Chapter One
"The best fighter is never angry."
-Lao Tzu
TREPIDATION
(wrath)
The first four days at the Renshaw house went smoothly, and honestly it was a nice break for Will. He rather enjoyed not being in constant turmoil but it was still a little jarring to be safe all the time, a little annoying to acknowledge it -having told Bella just that.
He was still waiting for his mental warning bells to go off, to find something wrong, for the other shoe to drop, waiting for the big reveal of them being terrible people. It wasn't fair to them- -especially not Grace and Lyra- -for him to assume that they're bad in this way but Will couldn't help it.
Some people choose to remember and recognize the version of others that hold the most power over them, no matter how long it's been or how much others have changed.
And that's why to Will, at first, every foster parent is the same.
It is so easy for Will to be angry, and so easy for him to be angry now -rather, want to be angry. His mind has always demanded that he act first and figure it out later, but life often didn't even give him that opportunity.
In the past it's been pathetically easy to turn people into monsters and blame them for his own flaws with everything he has, saying, "You did this! You let this happen! You hurt me! You liked it!"
Will knows this about himself.
But it has also been even easier to make himself the monster, scar himself over the blame, to sneer and hide away, and create memories for himself that know how to cut.
It's easy to bare his teeth and tell someone to fuck off, to push them away. It's harder to be honest and admit that nobody is as bad as he always says. Even himself.
He didn't want to be like that anymore.
So Will is trying; trying to be a good pretend son for them, trying to show Bella and her friends that they didn't make the wrong decision, show that he's capable of doing good, of being good. A part of him was more scared to mess up with the Renshaw's than he was with any other foster parent he's had -because if he does mess up, he won't be disappointing just a random person, he'll be disappointing Bella too.
She's been far too kind for him to do that.
He doesn't want her to leave too.
For the most part, Will tries not to be loud, and tries not to ask for things either. The only thing (other than pajamas) he told his foster mothers he'd be okay with them buying when they asked had been a new phone charger.
They've let him keep in touch with Alex, and he's been able to talk on the phone with him for hours already. Alex is currently placed in a Boy's Home a town over, a good one run by a sweet old man who apparently was in the system too.
He's going to age out in September, which is less than two months away, and together they've saved up enough to rent an apartment for him. Meanwhile Will won't be eighteen until next May.
Alex plans to live by Will until he ages out too, but Will has always felt a little guilty that he's keeping his best friend stuck in place. To which he always gets the reply, "I'd do anything for you. I'm not stuck, it's a choice."
That always makes him scoff, no matter how much he appreciates it.
They plan to meet up sometime next week, Alex already having permission but Will has been too nervous to ask for it, so instead he quietly goes through the routine that's slowly starting to be established at the Renshaw's:
Wake up, eat the breakfast that Grace cooks, help Lyra wash the dishes while Clement showers and then either finds a book to read, or plays any game that Clement wants and does miscellaneous things. Every day this week he's been too scared to do anything else, so he's had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. Then Lyra cooks dinner and Will showers while Clement helps Grace with dishes. After dinner it's either game night, movie night or just 'do whatever you want' night.
Today is actually the first time that Will agreed with Clement's pleas of going out with him to meet up with his friends- -he still really wants him to join the soccer team, and is thoroughly convinced he's an offense player instead of defense- -and as much as his claims that they'd be playing a calm soccer game by the end of the day was enticing, it was his nagging that broke Will first.
Not to mention that Will doubts that it's possible that Clement could play a calm game of anything in his entire life, he even gets overly competitive over Chutes and Ladders.
Lyra was right to warn him about her son's 'loudness' but it wasn't just his voice that was loud, it was his presence. He demands to be seen from the moment he steps into a room, and Will's not even sure if the other boy's aware that he's like that.
Clement's a force to be reckoned with, honestly.
Will is seated on the cool leather passenger seat of the Renshaw's Jeep- -he's not sure if it's Clement's or the family's, but the brunet is the one that drives it the most either way- -and everything is so loud.
The windows are down, sending the cool summer air smacking against his face and Clement's phone is connected to the aux blasting a wild mix of songs that range everywhere from Modern Pop to Indie to Classical Rock and soft Jazz.
Clement enjoyed them all the same and has looked over, taking his attention from the road, to shout "This is my favorite!" at Will and turned it up enough that he's lost count of the amount of times it's happened. He was a good driver, which was a little surprising to Will, who thought the hyperactive boy would probably be just as chaotic on the road as he is with everything else he does.
