Chapter 13
I watched as Artemis flashed away with the three and I decided that now would be a good time to go back and tell father what I saw.
A portal opened up in front of me and I stepped through. Flashing somewhere took up so much energy and I didn't want to do that unless I had no other choice. Usually when I flash somewhere everything around me vaporizes and when I go back to the spot I'd been it's usually a mess of destruction as if a bomb had exploded in the area.
I stepped through to father's office and knocked on the door. I could feel his presence behind said door and so I didn't need to go anywhere else. There's also the fact that I could see wherever he was in My Monster Prison, but I didn't need to spy on him.
"Come in," he said and I opened the door and stepped through. When he looked up and saw me coming in he scowled, "you don't need to knock to come in son, you already know what I am doing, where I am, and if I'm busy."
"Yeah, but I don't like to invade on other peoples privacy," I said extending the chain on my left wrist to play with and spin in circles as I sat down. Tartarus sighed rubbing his face with a hand.
"Why did I take you in again?" He sighed and I grinned.
"Because I'm adorable?" I said grinning and he just scoffed and rubbed his face some more, groaning.
"Okay you only seem to come here when either you're bored or if something's happened, so what is it?" He said and I growled annoyed. I was hoping to avoid it for at least another two or three minutes.
"Well I was on my hunt for Kronos when I noticed that the Titan was acting strange. I followed him to an abandoned building and another man showed up," I paused, grabbing the end of my chain to look Tartarus in the eyes seriously. "He had a strange aura around him like everything about him had to be in perfect balance with the things around the space he occupied. Even his voice seemed to resonate with the air, forcing it to obey some unseen command." Father looked at me surprised.
"And he didn't see you? Or Sense you there at all?" I shook my head and motioned to my cloak and mask.
"Thanks to this it was easier than I thought to stay hidden, but who is he anyways?"
Father stood from his desk and walked around to put a hand on my shoulder. He gripped it reassuringly and then backed off to the door.
"I will take care of this, you don't need to worry about who he might be," he said and the second his hand left my shoulder his presence disappeared. I turned around in the chair to stare at the empty spot he'd occupied and sighed.
"I don't think it's going to go as smoothly as you wish father. At least not if it's who I think it is?" I said and looked at the table for something to do. "Dammit, he didn't even leave me anything to work on in the meantime."
—————3rd POV—————
Tartarus appeared in a large room with a circular table and a multitude of chairs that sat empty for the moment. He walked around to his chair and sat in it. Usually when coming to a throne room a god or primordial would show their sigil or do something using their domain to catch the attention of all.
But Tartarus only wanted to have a few gods show at the moment, so as soon as he say down a telepathic signal was sent out to those specific gods and goddesses to come to the round table.
The next second Gaia, Pontus, Nyx, Chaos, Order, and Chronos appeared. They were the deities that were assigned by Chaos to watch over the mortal realm, and even Chaos herself seemed able to get her brother Order to join her. He already had his hands crossed over his chest and was glaring at Tartarus murderously.
"So now what's going on?" Nyx groaned, "it better not be Gaea again, I'm so tired of her stealing the spotlight due to that stupid double personality she has." Everyone looked at Nyx exasperated, well everyone but Gaia, who looked at her with an intense glare.
"Actually no, it's not about Gaia this time," Tartarus said, "her other half has been 'dealt with' for a while. This is actually about our parents. Chaos and Order are fighting again and now it seems that Earth has been caught in the middle of everything."
"Ugh! That stupid planet again?! Why are they also always the center of attention around here?!!" Nyx growled scratching the side of her table with her long blackened claws.
"Watch your mouth Nyx, that 'stupid planet' is my manifestation and you cannot talk considering you also tried to take over my body." Gaia seethed slamming a hand on the table.
"Yeah, and I would've had full control over it if that stupid—" Chronos clapped before she could continue.
"We've gotten of topic again you two," he looked at Tartarus, "please continue. How is it that our parents fighting again is important enough to bring us all here?"
"Well other than that being my son's home planet it is also a battleground for Mom and Dad's new armies," Tartarus said and Order's aura only heightened in his glare.
"I have no such qualms with that planet," he growled and Chaos, who sat right beside him looked over incredulously.
"You're lying already?" She mocked and Order grit his teeth and set his jaw.
"Fine! Ill tell you what I want," He shot out of his chair and it crumbled into ash behind him. Chronos groaned in his chair at the unnecessary use of power and time he'd have to spend just to fix that after this meeting. "The gods of that planet have gotten lazy, and their mortals are getting too close to discovering how to spread their blasphemy to other worlds. I am going to stop it and keep the order of this universe by eliminating their race."
