Chapter 38

Avu turned back to find her husband already standing there with cups of coffee in his hands, having a shocked face. His hands were shaking as many thoughts clouded his mind, but only words that came out all of a sudden.

Sidd: Do you know Vaishu di personally?

Avu opened her mouth to speak as she took steps towards him, but she couldn't summarize everything in one word. Sidd's eyes were leaking tears as he again asked the same question.

Sidd (cracky voice): Tell me, do you know Vaishu di personally?

Avu didn't know how to tell him as no one was coming in her mind. She just nodded her head, exhaling sharply. Sidd closed his eyes to calm himself. He walked towards the table and kept the tray on the table, gripping its edges and leaning on it, bowing his head down. Avu walked towards him and kept her hand on his shoulder, leaning on the table. She didn't want the truth to come out this soon, but now, if it is, then she also has to tell everything to Sidd. Otherwise, she might lose his trust.

Avu (rubbing his shoulder): I want to tell you something.

Sidd (looking down): Since when do you know Vaishu di?

Avu (chuckle): I will answer every question of yours, but you also promise not to react immediately.

Sidd (looked at her, confused): What do you mean?

Avu held his arm and made him sit on the chair behind him. She dragged another chair for herself and settled herself in front of Sidd, leaving him confused and worried. She held his hands but didn't speak a word, which made Sidd annoyed.

Sidd: Why are you testing my patience, Avu? Tell me, Please!

Avu (looking into his eyes): Your Vaishu di is alive, and she acted her kidnapping.

Sidd froze hearing those words. He wasn't accepting such a thing from his sister.

Sidd (clueless): W-What do you mean?

Avu: I know if I would tell you everything, it would hurt you more, and I also don't have the courage to tell you everything.

Sidd was looking at her confused while Avu dragged her phone out of her pocket and called a number. It was going on ringing, but no one was answering it.

Avu (whispering): Vaishnavi, pick it up! It's important.

That's when the phone was answered. The voice that Sidd heard froze him at his place. Yes, it was Vaishu. Sidd took a sharp breath before whispering.

Vaishu (suspicious): Avneet, is it you? Why aren't you saying anything? Hello?

Sidd (whisper): Di..!

Vaishu's ear automatically identified the voice. The voice she was craving to hear from last 2 weeks. She got impulsive in happiness hearing her baby bro's voice. She sat on her bed with thud in the flood of happiness. She covered her mouth in happiness as a joyful sob escaped her lips.

Vaishu: My baby bro, how is my brother?

Sidd (stern voice): Your baby bro is dead for you.

Avu glanced at Sidd in shock while Vaishu's smile fell from her lips.

Sidd (in stern voice): Your baby bro died the day you played everything as a result of which your husband blamed your baby bro.

Vaishu shook her head negatively as she sobbed hard. Avu, on the other hand, snatched the phone from his hand, glaring him.

Avu (whispering angrily): Sidd, what are you doing? Have you gone mad?

Sidd (glaring her in return): Yes, I have gone mad, and today I want my every answer from her.

Avu (looking at him pleading): It will only hurt you, Sidd, no one else.

Sidd (snatching the phone from her hand): Let me get hurt and broken at once only. I can not bear this pain every now and then.

Avu opened her mouth to say something, but Sidd didn't allow her and dragged her phone near his ear.

Sidd (mad): Why did you play all this? If you were in any sort of problem with your relationship with dada or anything, you would have asked me for help. At least today, I wouldn't have to lose my dada like this.

Vaishu (sobbing): Ashu, I didn't have any problem, but he had. He blamed me, Ashu.

Sidd (chuckling humourously): Oh really? What did he blame to you at that stage that you had to stage all that? It made me criminal in his eyes. What was it, huh?

Vaishu (sobbing hard, shaking her head): I can't tell you, please! Don't force me, please!

Sidd (cracky voice): Yeah, it's because you don't have any specific reason, right? Dada loves you a lot, but you...

Vaishu (burst in frustration while crying): He blamed me and you both at the same time. He thought we were having an affair.

Sidd froze hearing her. No words came out of his mouth. A frown formed on his forehead.

Sidd (confused): Affair? What do you mean?

Vaishu (yelling while crying): He seems that we have an illegitimate relationship. He was considering our closeness in a negative way, and he also slapped me for it. He pointed my and your character, Siddharth.

Sidd glanced at Avu, who nodded her head. His eyes filled up water.

Sidd (curious): Can you explain it? Please!

Vaishu wiped her tears and calmed herself down before speaking. Taking a deep breath, she continued.

Vaishu (sniffing): You remember Abhi's friend Aarush?

Sidd: Yeah!

Vaishu (sniffing): He is not only Abhi's friend but my ex also. I was engaged to his as he proposed to me before my and Abhi's marriage, but then, I got to know that it was not his love but obsession and impulsion that was suffocating me. He wasn't honest to me and was hanging me with him. It was all fixed by parents but when I met Abhi, I fell in love with him. We worked 3 years under the same roof. In those 4 years, I and Abhi developed feelings for each other. Aarush used to force his every decision on me. That's why I broke up with him and married Abhi with pride, respect, and love. Abhi never knew about my past life, and I never wanted to tell him also as Aarush left this county as soon as my father took action against him. I and Abhi were happy in their lives. Sam was born, and it was her 2nd birthday. You remember, Aarush arrived at her birthday party and introduced himself as Abhi's friend.

Sidd (processing everything): Yeah, I remember. He came and shook his hand with dada.

Vaishu (tears leaking her eyes): It was his trap. He came back to blackmail me, but when I stood against him, he started a project with Abhi and came close to him just to destroy my home. I never wanted my past to affect my present, but it did. Abhi never mind our closeness, but our closeness in front of Aarush went awkward for him, and that was the point Aarush used against me and you. Abhi asked me to stay away from you, or else I would see the worst of him. He was doubting my love, Ashu. I tolerated a lot, but it was my extent. His blame of affairs made me do all this. I never wanted to do all this. If I hadn't done this, I would have gone mentally ill there till now.

Sidd (tears leaking his eyes): Don't tell me dada's behaviour was changed just because of our closeness and his misunderstanding?

Vaishu (taking a deep breath, closing her eyes): Yes, It was because of this only. The thing that hurt me was that he didn't ask me or talk to me about it. He just made a decision and announced it. I thought Abhi would be different from others, but he also came out to be like other coward men.

The phone slid down from Sidd's hand as tears clouded his eyes. Avu held the phone before it could fall down and looked up at Sidd to see him statue with tears not leaving his eyes. She pressed her lips against each other and squeezed his shoulder to console him. There, Vaishu glanced at her phone to call the call already ended. A sob echoed in the room while she ran to the washroom and closed the door with thud. Sidd looked at Avu with puffy eyes with a little hope that everything he heard might be false.

Sidd (cracky voice, holding her hand): Avu, please tell me. All this is false, right? How can Abhi bhaiya think about me like that? I am his brother, his blood brother.

Avu (wiping his tears when her own tears leaked her eyes): It's all true, Sidd. Not even a single word said by her was false. It's all true.

Sidd backed off, exhaling shakily. He processed for a minute and then stood up.

Sidd (wiping his tears while they weren't stopping, shaky voice): I think I should leave now.

He walked past Avu and left the room while Avu kept calling him. She held her head in her hands as he left the place. She leaned down on her chair and exhaled sharply as she wiped her tears.

Avu (in mind, closed eyes): He needs some time alone. Oh god! I pray he doesn't take any wrong step. God, please help me in removing his pain, please!

Avu (whispers): Please remove his pain and give it to me!