Instead he's overly attentive and doesn't even brake hard.
It wasn't long before they arrived at the park, a common group hang-out from the sounds of it, and parked right on the grass. Clement seemed casual enough doing so that Will didn't ponder for too long if it was actually allowed (willingly breaking the rules is something that he never grew comfortable with).
"Okay, so here's the breakdown-" Saying this, the unruly teenage boy beside him opens the door, slams it and walks around while still talking, so Will misses whatever he says next until he arrives on his side of the Jeep to motion for him to follow.
He scrambles for the door handle.
"-we have me, 'n I'm awesome, so don't stress t'much about me. Second we have Minnie, Minerva Mackey, she's awesome too but less awesome than me, she can be pretty strict at times but she's still fun. You don't really have to be cautious with her." Clement glances back only briefly to make sure he's actually being followed, talking the whole time as he briskly walks to wherever his friends are.
All Will could think is he couldn't explain this in the car?
"Next you have Jude and Demi, they're identical twins and the only difference 'tween them is that Jude is a little bit taller -and they're both tall. Like tall-tall. I'm tall, yeah, mhm, but they're taller." Given as Clement is half a head taller than Will himself, the redhead isn't all together pleased by hearing this. "Actually, I think Mine' might be taller than you too. 'M not sure though. With Demi, say and do whatever you want, but maybe, I don't know, be a little more aware around Jude. He can be harsh."
Will's nose wrinkles. "Are they all nice?"
Another glance down is followed by an amused snort. "Oh absolutely not, they're not, nah. Demi's the nicest but then again he grew up being humbled by Jude, so it's no surprise. I'd say you'd probably get along best with Demi, he's got anxiety too."
That's... great.
Will loves being summed up by his mental illness.
"Oh bu' they're not mean either!" Rushing this out, it's clear that Clement saw the worry festering in Will, because he fully turns and stops them from walking; one of his clear indicators that he not only thinks what he's saying is important but also requires whoever he's talking to to pay the most attention. "We're teenagers, we're jackasses, but they're all kind. Sarcastic weird bags'a flesh, but kind. Mom told me that there's a difference between being nice and being kind. They're that difference."
However much he agrees with the nice versus kind thing, Will doesn't care if they're actually nice or not -he never wants to hear a human referred to as a 'weird bag of flesh' again in his life.
-&-
The park is huge and it takes the two boys five minutes just to walk to where the group is meeting up but when they get there- -to an area where there's four different soccer fields side by side, looking like it's used for games for the township- -Will sees why Clement was walking so fast.
His friends are already there.
Sitting on a soccer ball in the middle of the closest field, is a boy with blonde hair sticking out from under a hat who's just flicking through his phone. He looks casual, sitting there in nothing but a tank top and shorts but Will still gets the impression that he's a bit annoyed.
It's clear that he's athletic, from the moment that Will saw him, he could tell how fit he was and his tan proves that he's outside often enough for it to be true. One of his cleats is tapping away at the ground, ankle wiggling in place as he listens to the shouting further down the pitch.
In the goal post is a girl with a bun made of kinky curls pulled neatly to the back of her head, sweat lining her forehead and hands moving animatedly. She's got dark skin and with the shorts she has on, Will can see a tattoo twisting around the stretch marks on her thigh.
An equally as sweaty boy who is indeed quite tall, is talking just as aggressively right back to the girl, tank top clinging to his skin and he has the same kind of blond hair in a wild mess on top of his head, looking like someone wet it, ruffled it all around and he let it dry that way (or at least that's what it seems like from all the cowlicks Will can see from the back).
The two that he can see- -the girl he knows is Minerva but he has no clue which twin is which, however he's willing to assume the one sitting away from an argument has anxiety, and therefore is Demi- -are gorgeous people.
Demi- -he thinks- -is handsome with a sharp jawline and strong nose, and Minerva is a beautiful girl with high cheekbones and full lips. The entire group of friends are model-worthy, even Clement, and that says a lot given the amount of improper things Will has seen him do (and ingest) over the previous four days.
And if Demi and Jude are as identical as Clement claims, Jude's just as handsome.
Will feels really out of place right now.
Clement doesn't even get to open his mouth or announce himself before the boy on the ball (Demi) notices him, somehow, and cheers out a "Clem! Thank god you're here!" and stands off the ball in a swift motion, clasping the brunet on the back with a half-hug.
He doesn't seem to notice Will at all and he's grateful for it, and also grateful that Clement's presence could be a constant distraction from himself. Will would rather observe them for just a few moments longer before interacting with them all.