"Okay I'll admit I don't like humans either, but isn't that a bit too far?" Gaia herself stood this time and a few of the Primordials around nodded in agreement. "I mean the Nordic Gods have Earth set as their median world, the Giant serpent, Oroborus, and the feral wolf of end, Fenris, are both enprisoned there. It is the anchor that Chaos actually set to keep the universe from collapsing itself, and humans themselves are capable of many things.
"I mean I'll admit that they treat me like crap even though I am the only being that can facilitate life for them, but the power of the minds has created multiple dimensions with their own universes that also spread the collection of time and keep both Mother's, Your, and Chronos' domains in a stable balance," Gaia wiped the dust from atop her section and look at at her father seriously.
"What are you talking about?" Order growled himself, pointing at her accusingly, "You tried to overthrow the gods and almost caused several mass extinction events that could've split your manifestation on half. You have been just as reckless as those stupid gods."
"Yes. That is correct, and I am still trying to control my 'other side', but a certain human showed me that maybe the them and their gods should stay alive for the moment. At least until I grow old and die out like my former sister, Aris, rest her soul." Gaia looked down with a solemn expression and that seemed to cut the mood of the room for the moment.
"Well whether they are good for the universe or not I do not like how they have no balance, no sense of equality in all things. Heck they haven't even tapped into the natural elements around them to use in fighting or research." Order said leaning on the table with both hands and looking at his four five eldest children tiredly. "I am sick of it, and if they don't learn how to make balance then I am going to show them balance."
He faded from view in a waterfall of yellow lights and everyone's attention was brought to his wife. She looked tired as well, but for a different reason and most knew the reason why.
"I am trying to have him set peace with Earth and it's inhabitants, but it is taking more than I thought." She sighed and also started to disappear, "maybe through this war will be the only way to get his viewpoint set alongside ours." Then her body disappeared in a multitude of mini exploding balls of darkness.
Tartarus and the others looked around amongst themselves and just as they were all preparing to leave another few materialized. Eros, Erebus, and Aether. Eros immediately went over to Tartarus and looked him in the eyes.
"How is it that you have a son now and no one knows about him?" He asked while Gaia looked at Pontus in annoyance.
"Why is it that you didn't say anything?" She purred and said party gulped in fear.
"No one asked about it even though I clearly have a part of my power missing." Tartarus leaned to the side trying to get away from the crazy relationship primordial.
"Well I-I didn't think it was important." Pontus was gasping like a fish in Gaia's claws.
"I PRACTICALLY SHARE A BODY WITH YOU! HOW DARE YOU NOT DEFEND IT!" Gaia roared, cutting off Eros as he tried to speak and allowing Tartarus to open a portal to the other side of the table to escape all of the ensuing chaos.
"I-I'm sorry honey, but you just looked like you had it handled and I didn't want to intrude," Pontus said half heartedly, "and to speak to our father like that, you made a much stronger point than I could have."
"Don't you mean your afraid of Order because he could beat you to dust?" Gaia said, slightly cooled off, and Pontus nodded. Then Gaia turned to Tartarus and everyone followed suit, but said dirty was no longer in the meeting room. He had taken his chance and escaped knowing that Pontus would cool off Gaia's mood one way or the other.
"What are we going to do with that fool?" Erebus sighed looking at Chronos and Aether, who both just shrugged. "Well hopefully his son isn't as annoying as he is. Maybe we'll meet someday." the three then stepped into their respective portals and left. Gaia and Pontus went through the same portal, and Eros left not too soon after.
"Why do I have a feeling that I am not going to like Tartarus' kid?" She mused tapping her claws on the table a few times before falling backwards in her chair and disappearing. Leaving an empty meeting room with eighteen specially designed chairs and two extravagant chairs standing next to each other in the psuedo-illuminated room.
Thank you all for reading.
I know that I say this a lot and I am trying to meet personal standards, and I hope to keep you all interested. But I will keep saying it for as long as I am writing this story.
Anyways I've gotten into some pretty deep things here of which I may not remember, nor go very deep into, but I just wanted a decent background to why Earth is so valued when, if other powerful life forms exist, they are so bad to each other, their environment (planet), and potentially other things in their universe.
Hope you enjoyed and I am still hopping to meet that five chapter-in-a-row release that I promised y'all for reaching 100k before I took down a quarter of the book to rewrite it.
P.S. - This counts right? Or are y'all gonna make me release them all at once 🥲
