Chapter 4: The human way

It was about a week from when the year started. Since the time Tara made pact with Mammon, the demon began to slowly get used to spending time with the three humans. Yet he noticed the humans had been participating in a strange activity. Every day after school, they would go directly to their room, and would stay there locked for hours, not letting anyone in. He hated to admit it, but it was slowly staring to annoy him. What were they doing there? Why they refused to tell anyone? It was this day, he had just enough, and was determined to find out what was actually going on.

"Hey, Beel!" Mammon shouted at his brother as he passed him in the hallway, just when the white haired demon headed to the room humans were once again squatting at.

"No, you can't borrow any money from me." Beelzebub said coldly, as he stopped and glanced over his shoulder at Mammon.

"No, that's not what I want. Now, at least. Do you know what the hell are the humans doing in their room all the time?" Mammon asked, placing his hands on his hips.

"How would I know? It's none of my business." Beel responded with only zero interest. Unlike Mammon, who was clearly bothered by it.

"I just think it's weird, y'know? I swear I heard weird sounds coming from there the other day." Mammon truned to the side and looked at the door of the room they were talking about. Or, well, what Mammon was talking about.

"If you want me to help you sneak in there so you can steal from there, ask someone else." Beel spoke coldly, before turning to leave again, having no interests in Mammon's suspicions.

"Wait, that's not- damnit. Fine! I'll do it myself!" Mammon shouted at Beelzebub as he was leaving, before speedwalking to the room of the three humans. First, he leaned against the door and listened. Beside a very strange sounds he couldn't quite identify, he heard them talk. Something along the lines of, "this is going to be great", "I can't believe how fast it went" and "we're gonna get in troubles for this," which got him only more curious. He had to find a way to get in. That was when it hit him. The window.

It was a stupid idea, that's for sure. But it was too late for Mammon to realize that, when he was hanging on a rope from the roof, and was slowly sliding down to the level on where was the needed window. Luckily for him, the curtains weren't closed, and the window was even open. Perfect. He leaned closer to see and hear better, but what happened he didn't expect. A very strange and strong scent slapped him over the nose, causing him to almost fall down. What the hell was that? He couldn't help but cough.

"What was that?!" Muis yelped, rushing over to the window. But before panicking Mammon could find of a way to hide, Muis stood there, staring at him, having on a face mask for blocking chemicals.

"Uh, hey. It's totally not what it looks like." Mammon chuckled awkwardly, holding for his dear life on the rope.

"Guys, we have a bad ninja here." Muis said with a pure poker face as she turned back to the room, speaking to her two roommates.

"Let him in. There's no point in hiding it now anyway." Tara spoke from inside the room. Muis nodded, and stepped aside, so Mammon can crawl in. And so, he did.

"Here, take this." Muis offered Mammon the same mask she and the other two had on their faces. The scent inside was even stronger than outside, so he slapped it on immediately. Then the demon looked around, blinking. The humans turned their room into something far too similar to a chemical lab. Some barrels, some tubes, and several bottles of clear liquid.

"Are you cooking drugs???" Mammon asked, having not a single idea what this all was about.

"Really? Have you never seen what distillery looks like? We're making Slivovitz you moron." Annelie spoke, looking at Mammon like if he was a complete idiot, while stirring something in a large metal pot.

"Is that some kind of human drug?" Mammon asked once again, still believing they were cooking drugs, and was already thinking for how much he could sell it.

"Well, yes and no. Slivovitz is a type of alcohol, like your Demonus. But it's actually strong. It's a national drink where the two of us come from," Tara said, pointing at himself and Annelie, "all you need is a lot of fruit and a few weeks of patience. But it turned out this fruit needed only a few days of fermentation to be ready."

"It was supposed to be a surprise. Not only so we can get drunk, but to also share with you guys a bit of our human culture. Because  where we come from, it's a tradition to get to know your fellows while having a few glasses of alcohol." Annelie chuckled, but wasn't lying. It was really a common thing they did, because when drunk, the person shows their real colors.

"We tried it with Demonus, but the only drunk one was you." Tara snickered, looking over at Mammon, as he held another bottle that has been filled up with Slivovitz.

"I still have the video." Muis pulled out her phone, but Mammon groaned, pushing it down, "I saw it."

"Hey, we plan on selling some of the bottles as well. Since you're here, you can help us, and we will share some of our profit with you. Watcha say?" Annelie raised her eyebrow at Mammon, which immediately stood up straight.

"Where do I start?" and with that, Mammon joined them. They were actually almost done, but they still needed to write down the labels, and glue them to each bottle. There could have been over thirty bottles, many already full, so Mammon had enough to do.

Since they were working for a while on this, they were done in about two more hours, and could finally let the fresh air in. After all, sleeping there for the past time was pretty bad. And pretty much every morning all three of them had hangover, because the got drunk in their sleep just from the fumes. Then, finally, was time for the very first taste test.

"Cheers!" they cheered, lifting each of their glasses with a shot of Slivovitz, and downing it at once. Annelie and Tara had to explain Mammon how does one properly drink this type of alcohol. Small portion, and down at once.

Tara and Annelie took it well, even commented at what good kick it has. Muis choked a little, since she wasn't used for such a heavy alcohol, but still could admire the taste. Mammon, however, just kinda stood there, not moving. His eyes wide open, as the glass fell on the floor. It was a thick shot glass, so it didn't break. Yet the humans felt a little concerned about him.

"Yo, you okay?" Tara asked, gently poking into Mammon.

"I just ... need to sit down." Mammon muttered with a very raspy voice, wobbling backwards, and falling on Muis' bed.

