Chapter Seven

Eleanor

I already downed a couple of drinks and was feeling the buzzing effect of it. I also felt much more lightheaded and hype was radiating off of me causing me to be more giggly and giddy, so I guess it was safe to say that I was pretty tipsy. Not that I wasn't planning to, I mean I was in Taylor's party for pete's sake! Although I still didn't know why she threw a party in England, not everyone gets the chance, I was just making the most out of it.

I continued swaying my hips to the rhythm of the music that was currently blaring off the speakers, my arms linked loosely around Louis' shoulders while his hands were on my sides, gripping my hips. I felt eyes watching me and I see Louis glaring towards something behind me but I was drunk enough not to care. And besides, he was doing that pretty much to everyone who dared lower their gazes on my chest or farther down my behind. His grip on my hips tightened then he tugged me closer to his chest. I giggled for no particular reason and tightened my arms on his shoulder just because I could. Then I quickly turned around so that my back was on Louis' front but I kept my arms on his neck, still swaying my hips. I didn't mind dancing with him this way, he had become a close friend anyway so I believed he wouldn't try on something with me.

As I danced with my back on Louis, I heard a very familiar obnoxious laugh from our left side. When I turned my head towards that direction, I saw Niall dancing with some blonde petite girl while holding a taco in his hand. Really, Niall?

Then not too far from him, I spotted two other familiar faces. Liam was dancing with his girlfriend, Danielle that apparently became a friend of mine, too.

"Heeeey guys!" I cheered happily as I tugged Louis closer to them. They all snapped their heads towards our direction. And by 'they', I mean them and a few random people. The three of them looked shocked as they saw me but quickly recovered. I was drunk enough to shrug it off.

"Hey Eleanor, didn't know you were coming!" Niall nervously said.

"Eh, it's Taylor's party, who wouldn't want to come?" I replied nonchalantly. What was with people always expecting me not to come? Well yeah, because I wasn't invited.

"Ofcourse, I almost forgot you're a fan!" Liam yelled over the music.

"Who isn't?" I replied, starting to dance again when I realized I looked ridiculous just standing in the midst of the dancing crowd while talking to people.

Louis scoffed, "I'm not." I stuck my tongue out at him like the mature people we were and then turned to Niall.

"Really, Niall? Taco while partying?" I asked him. The blonde girl laughed indicating she didn't really mind and Niall just shrugged and even took a bite. I rolled my eyes.

"So where's Perrie?" I asked while scanning the crowd, in case I just missed her face among them.

"Sitting by the bar. You know Zayn hates dancing and wouldn't let Perrie go anywhere without him." Danielle rolled her eyes and I laughed. "Like, just date already!" she exclaimed.

"How about... Harry?" I grimaced slightly, hoping they wouldn't catch any tone in my voice other than casual when really, that was what I wanted to ask in the first place.

All four of them stiffened, including Louis and they all didn't say anything for a while. I just patiently waited so I wouldn't look as eager as I was.

"Flirting somewhere," Louis vaguely answered. "As always." he added.

I just nodded and ignored the pang I felt. I mean, should I be surprised?

I started jumping around and yelling the current song on the top of my lungs. Niall just watched me while shaking his head and Danielle and Liam watched in amusement. Louis started laughing and it was contagious that I couldn't suppress mine. Soon, I was in hysterics but that didn't stop me from dancing.

"You're crazy, you know that, right?" Louis whispered at my ear then pulled away.

It was my turn to lean closer to his ear, "Yeah, but you love me." I winked.

I expected a 'you wish' or a sarcastic 'sure, sure.' or any plain sass but nothing came. He just smiled his odd smile that I was getting accustomed to lately. Then again, I shrugged it off.

Playfully, I raised Louis' hand and twirled myself around. As I turned, my eyes suddenly met the green ones I'd been longing to see all night from across the room.

And again, I was struck on how eyes could be so beautiful, just like the first time I laid mine on those.

**

After asking an employee named Toby to tell me everything I need to know about my part of work and telling me to come back the next day, my new boss in the new job I just got in, left in a haste.

The bakery where I would be working in the next day was beautiful. It had few tables scattered here and there to accomodate few people. Smell of coffee and pastry stretched throughout the building that was painted in faded brown that added to it's homey feeling, then I immediately fell inlove with the place.

I thanked Toby and asked him if I could wander around and familiarize myself with the place. He agreed and then left to continue his work while uttering words about someone being late while walking away.

I walked towards the racks and scanned the pastries for sale. I was busy drooling over a bread when someone spoke. It startled me that I almost threw the bread up in the air.

"What could I possibly get someone so pretty like you?"

I turned to look at the person. He was wearing a maroon apron above a white collared shirt and black skin tight pair of pants were hugging his lean legs. He was also wearing a red bandana on his head to pull his long curly hair from his face. I immediately recognized his clothing-- the same uniform I'd be wearing the next day.

But what struck me most was at that moment, my eyes met a pair of forest green eyes so beautiful, it left me wondering what secrets it hid behind.

