that your mom's car number?" She asked quizzically.
Confused by her question, I turned around to look at the license plate of the car. I read the number. My eyes widened in shock. It indeed was my moms car number.I looked up at the car again. My mom did own a Persian Blue BMW, it was her favorite. She never went anywhere without it. It's my moms whole life. Hell, mom doesn't even let me drive it; she doesn't let anyone drive it! What baffled me in this situation was, why did the Arrogant Bastard have my moms car? Did he know my mom? Why would mom allow a guy like Arrogant Bastard use her car? No, mom doesnt let anyone use her car. No one, not even dad.
Just then realisation hit me like tons of bricks free falling on me from a height.
"Arrogant Bastard stole my mom's car!" I exclaimed -to no one in particular.
That Asshole had the nerve to pull out such a stunt! He is going to be as good as dead now. The anger urged within me for the Arrogant Bastard even more.
"You don't know that for sure," Janet argued.
"Are you defending him?" I asked, offended by her words.
"What?! No! I'm just saying! I mean you dont even know his name!" Janet defended herself.
She was right! I didn't know that guy's name but it didn't matter or change the fact that he stole my mom's car and he is a rude and replusive guy. And he definitely isn't going to get a chance to slip away. He will be punished. And I'm going to make sure it happens.
"Don't care. I'm going to go find him, and give him what he deserves." I stated gruffly. I was firm on my decision. What I gave him two nights ago wasn't enough apparently. He definitely isn't going to get a chance to slip away this time. He is going to get what he truly deserves. He will be punished. There won't be a chance for mercy this time. I'm going to make sure it happens, no matter what it takes.