"Wha's goin' on? Why's Mine' tryna kill Jude? Wait-" Clement, without even letting Demi get out any sort of explanation, kicks the soccer ball at the other two as hard as he can (it shoots into the goal, between their faces but they must be used to all his antics because neither flinch), and shouts "I wanna help her!" before following after the ball to, apparently, kill one of his friends.
Demi only sighs and stares after him for a second, pocketing his phone in favor of placing his hands on his hips and shakes his head, the action making him take note of Will's frame in the corner of his vision. The boy starts, pauses, and then raises a hand in greeting.
"Sup."
Will looks up to him- -he's a whole head taller than him and that's a good eight inches, an inch or two under six and a half feet tall, and if he's the short one, Will is almost scared to meet his twin- -and raises his hand awkwardly right back.
"Hi."
Overcoming his shyness nearly instantly, the blond sticks out his hand with a pleasant smile. "I'm Demi Storme, and I'm also pretty sure you're William... um, oh! William Nile, right?"
Will's actually surprised that he knows him by his proper name instead of just 'Willy', what Clement has called him from the start, and nods so Demi both knows he's right and gets the signal to continue.
He does so with a grin. "Clem's told me all about you. He was pretty excited when he learned that you'd be moving in. Literally stayed up all night talking about you, he thought it was weird you don't sing in the shower."
"Oh er, yeah he's told me that before. I've heard about you too -he talks a lot about all of you. Do you really have a ferret named Morrie?" Talking about each other seems to be a good way that they're getting along, due to the equal amount that Clement's talked to them lately, it's easy.
Clement's the glue between them all and he doesn't even know it.
"Yeah, he's insane though." Demi explains with a breathy laugh and a half-shrug. "You should meet him."
And just like that, with unexpected ease, he's further invited into the lives of this group.
Will doesn't know how to respond to that.
"C'mere, Willy!" Clement shouts, causing both the boys to look up expectantly and find him waving them over, thumb pointed back to Minerva and Jude -who are still arguing. When they reach him, Clement has a lazy, relaxed look on his face. "Told ya' you'd get 'long with Demi!"
Jude, who upon inspection is a copy and paste version of Demi- -even wearing the same style of clothes sans the hat- -as his brown eyes are the same, his spikey blond hair is the same shade and even their faces look eerily similar, looks down at Will with a raised eyebrow.
"You're short." He says.
Clement wrinkles his nose at his best friend but before he can reprimand him, Minerva slaps the back of Jude's head with a loud smack! that nearly makes Will flinch. "Be polite, or I swear I'll bench you in our first game."
"You can't do that!" Jude gasps, turning to her with a glare. "You need me-"
Demi adds on: "He's one of two wingers-"
"We come as a pair!"
"Honestly, Minnie, you'd have to bench me too!"
"And in what world would that be fair?"
Both Minerva and Will look between the twins, her with annoyance and him with confusion- -he didn't think Clement meant they literally finish each other's sentences- -but Clement bursts into laughter, catching the twins around the shoulders.
Shooting her a smirk, he says, "You couldn't bench them even if ya' wanted to, you don't have nuff players, Mine'."
"I'd make an exception." She replies, a deadly glare in her hazel eyes but that look halts in place of an amused gaze as she notices the way Will is standing there, trying to take up as little space as possible and huddling in on himself. "Damn, you're quiet."
"He's anxious." Clement supplies, and Will shoots him a betrayed look that makes his mouth bunch up in a sheepish expression. "Sorry 'm used to just explaining."
Will nods. "It's okay, I get it." He told him about Demi's anxiety less than an hour ago, so it was really no surprise when this came out of his mouth too.
"We're all very open with all that." Minerva explains, a half-smile on her face as she tries to stay polite.
Both Clement and Demi scoff and, at the same time, say, "Not Jude."
Jude throws a hand in the air with a faux angry huff. "Fuck you both."
As the twins begin to bicker, their best friend edging them on in a way that Will doubts either notices, Minerva looks back to him and grins. "If you can put up with this, I promise that you'll fit right in."
"I hope so." Will says, watching as Jude shoves Clement into his brother who retaliates by shoving Clement right back into Jude, Clement giggling like a mad-man the entire time.
Watching them interact with one another is pretty interesting, because there's clearly different units in the group but they all are close anyway.
Minnie and Clement are the closest to each other (and have separately been friends without the twins the longest), so are Demi and Jude but for completely different reasons -it seems to Will like every time Jude takes a breath in, Demi is the one that breathes it out.