"Can you see? Do you feel your legs?" Annelie asked, having a feeling maybe this wasn't a good idea after all.

"Yeah ... I just ... shit, that's strong." Mammon wheezed, rubbing his eyes, and slowly sitting up.

"Shouldn't we call someone? The hearse maybe?" Muis asked, keeping her resting bitch face, like most of the time when talking to Mammon.

"Naah, he's a champ, he's gonna walk it off. He just needs another shot into the second leg." Annelie chuckled, pouring second round to all of them.

After the second shot, and explaining to Mammon that, no, he's not going to die from this, they packed and cleaned up everything. The hid most of the bottles, but each ended up taking one, before walking out of the room.

They wanted to first visit Lucifer to give him a bottle for Diavolo, mainly as a gift for allowing them being part of this exchange program, as they were still happy they could avoid adulting for a while, and with the rest they wanted to invite the brothers for having a small party with them. Yes, they knew there was a high chance it will be only the four of them drinking in the end, but they still wanted at least try.

Of course, Lucifer didn't like the fact they were basically illegally making alcohol in their room, but after explaining their motives and a few puppy eyes from Muis and Annelie, he agreed to let it slide, and even to pass one of the bottles to Diavolo. As by his words, he was sure Diavolo would be ecstatic. But when inviting him to drink with them, he decided to pass on the party part, but agreed to at least have a taste of it.

After that, they visited each of the remaining fourth brothers, and all beside Leviathan agreed to at least taste it. Naturally, with some, like Satan, it took a little more convincing. But no matter what they told Levi, he still refused. It was a shame, but who were they to force someone to drink. They ended up meeting in the dining room, where Tara happily poured everyone a shot glass, as Annelie started explaining.

"Alright. First of all, keep in mind, it's strong, and since it's freshly made, it has quite a kick. So don't be alarmed if you'd feel a slight dizziness. But that's only when you first taste it, trust me, been there, it's gonna pass, and you'll even like it in the end. Second, don't sip it. The reason why we pour only a little, is because you have to down it in one go." Annelie spoke, looking at each of the brothers to make sure they were paying attention to her.

"Darling, it's a human drink. How bad can it be?" Asmo chuckled, not taking Annelie's warning seriously.

"Just wait when you drink it." Mammon grumbled, gaving a gleeful smirk on his face.

"Alright, bottoms up!" Tara lifted his glass, which was the last one he poured into. Others followed, lifting their own, before each and every one of them downed it. Unlike the first time, Mammon took it way better, just like the three humans. However, the same couldn't have been said about his brothers. Beelzebub had the best of the first reaction, holding on pretty well, but he did stare into nothing for a moment. Lucifer and Satan stood there almost in a shock, like if they were trying to proceed that humans were able to make something this strong. As for Asmo, he fell to the floor, looking like his spirit just escaped his body.

After a few moments, when the demons soaked in what they just experienced, Satan and Lucifer excused themselves before leaving the room. Beelzebub ended up leaving as well, as he wasn't really fan of the taste. Asmo, however, liked the kick, and decided to stay with them drinking. So they moved into the humans' room, just so they won't bother anyone.

It could have been maybe half a bottle gone when all five of them got bored of normal talk. So, Annelie had the brilliant idea of going out into the city, and have some fun. Taking enough bottles so all of them have enough to drink, they got up, and left the house of Lamentation. First, they visited the shopping center, and bought a whole lot of things none of them needed, as the first bottle officially went empty.

The next stop was the Hell Kitchen, as the hunger got to them. For once even Asmo didn't care what he would eat, as long as it was nice and greasy. And being sneaky, there the second bottle fell for good. But then, while leaving, Asmo dragged them into one of the local night clubs. And because of the magic of Slivovitz, all of them ended up dancing on the dance floor like a group of retarded monkeys.

Asmodeus and Annelie somehow managed to hold their posture, unlike the other three, who kept falling while laughing like hyenas. Needless to say, they all got kicked out after Tara puked right on the dance floor, after spinning around for five minutes straight.

"W-what do we do *hic* n-now?" Muis asked, sitting down on the ground, as her legs had a hard time carry her.

"I feel like doing something baaad." Annelie snickered, before chugging some more from the third now half empty bottle.

"Well, there's a *hic* l-lake nearby. Hooow about we go have a naked swim?" Asmo suggested, clearly having some naughty thoughts.

"HELL YEAAAH!" Tara shouted, lifting both of his arms up.

"With you all? N-no waaay." Mammon groaned, yet one could see him already having a slight blush. And not the one you get from alcohol.

"Nonsense! Come onnnnnn, Mammon, darling, it's gonna be fuuuun!" Tara wrapped his arms around Mammon's waist, and nuzzling his head against the demon's chest.

In the end, Mammon ended up agreeing, and the whole group moved to the lake. And since the alcohol was heavily affecting their behavior, they all stipped down to their bare skin, and jumped into the cold water. The rest of the night was nothing but a fog.

They all woke up with a really heavy hangover, all ganged up in Mammon's room. Luckily, they all had at least their underwear on, but where was the rest of the clothing? Probably still at the lake. Muis and Annelie were the only ones who slept in the bed, curled up and tucked in. Tara and Mammon woke up both on the couch. Yet while Mammon laid there spread, so no one else would fit, Tara laid over him, with his legs over the back of the couch, and head hanging down, almost touching the floor. Asmo ended up wobbling out of Mammon's closet, looking like he just woke up from the death.

After watching a video that Annelie took of them all playing tag naked around the woods, they agreed not to talk about this, and to delete all evidence. And saying that breakfast was awkward would be too weak. But luckily, it seemed like no one had a one-night stand. That would take the morning to a whole nother level.
