Chapter 37

Percy dodged to the side easily and stepped around the green giant as he went barreling past and into one of the parked cars in the area. His fist stuck in the metal of the door, keeping The Hulk stuck there for a few moments as Percy turned to the others surrounding him. As soon as he did he had to dodge to the side as an arrow came flying through the space his head was and as he was dodging a bullet stuck his waist but crumpled and fell to the ground uselessly.

Percy growled, whipping out his arm and letting the chain willingly extend towards Clint. It nearly connected with his bow but the archer lept backwards and back-rolled out of the way and to the side just in time whilst grabbing another arrow. Percy however wasn't aiming to continue after him though as he caught Tony by his mask and threw him into Steve.

Natasha had emptied the clips of both of his pistols during this interaction but seeing that none of the bullets were having an effect on Percy she decided to get up close and let the others work on a plan to get Percy into the trap. Percy stepped back as a blade narrowly missed his neck and blocked the second as it came towards his head with the back of his hand. The blade was, interestingly enough, able to draw a thin line of blood from the area and Natasha's eyes widened as Percy's chains struck her in chest and sent her flying as well.

By the time Percy had recovered there was a giant disk or red and blue flying towards his head but it was easily caught and that's when The Hulk's fist send him flying through the next few buildings.

"I think we're going to need a better plan Nat" Steve said and she shushed him.

"Yeah I know. I'm working on it." She said watching The Hulk dive into the messy path after the Newest Primordial. Tony came up next to the others, his suit was sparking in a few places and he had to replace his helmet with another due to Percy's strength.

"I think we may have overestimated our capability to fight him here" Clint walked over to stand with the others. And while none outwardly voiced their agreement the statement bore deep into their minds.

"We've got help on the way." Nat said, "We've just got to try our best for the time being."

"And this help is--" They all had to scatter as The Hulk's body came flying in their direction once more. Crashing into the buildings over a football field away with the building coming crashing down a moment later.

Percy's growl of annoyance caused all of them to freeze up as he walked from the debris of the earlier buildings he'd been thrown to and looked at the four standing before him.

"This is a huge waste of time. We're in a battlefield against ancient gods and here you all are fighting me instead of helping defeat the giant threat to this planet, and the universe." Percy's claws sharpened, his canines grew a little longer and gained a ruby shine to them, and his eyes became crimson beads of hell. "I'm done being nice."

He disappeared and the next moment was pure chaos.

Clint tried to react as Percy appeared at his side but he stood no chance as his bow was snapped in two and a punch threw him into another car.

Natasha managed to dodge a strike aimed to knock her out but a round-house kick knocked the wind out of her and she was sent further down the street, winded and bordering unconsciousness.

Tony's systems alerted him of an incoming strike from behind but when he moved out of the way to dodge a chain struck the side of his helmet and he crumbled to the ground unconscious instantly.

Steve actually did the best of the group, his shield took the brunt of a three punches and non of his retaliatory strikes connected. It was ripped him his arm a moment later and he was sent into another car falling to a knee barely hanging on.

"Stay down" Percy growled sharply, "You all have no idea what is going --" Percy was interrupted as a giant white streak barreled into him and through a few more buildings. Percy teleported out of the newest arrivals' grip and about ten feet away in the middle of another street as the creature stood and looked at him. This was new.

A being with the head of a snake, a warped figure whose arms and legs were clearly not meant for that form stood before him. It had white scales all over the visible limbs and parts of its body and there was a sort of strap over it's shoulder and Percy could see that he hands and feet had sharp looking claws. Toxic green eyes stared at him and the creature's tongue flicked out a moment before, fast as lightning, it grabbed two things from the strap and something on the vest it wore and dashed at Percy.

Percy redirected the projectiles with his chains and they exploded a moment before the creature got within arms reach, a large knife with a silver bronze glint was already swiping towards his neck. Death blocked the strike easily and Destruction drew blood as the snake-like creature quickly withdrew. A thin line of reddish-yellow blood ran down the wound and the creature looked at it in annoyance before reaching behind and drawing another knife.

Percy was finally able to see the red symbol on the vest it was wearing and tried to think of where he saw the symbol before. It was an octopus with a skull for a face and Percy swore he saw it one time. The creature didn't give him the time to think as it dashed towards him once more with a series of strikes faster than a creature it's size seemingly should be able to move, but seeing that it's a snake creature it should be able to move quite fast.

Percy cleared his mind and focused on the creature before him, maybe he should just call it a snake-man instead of creature? Surely with movement like this it wasn't just some simple minded *cough* green *cough* creature but a thinking being. He was able to see that it had skill and was a very fast learner with it came to using the blades but it seemed to lack the certain 'finesse' that masters of their craft had.

Percy grinned at it, spotting a feint and threw his sword at the snake-man. It wasn't meant to injure, not really, but it served in distracting it nicely. A moment later two knives were in each of the snake-man's legs and a large cut went along both sides of it's waist now. There, now both sides match.

Percy lept to the side as a knife came flying towards his face and he caught sight of something uncoiling from behind the snake-man too late as a large white tail wrapped around his leg and threw him through a few more buildings. The snake-man took the time to wrench the knives out of it's legs, wincing as they burned it's hands and watched the direction it's adversary went flying. Not noticing as each one he dropped was disappearing before hitting the ground.

It did, however, notice this when one of them came flying towards it's face. Cutting through it's cheek as it dodged to the side, and it had to do a series of contorting twists and bends to dodge the other five that came it's way. Two of them struck true and it had to bear with the pain as Percy came dashing out of the hole: eyes ablaze and a shining red fire following behind. A tail the color of magma appeared behind him as he grinned.

"I figured I might as well match since you're the most fun monster I've fought since my return." Percy's grin stayed in the air for a moment as the red of his figure disappeared, and the creature was barely able to twist to the side and block the strike with a knife. The impact of both swords hitting the blade shook it's arm but it couldn't worry about that as it redirected the blow and moved out of the way. It needed to get to the other knife somehow.

Percy's grin flashed in it's mind as it felt something wrap around it's leg and the next moment it was the one going through several buildings. Percy followed after it mercilessly, dropping the sword for a full punch to it's vest, and the snake-man went flying through a few more buildings before crashing to the ground winded. The sound of chains echoed all around it and there was something dropped onto it's vest. The snake-man looked down to see that it's missing knife was just tossed at it without care.

"Come on." The growling voice came from everywhere, "Get up and fight me." How did they expect him to beat this monster. The snake-man dragged its way out of the hole and looked weakly at the being standing before it with a mad grin. He just wanted to be free, to be human again and this, this was supposed to be an easy task they said. They said they'd cure him once he'd captured the target, but this, this wasn't a target. This was a nightmare.

Percy was grinning at the snake-man hungrily, the crimson silver flames covered his entire body and his eyes shone like a demon playing with it's food.

Prey. That's all the snake-man realized he was to Percy. It was his prey, and he wasn't about to leave it alone for a while yet. The snake-man brought itself to it's feet once more to accept its fate.

Until a green fist slammed into Percy's side and a large green man roared in the place he'd been.