**

Through my slightly drunken state, I could see him facing our direction, talking to some people but yet to lock eyes with me. My heart raced on the sight of him for the first time tonight. He looked so beautiful-- his features being illuminated by the neon lights that was dancing inside the club.

Suddenly, a smile appeared on his face that turned into a grin-- his teeth showing ang his dimple indenting. I couldn't suppress my own smile. Seeing him so.... genuinely happy made my heart swell. It had been ages since I saw him smile, since the only reaction I always got lately was either a smirk or emotionless. Then I was reminded on how I fell inlove with that smile.

**

"Uh, no thanks. I actually work here." I politely declined.

"You work here," he repeated that sounded more like a question as he eyed me weirdly.

"I mean I will be." I corrected.

His face brightened as soon as I said that. "You're gonna work here?" he asked then I nodded. "Want me to show you around?" he smirked.

I shook my head, "Toby already did."

He frowned then faced the kitchen's direction where Toby was. "Cunning little b*stard." he uttered under his breath.

As if on cue, Toby walked out of the kitchen and stomped his way towards us with a rather angry look. His backpack was slinged on one of his shoulders and he already changed into his normal clothes-- looked like his shift already ended.

"For the hundredth time, Styles, come over on time! I always have to cover for your work that, let me remind you, I'm not being paid for!" he ranted.

"Oh come on, like I didn't do you a favor this time!.You get to meet this pretty lady over here earlier than I do!" he playfully shot back at him.

"Well maybe, just maybe, if you came in just a little earlier than you did, you would've met her sooner! Know what? Whatever, man. I gotta go. See you tomorrow, Eleanor." he turned to me and I waved a little before he turned back to this guy beside me, looking exasperated. "For the love of God, Harry. Just come over on time." he said one last time while rolling his eyes. With that, he left.

"Oh, someone's puctual. I see." I teased.

Harry smirked, "Shut up."

My gaze fell outside through the glass window where I noticed it was starting to get dark. "I should probably go."

"Yeah. As much as I wanted to hang out, it's not safe for someone pretty to be out at an hour like this." he winked.

I scoffed playfully, "Stop flattering me."

"Oh I'm actually talking about myself." he said coolly.

"Of course." I laughed. "Nice talking to you, Harry."

He squinted his eyes, "You already know my name? Smooth move, love." he smirked.

Then I laughed. Hard. Poor guy just eyed me weirdly.

"Dude, you do realize that you have a name tag on, right?" I said inbetween laughs.

He flushed before scratching his neck, looking adorable.

"A'ight, a'ight. I'll stop before you turn crimson red. See you tomorrow, yeah?" I said, still grinning.

He smirked then again, "Definitely."

"I'm expecting you on time, Harry." I said as I started walking towards the entrance but then he spoke one last time, causing me to look back at him over my shoulder.

"Just for you, Eleanor." he said before flashing me his first real smile. I almost gasped on how beautiful he was- dimple indenting while showing his perfect set of teeth. His smile seemed to brighten the shade of his eyes a few shades making my heart flutter. Then, I knew right then and there, that that smile was the brightest I'd ever seen my entire life and the smile I ever adored.

**

He looked like he bid his company goodbye cause he nodded his head to every person and did little waves before he took off the table. He walked over a dark little corner where the neon lights couldn't reach so I could hardly see him. He walked towards some girl I couldn't make out who and put his arms around her waist. I almost rolled my eyes.

Of course. It wouldn't be a party if he hadn't flirted with some girl. He probably knew I was watching him.

Jealousy boiled within me but I tried to ignore it. I didn't even notice that I stopped dancing and was just standing amidst the crowd, watching him. Everyone around me disappeared as I watched his every move. He leaned closer to the girl's ear and whispered something I couldn't make out. I couldn't see her reaction as she was facing the other side and the dark helped concealing her features.

I reminded myself that this was just another random girl. After tonight, she would be another nobody. Just like the others. I just needed to grow up and endure situations like this cause I knew it would happen often. It was a consequence of loving the Harry Styles.

And the Harry Styles didn't do relationships.

This should give me a reason to laugh at all those girls he had and would be hooking up with for they wouldn't really be someone as far as his life was concerned.

But I couldn't. He didn't do relationships, and I wasn't an exception. And that was all I ever wanted. I didn't want to be just some girl. I wanted to be the girl. His girl.

**

It was the day. I was jumpy and a little bit giddy the whole time for it was the day. My first day on work.

I almost brisk-walked towards the entrance that had 'PUSH' and 'Come in we're open' signs. I inhaled deeply, collecting myself before opening the glass door open with grace. Or so I hoped.

I almost screamed when I was met by green eyes the second I looked to the side.

"Jeez, do you plan on killing me?" I asked while clutching my chest where I could feel my heart rapidly beating.

I didn't know if it was because I was startled or it was his green eyes alone that made my heart race. Maybe both.

