Top 5 Scrapped Disney Movies

Sometimes there isn't enough magic in the world. And sometimes the Happiest company on Earth sometimes have to shelve movies for either later use or never to be heard from again.

These are my Picks for the Top 5 Scrapped Disney Movies.

Basically I'm talking about films that were in development at Disney but then got Shelved or Canceled, I will also include Marvel and Pixar movies as well. Star Wars will not be on the list because most of their scrapped projects were for TV.

And also, for some breaking news as the first one off our countdown was recently shelved.

5) Gigantic:

This was going to be an Updated take on the Story of Jack and the Beanstalk, with promotional details coming out at The 2015 D23 Expo, this was rumored to be Disney's next big thing after Frozen. The film was slated for a March 2018 release, until it was moved to November of the same year with Wreck-it Ralph 2 taking it spot, then Ralph wrecked the November date, by that I mean took it over, and Gigantic was pushed back to November 2020. But as of writing this, a few days ago Disney announced that the film has been shelved. With my good pal jimbob16gros saying and I quote, "F##K," couldn't have said it any better myself. Now there is another film taking up Gigantic Space but there is one problem, now that this movie is off the Scheduale, this will major effect Zootopia, why? Look at this actual pun from the movie:

Uh.....Oops!

4) Newt:

This was a film originally scheduled for 2011, then 2012, then, nothing. Why? Well the plot for this movie was about 2 rare Blue Footed Newts that are forced to be together despite hating each other. Why was it scrapped, well from inspection online, it was scrapped due to simularities to the 2011 film Rio, made by 20th Century Fox and their Pixar-like rival animation Studio, Blue Sky Animation, which also happens to be based in the same state I live in, for those that haven't seen it, Rio was about two Birds, who were rumored the last of their species, to procreate. Basically Pixar didn't want to look like a bunch of jerks to ripoff a rival studio. Like how some are saying their upcoming movie Coco will ripoff 2014's Book of Life, also released by Fox, but I checked while being centered around Day of the Dead, their stories are completely Different.

3) Yellow Submarine (Motion Capture Remake)

Yes for some reason Disney was planning on making a motion capture remake of The Beatles' Yellow Submerine with Robert Zemeckis, the man behind films like Back to The Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and The Polar Express, the film was set for a 2013 release but was scrapped in 2011 for a good reason. Zemeckis' Company, Image Movers, teamed up with disney in the late 2000's and started making motion capture movies, which they're were 2 of, starting with 2009's A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, and Bob Hoskins, which didnt do well in the Box Office, then again when you're released weeks before James Cameron's Avatar, you can't expect much, then there was their literal last film, 2011's Mars Needs Moms, an Extremely terrible movie all together, because go the films were so lackluster, Disney ended the partnership with Zemeckis, and that was the end of the Yellow Submerine, you can find Concept art online, but trust me, it's creepy.

2) Phineas and Ferb:

I know what you're going to say, "Xander, there's already a Phineas and Ferb movie!" I'm aware of that but I'm not talking about the 2011 TV movie, "Across the 2nd Dimension," I'm talking about a full theatrical film. It was going to be about Phineas and Ferb entering the real world, originally supposed to be done with Live Actors but then was Switched out for their animated selves, similar to Roger Rabbit. The film was slated for a July 2013 release, taking over Thor: The Dark World's original release date. It was then pushed to an unknown 2014 date until Disney took it off Scheduale. The Co-Creator of the show, Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, awesome middle name BTW, stated it was in development hell. A form of a script was completed in 2015 after the series the movie is based on ended. I highly doubt we will see this happening anytime soon as the creators are busy working on their newer show, "Milo Murphy's Law," with a Scheduale crossover of both shows premiering next year.

Honorable Mentions:

Marvel's Inhumans:

This was actually intended to be another movie in the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, originally set to release after Infinity War. But was scrapped a couple of years ago. However it made a resurgence as a TV show which premiered weeks ago on ABC, by the way, DON'T WATCH IT, IT'S REALLY BAD! Don't believe me look:

Probably a good thing it was put on Broadcast TV, it would've been a major gamble to put it on Netflix or Hulu or Amazon.

Dumbo 2:

This is actually a weird one because they made a trailer for it.

It was scrapped due to change in leadership, but it is for the best because, Disney's straight to DVD sequels aren't know for their quality, but are watchable compared to Sony's excuse for animated DVD movies....I hate you Open Season 2-4 and Surfs Up 2.

Roger Rabbit 2:

This is one of those films that goes in and out all the time because it can never find a good plot for it, I got an idea, but its incredibly stupid, so I'll tell yah because I highly doubt Disney would make it, it would be about Roger Rabbit, in modern times, like it would have some modern characters from recent memory like the Simpsons, Spongebob, all of Hanna-Barbera, and Both Versions of Ducktales. It sounds so stupid so Disney won't take that idea. Honestly by the Time Disney makes a Roger Rabbit 2 he would fade into Obscurity.

1) The Search for Mickey Mouse:

Great now that song is stuck in my head, I originally found out about this from YouTuber BlameItOnJorge, this film was as followed, well according to The Lost Media Wiki:

The film is said to surround Mickey who gets "Mouse-Knapped", and Minnie Mouse hires Basil of Baker Street (from the 1986 animated film The Great Mouse Detective) to help find him. Now Minnie, Basil, Donald Duck, and Goofy have to travel the globe to find Mickey and in a Who Framed Roger Rabbit manner, single-handedly encounter one character from every Disney Animated Movie to exist at the time. Several of those characters would include Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, and Peter Pan.

The film was supposed to come out 2002, in time for Mickey's 75th Anniversary, but Disney scrapped it fmdue to Writing issues, it later resurfaced planning on being the 50th Disney Animated Feature, but that was given to 2010's Tangled, which thankfully made a ton of money because it is the most Expensive Animated movie of all time, in 2012 the film was Scrapped permanently, now this film could resurface in the future but who knows, also since 2002 Disney's library extended with Lilo and Stitch, Bolt, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6, Frozen, Zootopia, and Moana, I know I missed a few but this list is long enough.

I was originally think of doing this again. But this was a pain in the ads to do, if you want more scrapped Disney movies, I recommend you check out Wattpad user rewrite who post a lot about Scrapped Disney Projects, go check them out. Also, no I did not steal from them, I did my own research for these list along side I have known of these for a while, who am I Shia LaBeouf.

You all had that coming and you know it.

So tell me, is there a scrapped Disney movie I missed? Tell me in the comments.