Then when it comes to competitiveness and game play, Minnie and Jude are at each other's throats and constantly bickering with one another while Clement jokes the whole time and Demi lets just about anything slide unless it's his brother getting on his nerves.
All in all, they're a close knit group and it makes William feel like he's invading in a way.
Or rather, he very temporarily feels like he's invading because the moment one of them (normally Clement or Demi) notices that he's been too quiet for too long, or isn't involved in something that they're all doing, they immediately reel him in and he finds himself giddily participating in their mini-soccer games.
Clement pouted for hours after finding out that he was not, in fact, a striker.
-&-
It was taco night at the Renshaw house and everyone was in a good mood, which was normal as they all are typically in a good mood but tonight it was past serenity and into joy; Grace and Lyra had went on a much-needed date earlier in the day and were feeling blushy, Clement was Clement and it didn't take much to get him like this so tonight it was due to beating both the Storme twins at ping pong before they left that afternoon.
Will was trying to psych himself up into asking his foster mothers to meet up with Alex, he had been for days but after they let him go out with Clement to meet his friends, showing they were okay with not having him under their thumbs, Will realized that they'd probably be okay with him asking.
Something in him just wouldn't let him open his mouth and ask, just smile politely, and ask Lyra to pass the sour cream and watch helplessly as his body doesn't obey him.
Clement, who is getting scarily good at reading Will's body language seems to pick up on his internal unease before the redhead is even done with his first taco. He stalls the conversation he's having with his mothers about soccer practice and how he's getting a little better at public speaking and begins to stare down the redhead with a twist in the corner of his mouth.
Sharing a look, Grace and Lyra ignore it and begin a different conversation about where they'd want to go out to eat next, and if they would want it to be a date or a family outing -neither of which apply to Will but he doesn't want to meet Clement's eye or answer any of his questions, so he tunes into their conversation anyway.
"It's down from Evans." Lyra answers her wife. "We've been there before, it's the cute little French place that served the-"
Grace interrupts with a little noise of celebration. "Oh! The good French onion soup!"
Listening to grown-ups talk about soup was only a little bit worse than ignoring Clement, who is now frowning at Will and there's a look in his blue eyes that screams please talk to me. It's like trying to ignore a puppy-
It's impossible.
Turning to Clement, Will doesn't even get to say anything before he picks up that he's finally getting attention and asks "What's up with you?" as his fingers wrap around Will's forearm, leaning over his plate like getting a better look at him would magically let him know.
"You're -stop that." Will huffs, pulling his arm away from Clement, who began thrumming along it like it was a piano. "I'm fine, you're just too observant."
Making a face, Clement looks between the table and Will for a second before his blue eyes finally settle on the redhead's face. "The fact that I'm able to observe something, means that it's there. You can talk to me about it, you know." In a split second, his seriousness trades out for his typical set of emotions (joy, excitement and cockiness), and he turns up to his moms. "Can we go out for the night?"
Grace pauses and shares a look with Lyra, who shrugs. "What would you do?"
"Something fun." He says, and then, "We might be gone longer than just tonight."
"Oh?" Lyra raises an eyebrow, but doesn't look particularly concerned. "And did you already consult Will on if he wanted to do this or not? Or are you just assuming that he'd be okay with this?"
"'Course I did!" Clement lies through his teeth, a megawatt smile on his face and the hand next to his own moves to Will's shoulder, giving it a squeeze. "What do ya' take me for -a non-consensual nuisance? Willy's more than happy ta' get away for t'night. We've got quite the list of things to go over -new friends 'n all. Everyone, even Minnie, is coming!"
Minerva, from Will has gathered, has quite the controlling father so it's not common that she gets to go out at random like this without at least a few days warning in advance. He's part of the local law enforcement, but Will has no idea what his status is.
So for now, he's just going to assume this was just to make the lie more believable.
Lyra looks down to Will next, who is entirely unprepared for the confrontation and still hasn't decided if he's going to continue on with the lie in efforts not to get Clement in trouble, or just admit what's really going on, despite not wanting them to know he's emotionally constipated on any level.
"And what do you think about this, Will?"
It was an open-ended question and something that he was a bit overly grateful for. "I'm, er," His nose wrinkles. "I'm okay with it."
"See?" Clement exclaims. "I told you!"
"Alright." Grace sighs, leaning back in her chair. "But you both better update me when you get to where you're going, and Will please let me know how you are at least every six hours. If you go anywhere without reception, it better only be a five hour trip."
