Top 5 Rejected Cartoon Pilots

Every Cartoon has to start somewhere, thats what a Pilot is for.

Usually used to describe the entirety of the show itself.

But some shows, sadly they don't go beyond that First Episode.

That's what We're Talking about today.

I honestly thought this Book was Dead.

Hey I've been Busy with other things Underline Word Dude!

Anyway Here are My Picks for the Top 5 Rejected Cartoon Pilots.

5) Grandpa and Julie Shark Hunters:

Produced by Klasky-Csupo, the team behind Rugrats, comes a pilot based on a series of comic strips from Nickelodeon Magazine created by Jef Czekaj.

Grandpa and Julie Shark Hunters is Mostly Self Explanatory, even though ironically they don't actually hunt in sport, they just search for sharks, as they have a pet shark named Steven.

The Pilot was rejected Due to the Fact it was based on a somewhat niche comic in Nickelodeon Magazine.

Also, I'm not making this up, this for some reason has no IMDB page so i can't really identify most of the voice cast, with the exception of Julie, who's Voice was provided by Hynden Walch, best known for Voicing Princess Bubblegum on Adventure Time and Starfire on Teen Titans and Teen Titans GO!

4) AJ's Infinite Summer:

Created by Toby Jones, a Former Storyboard Artist on Regular Show.

The Pilot was in a way an aged-up version of Phineas and Ferb, mostly because it was about high school students, more specially AJ and his two friends Danny and Morgan, who are dating BTW. But it's mostly AJ's story as he tries a new thing every day.

It was rejected due to, "Long Live the Royals," getting Picked up in it's place.

Does anyone even remember that?

I don't think so.

In My Opinion, this should have been picked up, but not on Cartoon Network like it was meant to be.

I honestly believed it could have worked on something like Netflix or Some other Streaming Service, because I can't see this being appealing to kids as the main characters are teenagers.

3) Sailor Moon USA:

I am not making this up, at one point in the 90's some executive thought it would have been a good idea to make an americanized version of the popular Anime Sailor Moon. By Mixing Live Action and Animation.......for some reason.

Nothing much about this came up with the exception of this Intro which was also used to sell the program to television networks. It didn't get picked up obviously.

Probably for the best, but, then again, I'm guessing this was before Anyone realized it would be easier to just Dub over lines on the Anime itself for the American Audience to Understand, and now you know where Toonami comes from.

2) Scott Pilgrim Animated Series:

Based on the Beloved Graphic Novel Series of the same name.

Originally this was a Prequel short for the 2010 movie, "Scott Pilgrim Vs The World," starring Michael Cera, but was also intended to be a pilot for an Animated Series on [adult swim].

But unfortunately the Movie itself Flopped making back Half the Budget so the Plans for the Series was Scrapped.

Although, the Film has received more attention in later years and has gain a cult Following. Mostly due to the fact the film was very faithful to the Graphic Novels.

While I do believe Michael Cera was honestly Perfect Casting for the Lead role, I think the Film would have been Better Animated.

Now because of the Franchise's Popularity I can Imagine someone reworking a New Scott Pilgrim Animated Show for Netflix. But that's only in my imagination right now.

Honorable Mentions:

1) Galactic Kids Next Door:

I am honestly PISSED this didn't get picked up.

Galactic Kids Next Door is a Sequel to the Cartoon Network series, "Codename: Kids Next Door," picking up after the show's series finale.

Even with creator's intent on Continuing and The Voice Actors Reprising their Roles from the original.

Why was it not Picked up, it's because Cartoon Network thought it wouldn't appeal to today's kids.

But I honestly believe that statement is one big pile of Shit.

Sorry Couldn't resist!

I don't blame yah UWD.

I honestly Believe the real reason is because they honestly rather Reboot KND instead, thankfully there is no KND reboot as of yet, hopefully never happens.

But, the main reason I said that was because Cartoon Network went on a Reboot Spree a Few Years ago and Rebooting Shows Left and Right, or in this case Left and Wrong.

THAT JOKE WASN'T ORIGINAL!

Oh Shut Up!

They were basically Making Reboots of Shows like Ben 10 and Powerpuff Girls, all without the Original Creators involvement or even the same voice actors, and their excuse is......

MONEY!

So yeah, Cartoon Network's Reboot Crazy Phase pretty much killed Galactic Kids Next Door.

Although I do believe the show has a chance on HBO MAX.

I mainly say that because 2000s Kids stuff are now Nostalgic Money Makers Now. And As a 2000s Kid Myself i say it's about Fucking Time! I may have been born in 1997 but i have No Memory of the 90's they ended when I was 28 months old. So technically I am a 2000's Kid.

2000's Shows like Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, and The Proud Family have or are making big comebacks. One of the Biggest Games of this year is a Remake of the 2003 Smash Hit Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom. I could go on but, yeah, safe to say the 2020's big Nostalgia money maker is for 2000's Kids, mainly because we are mainly adults now and many of us want to watch those shows again.

I can see G:KND be a success with the 2000s Kids Market on HBO Max, mainly because I think it would appeal to more people on a Streaming Service since that's where sequels or revivals to TV shows go now.

For Example, Full House aired on ABC, the sequel Fuller House aired on Netflix, you see where I'm going here.

So yeah, those my picks, is there anything i missed, tell me in the comments.

Also leave any suggestions for future top 5s down below. See yah next time.

Meanwhile

Oh your stalling Xander.....you only got 6 top 5s left before your doom arrives.
