•Chapter 2: Waking Up•
The scorching neon lights shown down on the unconscious young adults. Their shackles glinting in the unpleasant light. There were few things in the bricked room, only a small table next to a door on the far side of the small group and a closet in the other corner. The wooden door was old, and looked like it was about to fall off its hinges, and the other furniture wasn't in the best shape either. The table's legs seemed to have been broken and fixed multiple times, and the closet seemed to be on the verge of collapsing on itself like a black hole. The chains were around the wrists of them, and were surprisingly well maintained, yet something was off. There was no lock. Nothing but the chains and the bulls themselves against the hard ridged wall. The shackles were snacking on the ground, curving to create handcuffs around their wrists.
A few hours passed and soon everyone started to wake up. One by one, asking the same questions over and over again to each other. Who are you? and Where are we? It wasn't a surprise. No one remembers what happened on that night or how they got here. Everything else in their memory is fine. It was quite strange to only forget one event and have everything else intact.
Elizabeth seemed to be bewildered, but content with the situation. Most likely due to the fact he didn't want to live, and painfully- in his mind -is still alive because of his brother who loves him. Veronica's taphophobia was setting in as she realized they are likely underground. She sees the walls slowly crumble above and all around her, Veronica's fear slowly taking over. She didn't show the emotion, but she was terrified and wanted to immediately leave. Yulia- Elizabeth's brother -wanted to know what happened, like everyone else. But he was more curious about the situation than anything. They were scared, but the absence of anyone getting hurt- not now at least -made this even more interesting for Yulia. And then there was Hiro. He was petrified that they were 'locked up,' like what his parents would do to keep him in one place while they beat him. Shaking, Hiro was calming himself down, at least he's trying to. Sympathy is what they needed right now from each other and to communicate about the situation at hand.
"Alright, I know we all just met and all, but does anyone know what happened?" Veronica questions, trying to keep her voice steady.
"No, I don't and I doubt any of you do either." Elizabeth replied with a emotionless tone.
"Elizabeth!" His brother scolded. "It is not the time for this. We are just trying to understand what's happening." Yulia understood that his brother doesn't like people, and that he doesn't want any part in this. None of them do. But if they don't at least speak to each other, most likely they will start to go insane.
"Well, all I remember is going to a graduation party. Everything else is black after that." Hiro added after a few moments, his voice small, quiet as the wind itself.
"Same here. I remember everything else in my life." Yulia complied, with a interested tone lacing his voice.
"Strange, it seems like someone erased it from our memory. I wonder..." Elizabeth thought aloud, causing the others to look at him, wanting him to continue.
"What do you mean?" Veronica asked, not yet understanding what he was trying to say.
"Yeah, Eli, what are you trying to say?" Yulia also questioned.
"Well, let's just say magic exists-" Elizabeth was interrupted by Veronica's input.
"Well it doesn't t-" Elizabeth stopped her.
"I said let's just say it does." He looked at her, ready for another comment, but she let him continue. "If magic did exist, it would explain a lot more than just our kidnapping. It would explain why we can't remember one thing, yet everything else in our memory is fine." He let this information sink in with the others.
"Well, continue brother!" Yulia said, excitedly. His brother is never this deep in though about something like this, and what he was saying was very interesting from a none superstitious guy.
"Sure, simple strays and such would usually work, but..." Elizabeth trailed off, still in thought about the situation.
"What are you saying?" Hiro urged, wanting to know more, like everyone else in the room.
"Think about it! There were other crimes going on at the same time as the party, and I suspect they were by the same people, too. And if they really wanted us to forget it, why leave the memory of the party at all in our minds. They're using us somehow." He concurred.
"What does this have to do with the magic thing you said earlier?" Veronica says, still unsure what he is saying about this.
"Well, there are limited people, they could have used magic- if it existed keep in mind - to do more with less people. And traces would appear less. And..." He didn't finish, there was an infinite possibilities of what they could do.
"Well first, who are they?" Yulia asks the others.
Their conversation was cut short when the door sung open to reveal a person in the doorway, smirking.
"I guess you will find out quite soon, children" He replies, his voice dark and laced with evil.
Hey guys! OMG! Who could this be? And do you think there is magic behind some of this madness? Tell me in the comments! Anyways, on to the next chapter!