"Well it migh' be an all night trip that turns into a half day trip tomorrow, but we won't go anywhere without reception, for the sake'a old Willy over here." Saying this, Clement pushes himself away from the table. "Just realized we're gonna be late so we should go. C'mon Willy, we gotta get a move on!"
Will doesn't get much of a chance to help himself out of the chair, or really agree in the first place, because Clement's hands are sliding under his arms and lifting him, the taller boy's feet kicking the dining room chair away from them as he starts to drag him towards the stairs.
"Sorry for the dishes, I'm, I'll... I'll do extra tomorrow!" He shouts, trying to let the Renshaw mothers know he doesn't intend to slack off. Because of Clement's insistent hands, he doesn't hear their response if they give one, and is instead forced to stumble into Clement's room.
He doesn't say anything as the brunet bounces down onto his bed, fishing for the charger plugged into the wall beside it.
Will has been in here before, but every time it looks a little different -like Clement can't decide what to do with it. The last time he saw it, all the blankets were piled in front of his closet as if he had slept on the floor and the desk was a messy array of things that Will assumed was back to school papers, or some things for soccer, and his hamper was overflowing.
Now his bed looked like he threw his comforter over all his other blankets and called it 'neat' and his hamper was empty, the papers and folders were messily strew around the floor near the foot of his bed as if he had sat down to do work, the desk perfectly clean but at least three of his dresser drawers are still open from when he got dressed this morning.
"Like what you see?" Clement calls from the bed, grinning over to Will. "My room's awesome, I know."
He's not... wrong.
His room has paintings of Greek myths all over the walls, sketches of them too, wall to wall. He has a giant solar system on the ceiling that looks like it was put there when he was little, but beside the stick-on stars are small paintings of actual constellations using them as references.
The room is very him, painted a bright blue, and the ebony wood floors are covered by ever-changing blue and red tie-dye rug placements. There's two regular windows with two panes, and a bigger bay window that was big enough that three or four people could fit there comfortably.
Of all the rooms in the house, other than perhaps the living room on movie nights and the playroom downstairs, his room was the most inviting.
Will just didn't like that he was right.
So he huffs at Clement and crosses his arms. "I mainly like your paintings."
Clement grins. "Thanks. Jude made them."
Not having known either of the twins longer than three days at this point, Will didn't feel like he had a right to feel as surprised as he was. "He can paint?"
"He can do a lot more than that." Answering this with a chuckle, it's clear that Clement doesn't take offense to Will's surprise. "Jude can paint, draw, sketch, he can do watercolor and acrylic, he can sculpt and make cute little things out of clay, he can even carve wood and do a bunch of stuff with charcoal. One of the most talented assholes I've ever met, and he'll never say a word about it to anyone unless they ask."
Marveling at a four foot painting of Medusa, her lower half fading and twisting into Athena, Will barely spares a glance back at Clement. "Did you -did you ask him to, to make these?"
"I'm just one of the friends who takes all the paintings he'll throw away, the one with the most room, I guess. Minnie's dad would probably throw them away, and I doubt the twin's parents even know how capable Jude is."
Will raises an eyebrow. "Why not?"
"Their dad's all 'you gotta make varsity, you gotta get a soccer scholarship, you gotta go to the college I want, you gotta be the best at soccer', so anything else that's Jude or, even Demi likes, gets brushed aside." He explains with an unhappy twinge in the corner of his mouth and a crease between his eyebrows. "So why would Jude share something like that, when all his dad would say was that it wasn't enough?"
Will didn't have a good answer for that.
-&-
Currently, Clement is sitting in the front seat of the Storme twins' shared hatchback, it was blue and almost could be considered an old vehicle, if Will cared about that kind of thing. He gets to drive because he's the safest driver out of the group and without even questioning Minerva hopped in the front seat -if any of them thought it was a little weird the ones who owned the car were confined to the backseat, nobody said anything.
At first Will was stuck between the twins, but when Jude wouldn't stop reaching past him to poke at Demi, causing Demi to start smacking him back, Minerva looked back and snapped, "If you two don't fucking stop, I'm going to pull the wheel! Now cut it out!"
"Hey." Jude mumbles, fingers gripping the slope of his shoulder, leaning in so his face is slotted against Will's. That's something he's learned as well -while Clement is god awful terrible at verbal boundaries, Jude is the one who forgets people have physical boundaries as well.
With a tick in his jaw and his stomach clenching, Will whispers back. "Hey."
"Switch seats with me so I can fuck with Demi without Minnie knowing."
