TEN.
Jasmine entered the boarding house with a sigh. It’s been years, hell, decades since she felt that rush when it came to killing someone. Stefan had to deal with his thirst for blood and she had to deal with her thirst for spilled blood. In a way, they helped each other. But now, Stefan’s attention was solely on Elena and their on/off relationship, while Jasmine attempted to clean up the brothers’ messes.
She should leave and never look back. It’s a thought that always crossed her mind when things got complicated, but it was different with the Salvatores. They were family to her, she couldn’t turn her back on them, no matter how much she should and wanted to.
The sound of groans from upstairs caused the vampire to stop in her tracks and mentally gag. She decided to settle herself in the kitchen, to wash her hands and to distract herself from the commotion upstairs.
The blood mixed with the running water and eventually the liquid became clear. She took a deep breath and composed herself. It was a habit she picked up from one of the siblings when she first met them. He killed innocent people and while he was doing it, he let go. He let go of his humanity and became what he was. But when everything was over, he was quick to wipe himself clean and make sure not even a speck of blood was shown on him. He would take a deep breath and his façade would come right back up.
The noble brother.
Stefan entering the kitchen snapped her out of her trance and she turned to smile at him. The green eyed vampire playfully rolled his eyes at her as she laughed at his messy hair.
“Well, at least one of us had a good night.”
Stefan smiled and leaned against the counter, “yeah, she, um, told me she loved me. I think I can make this work, Jasmine. I really do.”
Nodding her head, Jasmine smiled at the love dazed vampire, “well, I hope it works out for you.”
Stefan got up and filled a glass of water before turning his attention to her again, “before, you mentioned only one of us had a good night. Is something wrong?”
Jasmine was facing away from him as she examined her hands in front of her. She didn’t want to worry him, now that he finally got back together with Elena and he was on cloud nine. She turned to face him and plastered a fake smile and shook her head, “nothing I can’t handle. Now go back up and keep your lady company.”
Smiling once more at her, Stefan headed back up to his room. She dropped the smile and dropped her head into her hands. Her self-hatred was cut short once again as Stefan appeared in the kitchen once more.
“Did Elena pass through here?”
“No, isn’t she supposed to be with you?”
Stefan began getting frustrated as he ran his hands through his hair, “I think she’s upset. I saw the picture of Katherine sitting on my desk along with Elena’s necklace. It’s dark outside, what if something happens to her?”
Jasmine stopped his pacing and placed her hands on his shoulders, “don’t worry, Stefan. Maybe she just needs to blow off some steam. I’m sure she’ll be okay.”
Stefan shook his head and began to pace even more before the raven haired vampire grabbed her coat and headed towards the door.
"Where are you going?"
"You know exactly where, you baboon. I'll call you when I find her."
Stefan shouted a 'thank you' before she slammed the door behind her.

Jasmine didn’t really see the point in going out to look for the annoying doppelganger, but it was the only way to ease Stefan’s mind. The sound of a car crashing snapped her direction towards the road. An ear piercing scream is what made her speed towards it. When she arrived at the scene, she saw a black car flipped upside down and Damon carrying Elena’s body in his arms.
“What the hell happened?”
Damon looked at her, confused, “she crashed and well, she fainted. Where did you come from?”
“My mother’s womb. Is she okay?” Jasmine stepped closer to the pair and noticed the top of Elena’s head was bleeding, “We should probably take care of that.”
Damon ignored the vampire and proceeded to walk to his car and laid Elena in the passenger seat.
“Damon, where are you taking her?”
“I have somewhere to go and I don’t really feel like driving all the way back home, then having to come all the way back. It’s easier if I just take her,”
Jasmine blocked his path to the driver’s seat, arms crossed, “and where exactly is that?”
“Georgia.” Damon pushed her out of the way and sat down inside of his car, shutting the car door and smirking at her, “tell my brother that she’s in good hands.”
Laughing, Jasmine pulled the door back open and pulled Damon out of the car, “yeah, I’ll tell him on the way to Georgia.” She pulled the seat forward and settled herself in the backseat. A few seconds passed before she jutted her head out to look up at Damon, “chop, chop, we’re wasting gas.”
Muttering some curse words, Damon sat back down and started the ignition. Jasmine laid down and propped her feet against the side of the car. Music was slightly blaring from the radio as she closed her eyes and lulled to a memory filled dream.
It was London, year 1918, when the news raged on about a serial killer on the loose. Bodies were being found in local and public areas. Every single person was shaken by the thought of ever encountering such a monster. No one had a clue to who it might be or what it might be. One thing they knew for sure was that it showed no mercy.
Jasmine walked down the gloomy London streets when the urge came back. She thought it had subsided with the killings she had just ensued, but here it was again, wanting more. An alarm blared throughout the town, signaling families to get inside before curfew. She narrowed her eyes on a family of four who were scurrying into their home with groceries in hand. Putting on her best alarmed face, she quickly walked over to them.
“Excuse me? I’m so sorry to bother you, but I have no where else to go and I was hoping you were kind enough to lend me shelter?” The skeptical looks of the parents made her force fake tears, “please? It’s only for tonight. I just don’t want to be outside while there’s a killer on the loose.”
The father sighed before nodding his head and opening the door wider for the vampire, “come in.”
Smiling, Jasmine stepped over the threshold and closed the door behind her, “thank you so much. I wouldn’t want to be caught out there alone with whatever monster is lurking the streets.”
Damon threw a water bottle at Jasmine’s head, making her snap awake and slap him across his head.
“Was that really necessary?” The older vampire ran her hand through her hair and sat up in the middle of the backseat. A vibrating in her pocket made her screw her eyes shut. “I forgot to call Stefan.”
Before she could reach for her phone, Damon snapped his head in her direction, “don’t call him.”
“Why not?”
Damon shrugged his shoulders and smirked at her through the rearview mirror, “because I don’t want my little brother to know Elena is with us just yet.”
Jasmine rolled her eyes and looked over at the sleeping doppelganger. Her face was pressed against the seat cushion and her hair was sprawled all around her, “so, why Georgia?”
“I need some answers on another way to open the tomb.” Damon looked at her, nervously, almost fearing her reaction. Jasmine was the sweetest person he had ever met. Well, she was sweet to the people she cared about. But she could also be very frightening when she was angry.
“Who’re we visiting?” Jasmine leaned her arms over the front seat and looked at him, eyes filled with sympathy and understanding.
“Y-You’re onboard?” The female raven-haired vampire laughed at his confused expression. Sure, she could be harsh, she’ll admit that, but she would do anything and everything to make sure her Salvatores were happy. Even if it meant opening a tomb that was currently holding desiccating vampires and a doppelganger bitch.
“Of course, Damon. If this is what you truly want, then count me in. I promise I will try to help the best I can.”
Damon looked over his shoulder and smiled brightly at his best friend. He didn’t think he deserved someone who would literally move mountains for him, but every time they were together, Jasmine made sure to make it known to him that he was worthy of every type of love the world had to offer.