"Kill you? Oh Eleanor, I have better plans in mind." he smirked. "Ditched everything so I could arrive on time, what's in it for me?" he asked.

"Ooh, is mumma mad her baby boy didn't kiss her goodbye?" I teased.

He leaned in to whisper on my ear. "Oh you mean that hot chick that moaned my name last night?"

I gulped. Did he just?

He fell into fits of laughter after seeing my face. "You- you should've seen your face! It was priceless!"

I just frowned.

"Hey, wanna grab a coffee after shift? It's on me." he nudged me by the shoulder.

I beamed then nodded before I remembered something, quickly wiping the smile off my face. "I mean I don't know, I don't want to c*ckblock. Your hot chick girlfriend must be waiting for you tonight."

He blankly looked at me before smirking, "Who said anything about a girlfriend?"

**

"Starbucks, really? Such a brat." Harry teased me while pushing the glass door open.

Our shift was over and he reminded me about coffee and I told him I knew the perfect place. Thus, ending up here.

"Hey, you offered!" I shot back. "Plus, Starbucks is gold."

"Yeah whatever. What will you get?" he asked while lining up infront of the counter.

"White chocolate frappuccino without whip cream."

"What?! What's a frappe without whip cream?!"

"Still a frappe." I smugly said. He just glared at me.

After getting our orders, we sat on a booth and talked. Well, before some blonde haired girl whose clothing lacked fabric walked over and surprised us by sitting on Harry's lap.

"Hey babe." she purred before kissing him sloppily. Infront of me.

I almost gagged. Seriously?

"Hey... what are you doing here?" Harry asked her while glancing at me and giving me a guilty smile.

"You left . I thought we'd do some more... fun." she said before her gaze fell on me.

Finally my presence was acknowledge.

She scanned me from well, chest to head, since my other half was covered by the table. I cocked an eyebrow. If she was trying to intimidate me, then she was failing miserably.

"I had to go to work." he replied.

"How about later?" she suggested.

"Yeah, I'll think about it." he replied.

She leaned closer to his ear and whispered, which was loud enough for me to hear by the way, "I'll be waiting. On my bed." then she nibbled on his earlobe. She finally stood up and gave me one last smug look before walking away.

"That's your girlfriend?" I asked.

He shook his head, "I told you, I don't do girlfriend stuffs," he chuckled, "Can't even remember her name."

**

Harry and the girl walked out of the corner and over the DJ. From my sight, all I could make out of her was that she had a familiar blonde hair and since Harry's lanky figure was towering over her, her face and most of her body was covered from my view. The music was stopped and all I could hear was the loud beating of my heart. My vision was briefly blurred when the lights was suddenly turned on. As I refocus my eyes on the two person who was now standing above the DJ's platform, my eyes almost fell out of its sockets.

The girl beside Harry with the familiar blonde hair. The girl he was with in the dark corner earlier. The girl he was flirting with for tonight. The random girl.

My eyes were flickering between her and him out of pure confusion. What the heck is happening?!

I barely felt Louis holding my hand as if supporting me so I tightened my hold on him for leverage, just in case, without tearing my eyes away from Harry and her.

Taylor f*cking Swift.

I was thinking about how he could do that to her. He couldn't just make her feel special one day then make her feel like she's nobody the next. But as a mic was handed to him and he glanced at her before smiling, I felt my heart clench.

He didn't smirk at her like she was a random girl he was flirting with for the night. He smiled at her like she was so beautiful. He smiled at her like she made him f*cking happy. He smiled at her.

Like he was f*cking inlove.

My eyes were prickling with tears as he started to speak. "In behalf of this pretty lady beside me, I thank all of you for coming tonight. As you all know, this is in celebration of the success of her latest album and world tour..." he trailed off and scanned the crowd with that stupid smile until his gaze fell on me. He looked terrified like everyone did when they saw me here tonight.

I couldn't help but feel something coming. Like a ticking bomb that was about to explode. Why is everbody f*cking shocked to see me tonight? Is there something I shouldn't see here?

"El, let's- would you- f*ck! Just come with me." Louis agitatedly whispered beside me but my feet wouldn't budge. It seemed like it was planted on the ground and I couldn't walk away.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

"Let's get out of here, El. Please." he coaxed further. But my ears were drowning his voice out. I couldn't tear my eyes off of Harry and the look on his face was now replaced with remorse. Not a frown, not an emotionless look. Remorse.

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

"Love, listen to me. Let's just get out here." Louis said but his voice just mixed with other noises as I felt him tugging me.

Harry looked away and continued his speech, "But the main reason of this party, well, the main reason I threw this party for her is to let you all know..."

Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.

"Eleanor-" Louis kept tugging me and I finally obliged. But as I was convinced that I shouldn't hear whatever Harry was about to say, I did. Before I could even turn around, the words I never expected him to say rolled out of his lips. All other noises drowned out and all I could hear was the silent breaking of my heart and his beautiful voice.

Tick.

"Taylor and I are dating."

And the bomb that was my heart exploded.