"I don't want to be murdered, Jude."
"And I don't want to live in peace, Will." He pauses. "Please."
Whining like that absolutely wasn't fair and before William knows it, he's pressed next to the window and next to Jude, who takes up so much room in the middle that one of this thighs are squishing into both his twin and Will -which is why Will, the smaller one, sat in the middle in the first place.
"Okay so," Clement says abnormally slowly. "What do we all want to do?"
It's quiet for a moment before Minerva takes an audibly harsh inhale of breath, before shouting "You don't have a plan! What the fuck -I snuck out, Clem!"
Jude and Demi make a face in the periphery of Will's vision, and that alone is a clear indicator for him to stay out of it. Clement does what Clement does, and Will accepts that he knows the consequences of his actions and decides to do weird things anyway.
Clement is just as fast to reply as Minerva was to yell. "I know that Mine'! I already know that we're -we're going out to the park! But after, I wanna know if anyone had plans for the after. Will needs to be distracted for a while and I, personally, would like to jus' have fun with m' friends before try-outs start. You know, express how grateful I am for ya' all-"
"What I'd like to express-" Jude drawls out, a smirk clear on his lips. "-is how fucking stupid you are."
Minerva once again turns around and grabs the back of Clement's seat for support. "You want to talk about stupid, Jupiter? You're literally one of the dumbest bitches I know. You literally almost failed English last year because you thought the book Mister Ike gave you was boring."
There's silence in the car for a few moments before Jude takes a deep breath, fists clenched on the top of his thighs. "Don't call me that."
"Sorry I -I forgot." Minerva apologizes but the spiteful look immediately comes back. "I still think you're stupid."
"And I still think you're a brat."
"And I love everyone here 'spite their flaws and weird names!" Clement says, taking one hand off the wheel to shake it almost victoriously in the air. "Any who, at the park I'm assuming you all want to play-"
"Soccer." Comes from everyone, including William and the brunet chuckles at how predictable his friends are.
"Yeah." Clement says, glancing in the rearview mirror at Will, who immediately smiles in reply. "I thought so."
-&-
While Jude is distracted trying to aim right at the back of his unsuspecting twin's head, Will quietly approaches Clement, who looks up from the bleachers and must sense something's up because he immediately mutes the microphone box he's been practicing with.
"What's up buttercup?"
Not knowing why he cares- -especially after he reacted so harshly to Minerva, his own best friend- -Will hesitates for only a moment before asking, "Is Jude's name Jupiter?"
Clement pauses and actually seems to consider his words before nodding. "Yeah."
"And Demi's is-"
"Demetrius."
Will's nose wrinkles. "Why don't they like their names?"
"Jude and Demi aren't the same person, Will," While this seems like a casual reminder, he knows how serious Clement is in his disliking of people who always assume that the twins were one in the same. "Demi's fine with his, we jus' all use his nickname 'cause who would ever want to go around sayin' Demetrius this and Demetrius that? Nobody, that's who. Jude's different."
At the moment, Will's more than aware that if this wasn't a serious issue within the group- -or rather, Jude in particular- -Clement would be an open book, and might even say things he shouldn't. The fact that he was choosing his words so carefully and not just rambling off meant that this was important.
"So don't call Jude Jupiter," Will confirms. "Got it."
Clement grins. "Thanks. Now go kick Demi's ass!"
Will laughs and jogs back to Jude, thankful his teammate is always a little more preoccupied with destruction than the actual world around him.
"And Nile, over with his rather random time-out, and heads straight to the field! What a runner that guy, you'd never guess he'd be a defense." Crackling words ring out from the speaker placed on the side of the field. "Now, Storme One has the ball, he's a good offense but Storme Two is better, the only difference is that Mackey and Storme One make one hell of a team, whereas Storme Two still doesn't trust Nile one bit."
Not liking being called out for his worse gameplay, Demi rolls his eyes at Clement's commentary and it makes Will feel giddy inside. "Unbiased, Clem, remember!" He calls out.
"And now Storme One is taking to the sidelines, harassing the speakers and guests. It's no wonder Storme Two got the ball while he wasn't looking!"
"Clement!"
"Storme Two kicks, it looks like a good shot and -oh, nope. Mine' caught, er, Mackey caught that with the grace of a hound. Meaning not much, but hell if it didn't look cool?"
Demi and Will share a look as Jude comes back over to them scowl as he shakes his head. "He has got to come up with better game names than Storme One and Storme Two."
For once, Will agreed with him.
